Magnificent Ballinskelligs Bay

A perfectly located, detached, spacious, quiet bungalow with 3 double bedrooms and open plan kitchen-diner-lounge. The surrounding nature and landscape are nothing short of stunning, although we were perhaps lucky to have absolutely perfect weather throughout our stay. Toor Beach is also magical, with sand, rockpools and plenty of space, just a short walk away. We loved it here.

Beautiful property

This is a beautiful house is a spectacular location. The house was spotlessly clean and had everything you could need. We have stayed in many rental properties and this was by far the best equipped. The owners are very organised and have all the information you could need on the house and the surrounding areas. We both brought bikes and enjoyed many cycling trips. Fabulous holiday, we enjoyed every day. Highly recommended!

Stunning house in a beautiful location

Five ladies staying here, one in a wheelchair. We all had an amazing time. Everything in the house is of a very high standard - the kitchen has all the equipment you could possibly need, the beds, sheets and towels top quality, and the light oak wood flooring and tables and chairs give a natural and warm feeling. The whole atmosphere of the house is spacious and yet cosy and welcoming. John was so helpful during booking, in the weeks leading up to our trip, and then when we arrived - best way to get there, things to see, and how to get the best from the house. We had great meals out locally, lunches and dinners - especially the Smugglers Inn and QC's. Everyone was very friendly and helpful on all our visits around Kerry, and we especially loved travelling around the Skerrig Ring for the views and places to see. Overall we loved our holiday and definitely hope to return.

The big difference

We have seen quite a few houses in Ireland and I must say, this house makes a difference. Very clean, bright, comfortable, dry (even in the cold and wet climate this summer), spacious are some of the words that come into my mind when I think about the house. The owners are very friendly, caring and helpful at all times. The pictures of the spectacular view speak for themselves. Our kids loved the garden which is beautifully arranged. We would definitely come back for our next stay.

You will LOVE this house

My husband and I have been renting houses for 16 years in Ireland and this house is without a doubt the best house we have ever rented. The house was spotless when we arrived and we were greeted by Penny the wonderful housekeeper. The location is stunning and so peaceful. John and Ann have thought of every detail to make this house incredible, the kitchen was so well equipped we did not go out for dinner once, the beds so comfortable we drifted off in minutes. The living room was the perfect place to chill after a day of hiking with it's beautiful views, wonderful fireplace and very comfy furniture. The yard and garden were beautiful as well. I love this house and hope to return next year. Thank you John and Ann for sharing your amazing home I would highly recommend, it is perfect!!!

Spectacular view and a tasteful house

When we arrived at the house, we had a very warm welcome from Penny the housekeeper. She showed us all and made sure, if there were any questions she will be there for us. The house is great! Comfortable, spacious, the views over the bay is a dream. We enjoyed to sit in the parlor an look after the dolphins and the seals. The kitchen is well equipped and very clean. During the breakfast we could watch the rabbits around the house. They were so funny :-) The quality of the beds is great and we slept very well. We liked the fireplace, it's so cozy in the evenings to start a fire when outside the wind whine around the house. John, the owner called the second day to ask if everything was perfect. What a nice gesture! And he sent us some information about the weather and a tide timetable. Thank you very much! This was really helpful. We did some hiking in the Kerry National Park. The Tommies Wood we recommend strongly. There were few people and the O'Sullivan cascade is really pretty. The short (2h)hike on Valentia Island - Bray Head -is very pleasant and not hard. The best Crab Claw we ate at the Moorings in Portemagee, just delicious! I can recommend, without hesitation, this house my friends and family. Thank you very much Penny and John

Dreamlike location, lovely and comfortabl bungalow

We can fully confirm the positives descriptions of the bungalow, the location and the extraordinally personal service by the owner Allen and his house manager Penny. The view over the bay is fantastic allover the day, even at night. The bungalow lies in the middle of a spectaculour landscape and in first row to the Atlantic. We loved the proximity to the nature and the tranquillity. The spacious garden around the house is more beautiful than the pictures show. We sometimes had barbecue in the evening and enjoyed the fresh fish or meat with view of the sunset over the bay. The equipment of the house is luxurious, very clean and well mentained. In addition we would like to underline the quality of the beds. We slept outstanding good in there. As a family with two kids in the age of 10 and 12 we liked the following acitivites: Hiking close to the Atlantic an the nearby lake. Relaxing and playing at lovely beaches at Caherdaniel, Waterville, Ballinskelligs. Horse riding at the beach. Trips for example to Dingle Peninsula.

Wonderful Property In Spectacular Location

This is a beautiful and exceptionally well equiped and maintained property. The location is stunning with spectacular coastal views, set in a lovely garden. The location is quiet and there are good opportunities for walking. Waterville is a pleasent village with good restaurants. We had wonderful weather during our stay which made our holiday even more enjoyable. The owner was very helpful and telephoned us during our stay to make sure everything was ok and to give us tips regarding restaurants, activities etc. The property manager kept everything immaculate and was very helpful on our arrival. We would not hesitate in recommending this property and would certainly like to return.

Kerry Tranquillity.

We arrived after a long drive from Dublin; the directions from the owner were very helpful and we found the property very easily. We were met by Chris who provided a warm welcome and showed us around; we were given the opportunity to ask any questions about the area and provided us with personal suggestions for eating out in Portmagee which proved to be very accurate. We were not disappointed with the description of the property; the house is very well presented and offers very high standards; the property is very well maintained. The house and surrounding area is in a perfect setting for a peaceful holiday. The views over the Atlantic are truly stunning and change frequently with the weather. The house is located just a short distance from Waterville and is located where it is easy to travel to other parts of the Ring of Kerry; this must be one of the most stunning areas in Europe and provides lots of opportunities to participate in activities such as walking; cycling; surfing; fishing and golf. We both enjoy photography as a hobby and this part of Kerry provides lots of opportunities for capturing stunning land and seascapes. Although we visited Kerry in the early part of the season we still experienced good weather on most days with some occasional showers; this didn't prevent us from exploring this beautiful part of Ireland. I would be happy to recommend this property to anyone looking for a perfect base to explore the Ring of Kerry.

A comfortable haven

The description was accurate; the property was beautifully and thoughtfully fitted and maintained to an outstanding standard, making for a wonderfully comfortable and relaxing week. The location is very quiet and peaceful, with wonderful views of the surrounding hills and sea. We enjoyed swimming at the nearby beach and walking from the door. Excellent restaurants and good shops were within driving distance. The owner was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and efficient, and the house keeper was warm and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our week, even though the weather wasn't brilliant, and we would certainly recommend this property for a quiet retreat.

Amazing beach cottage

My wife, parents, and I spent 5 days in this cottage, and we had a fantastic time. The pictures are an accurate representation of the house, but nothing can capture the beauty of the surroundin landscape. Each day, we were amazed by the surrounding tranquility of the farmlands and the breath-taking awe of the sea right at our front drive. Furthermore, the kitchen and bathrooms were extremely clean and modern for the area. We ended up eating in most meals, actually. One more important fact that may not be clear is that this house literally sits on the Kerry Way - a hiking path along the coast. We walked out with our backpacks across the fields with such ease - we have already started planning our return trip, and we will definitely stay here.

Magic holiday

Well they say that you have to pay for quality and that's what this venue provided. Everything in the property was top quality and exactly as specified so we had no complaints whatsoever. We were lucky with the weather and had a glorious week of sunshine, made magical by the wonderful sunrises and sunsets across the bay. A great venue for those who love touring the countryside, walking, golfing or fishing

Best in Kerry

This was our second time here as we holiday regularly in Kerry and this home is the most luxurious rental we have found. The entire bungalow is superbly equipped throughout and the webpage description hardly does it justice. Comfort and fittings apart, Loher Beach House is set in the most magnificent location. The open plan layout really makes the most of the stunning views of Ballinskelligs Bay and the adjoining mountains; the sunsets seen from the dinner table were fantastic! The spotting scope in the lounge is a nice touch too - we found it very relaxing watching the variety of wild life. Lovely Loher Beach is just a short walk away and the new Skellig Bay Links Golf course is just along the road. We found it excellent and very good value compared to Waterville Links. Waterville itself has many great places to enjoy local food. I have to say that prices have come down generally this year plus the exchange rate is a good deal better. Next year is already booked

A little piece of heaven

What a place. After we arrived on a lovely sunny day we quickly settled in. The whole vista is spectacular! The house is just so nice it was not like a holiday home. With comfy seating, lovely art on the walls rather than the usual prints, superb showers and a kitchen that is actually better appointed than our own, it was just lovely. The garden is beautifully planted and landscaped. Our children loved it with plenty of space to play safely there and in the super rock pools down on the local beach. The whole family experience was faultless. The owners were great to deal with and Mary the housekeeper made sure we had all we needed including changing the bed linen and towels for the second week – very refreshing to get such good service. Some of the things we enjoyed – The walks - so many just turn left and keep walking, Horse riding along the beach and right past the bungalow, rock pooling and fishing from the rocks for mackerel - we actually got enough for tea. We also drove round the Skellig ring which has some amazing sites and stopped at the chocolate factory – lovely!!. Overall just brilliant.

The place to stay for the Ring of Kerry holiday.

This place is not cheap but if you want to have a relaxed and pleasant holiday you will be hard put to find a better house and location. This house is not only well appointed with fantastic views over the sea but also has a pleasant airy feel due to the high cielings in the kitchen and adjoined living room. The location is pleasantly rural and out of the way yet with good access to local beaches and shops. On those occasional rainy days it was a pleasure to return to after a days sight seeing!

A wonderful stay

We spent the week before Eastern 2010 in Loher Beach House. The house is very well equiped and very cosy, we specially enjoyed the big open living room and kitchen. From the living room, the kitchen and bedroom 1, the views of the Atlantic Ocean are phenomenal. The surrondings are very beautiful, there is a lot to do and to see around Waterville. The Irish are helpful and really nice people. We spent a great time in Irland and especially in Loher Beach House.

September holiday at Loher Beach House

Richard and I just loved this house and its location. We thought the house itself was beautifully furnished throughout and had all the touches to make it a perfect holiday home - the magazines - the sound system - the books - the lovely outside space and all the home from home gadgets. The area was outstanding with walks from the door along country lanes with stunning scenery and a lovely rugged beach just a few hundred yards away. I would highly recommend this beautiful home.

My husband and I are originally from Meath and Roscommon respectively, but we have lived in Malahide in Co Dublin since 1999. We are both solicitors. We have two children, aged 9 and 13.

Why they chose this property

We spent many years renting properties in Ireland for our holidays, and in particular in Kerry. Having tried out many of Kerry's most beautiful locations, we fell in love with Loher Beach House the first time we stayed there in 2009. We came back each year thereafter and when the then-owners lets us know that they were thinking of selling, we jumped at the chance. In our opinion (and indeed that of many others) you will not find a nicer home or location to spend your valuable time. This is a stand out place with stand out reviews to back it up.

What makes this property unique

We know of no other holiday home with so many 5 star reviews from discerning travellers. Our beautiful house is luxuriously appointed throughout with superb proportions which means there is plenty of room for you all to relax in comfort and style. For example the lounge is 9m x 8m. As our mentioned in our reviews this is a home from home. To have all of this in such a stunning and yet convenient location overlooking the Wild Atlantic is very rare and why many of our customers return.
