About this property

Beautiful converted croft house with stunning views

West Cottage was built around 1870 as a typical croft house with a byre beside it but gradually deteriorated during the 1990s until it was in danger of becoming derelict. In 2007 the old cottage was stripped back to the stone shell; it was re-roofed and completely refurbished to a very high standard and a large living-room was built on the end of the old house on the site of the former byre. The cottage offers comfortable accommodation over 2 floors. The living room, kitchen/dining and double bedroom with en-suite shower are on the ground floor with a further double bedroom, twin room and bathroom upstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The living room has well-stocked book shelves, a wood burning stove and a colour TV. There is wifi throughout the house.

Lovely cottage in stunning location

We had the best stay in Helen's home. It is very comfortable, cosy, warm and the views - well they are spectacular. The kitchen is very well stocked. We explored all over Skye and then found that Knock Castle and Torabhaig distillery were on our doorstep. Highly recommend this home, we would love go back.

A wonderful cottage with an unparallelled view

Idyllic cottage with one of the best views of the Sound of Sleat. A peaceful haven away from the busy spots of Skye, and within reach of some of the most beautiful parts of the mainland like Glenelg and Sandaig. Great communication by the owner. My second visit and I will definitely be returning.

Family holiday

Visited the cottage for a summer holiday with the family. Excellent house with everything you need for a wonderful trip away. Brilliant location, the kids were delighted the deer came to visit at nighttime, and the view across the Loch was amazing too. Helen was an excellent host, sending clear directions on where to find the house, aswell as recommendations of places to visit and things to do. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Very clean and cosy cottage in a wonderful location

We booked a late break on Skye and feel we were truly lucky to have found Helens lovely cottage. Despite pretty wet weather we walked out and dried off in style: cottage perfectly positioned for the views and the wood burner was wonderful. Many thanks

WOW! - great find - perfect - stunning views

This was our first time to Skye. The online listing is accurate. Helen was helpful and accommodating throughout. This cottage certainly has the WOW factor - the views are STUNNING, and I mean stunning from all rooms and in particular the living area. The location is great and around 1 hr to many places which are a must to visit such as the Fairy Pools, Portree, the Old Man of Storr as well as the hidden gem of Plockton which is just over Skye bridge where you can also go on a boat trip to see the seals. Little things that made the stay include: Broadford is close for 'big' shopping at the co-op, the shower has great pressure and the beds are extremely comfortable. If we visit Skye again we will certainly stay here and tell all our friends about this cottage.

IDeal setting for a relaxing retreat

The cottage is located in a less tourist busy area on the south end of Skye quite off the main road to Armadale and the ferry. The view from the living room is breathtaking. I often sat there hours watching the sunrise, the Loch and the mountains on mainland. The cottage is well catered and Helen is the ideal caring owner. All amnemnities that you need are provided. Excellent bed and hot shower. I really enjoyed the 4 weeks Of my stay and want to go back next year.

Beautiful well finished cottage with amazing views

The cottage was fantastic. It had great views, comfy beds, a very well equipped kitchen and a wonderfully cosy living area. What more could you want! I would recommend this place to anyone. I hope I can stay here again when we next visit Skye.

A little piece of heaven

We absolutely loved West Cottage. It has been refurbished to a very high standard whilst keeping the authentic “Croft” feel. The downstairs ensuite bedroom was perfect for my 92 year old Mum & the view from the sitting room is just breathtaking - even better when the weather’s good enough to enjoy the view sitting outside with a gin & tonic (which it was this week!)

Tranquil Splendour on Skye

West Cottage is a lovely house, quietly situated with superb views from large windows. You could relax all week just watching the scenery, but it's a great base to go exploring from too. Locally, there are plenty of secrets to discover - including Kat Lenz's Pottery just down the hill; boutiques and great gifts around Armadale Pier and the really splendid Clan Donald Museum and picturesque grounds at Armadale Castle. There's much more to do at Broadford and beyond, but before even going that far, drop in to An Crubh - the community café/shop/post office near Isleornsay - wonderful. Our party of four enjoyed a great week, made better by an upturn in the weather. From a not-untypical Skye rainy start, we were treated to glorious sunny, breezy weather for the following four days - hot enough to know that we were each short of t-shirt - but with enough breeze every day to keep any midges at bay! The whole experience of being at West Cottage is one any of us would easily repeat.

FANTASTIC holiday - could not have asked for more!

Wow - West Cottage is amazing! We had a fantastic long weekend stay in Teangue, and we could not have asked for more. The house is fantastic and kitted out with everything you need - and more books than you could read in a few months! The view is spectacular, and we got some fantastic sunsrises, and moons over the water. We even got a visit from the local deer on our first night! Thank you for such a fantastic holiday, we would recommend this to everyone!
