During a freak heatwave

Lovely break, during a freak 39c heatwave. The pool and facilities allowed us to keep cool. If you stay here, say hi to Majesty the cat for us.

Little gem in the French countryside

Easy booking process location amazing for us x dog walks x close to lots of tourist attractions x however peace and quiet location to relax x amazing facilities at the Gite games room and pool

Lovely Gite in the Normandy Countryside

Just returned from a lovely week in Normandy. The Gite was wonderful and ideally placed for exploring Normandy. Lovely quite rural location but only minutes away from a town for all your shopping with a great market on a wednesday. the local village boulangerie for your fresh breakfast Croissants was even closer. Great holiday couldn't fail to recommend to anyone.

Perfect!!!!

Well, what a find! We had a wonderful two week family holiday for our first time abroad. Fabulous, well equipped, private gite and superb garden / pool for the kids and adults alike. Beautiful rural area to relax but also plenty to do and see should you wish. Lots of options for all! We loved it so much, we have booked again for next year already. Thankyou Joanne and Sharon xxx

Comprehensive facilities, quiet location, excellent value

A quiet week at the end of September for three (already exhausted) cyclists is not the acid test for a gite, but Viefacile met our requirements very well. Flatish countryside, plenty of roads and paths to pedal over, and enough interesting sites to see within a reasonable distance. The village of La Haye du Puits a few kms away is charming, with a comprehensive and very discreet in-town superstore and a large weekly market. Better bread and croissant are even closer in Lithaire, barely a minute's drive from the gite. Finding Viefacile is not absolutely straightforward, so do your Google Maps homework before you venture off...which we singularly failed to do. Once found (and it's really not that hard) it's a lovely quiet corner, with two charming hosts living next door...chatty and helpful when you like, invisible when you don't. Three bedrooms supported by two complete bathrooms is good for the outdoor types, though there are also two televisions and a broad range of TV channels (including some Sky services) and a DVD player for pommes de terre people. Hot water is very hot and absolutely abundant. Kitchen facilities are also comprehensive and the laundry department is good. The distribution of single and double beds allows for a variety of single/couple/children groups, and there are games room and swimming pool facilities. Of the big tourist sites Omaha Beach, Arromanches and the Bayeux Tapestry can be done in a day, and Mont St Michel is a day-out of itself...through lovely countryside that is less well known than the Bessin but perhaps all the better for it. Viefacile is a good corner to know for the real Normandie enthusiast, and perhaps an excellent base for the American visitor focussing on the WWII sites associated with the initial Airborne operations, St Lo and the Cobra breakout. At the village of Balleroy, 90 mins drive away, is a stunning chateau still owned and regularly used by the American Forbes family, so tours are a little limited and strictly guided (with no photos inside) but the rooms on display, the features and the paintings exhibited are excellent and shown by guides fully conversant with their subject and comprehensive in their languages. We three paid 7 Euros each, timed it right, and were given a superb private tour (in English) by the lovely Clemence...the highlight of our holiday. Viefacile is a very good base for seeing Normandie...

Conveniently positioned on the edge of beautiful countryside. Wonderful peaceful location

Arrived on 2 large motorcycles an hour after leaving Cherbourg. Joanne had pre informed us with all the information we needed, accessed our gite with ease then after offloading the baggage shot off for local produce and drinks. Stayed 2 nights, woke to the sound of cuckoo's each morning, and explored the D-Day beaches before heading on to Carnac. Lovely stay, peaceful, secluded, private and non invasive, with a traditional French feel. Would def stop by again, only a hard standing area for the bike's would have improved things.

Fantastic holiday, location and Gite.

We stayed here for 2 weeks and what a find. Lovely Gite with everything you could ask for and fantastic hosts who done everything to ensure our stay was comfortable and the break that we needed. Gite was spotlessly clean, garden has plenty for the kids to do to keep them entertained, including trampoline, rope swing, tyre swing and normal swings. The added bonus of having a games room made leaving the gite for a day out hard work. Our kids were so happy and so at home. Thanks Joanne for being the perfect host, you really made our holiday special, with your friendly advise on areas to visit and beaches to see. The beach is around 15 minutes drive and have to be seen to believe, crystal clear sea and lovely sandy beaches. We found this to be a perfect base and a perfect holiday. Lovely pool as well in the garden which the kids and I enjoyed. Lovely and refreshing and recently added solar heating made tempreture of the water great. The local town of La Haye du Puits has everything that you would need, 2 supermarkets, lots of bakeries and butchers serving local produce. The great thing about our holiday was not only discovering Normandy and all it has to offer, but to come home to the gite feeling totally at home with friendly hosts who were there should you have any questions or need them for any reason. This gite it has easy access to many of the areas of Normandy that you might want to discover, we visited Bayeux, St Michel, the D.Day beaches, St Germain, Barnville and Carteret, Cherbourg and many other almost deserted wonderful beaches. Thanks once again Joanne, Sharron and Hannah for being such wonderful hosts and for letting us stay in your wonderful property. At last my internet surfing has proved worth while. Fantastic value, clean, tidy, safe, entertaining and fun holiday had by all. We wish you all the best and would not hestitate in recommending this property to our friends and family.

French Joy

From booking through to departure this holiday was a joy. You will deal with people (Jo & Sharon) who want you to have a great time with as little inconvenience to you as possible. The property is in the middle of an historic area within easy reach of all the main places of interest. Driving in this area was a pleasure. The property has been finished to a high standard and is very comfortable and clean. This is ideal for anyone looking for a great base to explore the area (including Golfers). Just on the edge of the tiny village of Le Fry in a beautiful location about 30 minutes drive fom St Mere Eglise. The environment is very pleasing to the eye and there are lovely gardens where you can enjoy a leisurely drink or a barbecue on those beautiful French Balmy evenings. If you want any advice re booking this property it is don't worry it is a a place you will not suffer disappointment.

super weekend en famille

ptit commentaire a propos de nôtre weekend a lithaire. par un temps magnifique nous avons trouver ce charmant site "le fry" calme et paisible une famille tres discrete et chalereuse nous a reçu dans leurs gite. Integralement équipé une litterie confortable. emplacement parking a l interrieur de la propriété un bon bol d air a la campagne dans un lieu calme et au soleil ....contacter l annonceur "a faire et a refaire " pour marquer un temps d arret entre son quotidien et des vacances un pti weekend a lithaire sa fait du bien .....;) bon weekend a tous ceux et celle qui irons dans ces lieu simpa :)

Très bon séjour

Nous avons passé un tres agréable séjours. Le logement est très bien équipé: billard, fléchette, trampoline, piscine... Tout y est pour les petits et les grands. Il y a franchement rien a redire. Gérantes très agreables et discrètes.

Peaceful place on the countryside

Very professional and nice landlord, easy check-in, they are there if you need them but you really have your own place if you want. Much to Do and play with at ”home” for the whole family. Perfect with fenced garden for us with two dogs. A lot to see and visit in the sourroundings. U HAVE TO go to the patiserie in Lithaire the best we ever tried. And don’t forget to visit the Calvados maker Guillotte Pierre, thou we don’t speak french it was a lot of fun and really good products!!

La maison de vacances parfaite

This gite is an amazing place to spend a perfect holiday time. The garden is so beautiful with everything you need. More than perfect for children of all ages, a dream for dogs and we could relax there really well. The gite is furnished with lots of love. We already decided to come back next year. The landladies were incredibly friendly and helpful.

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour,malgré la pluie du mois de décembre en Normandie ! Nous avons apprécié l’indépendance des 2 logements dans le même gîte , nous étions 2 couples avec chacun son étage , sa salle de bain et ses wc ! Situation idéale pour les visites et les plages du débarquement ! Les gérants sont à côté mais aucun inconvénient ; noys garderons un très bon souvenir de notre séjour

Un weekend parfait entre amis !

très bien installés , tout équipé , les extérieurs abrités pour passer du bon temps sur la terrasse de la maison et du chalet au fond du jardin, même le BBC est utilisable par temps de pluie !! et oui nous sommes en Normandie ;=) gérant très discrets , emplacement très calme seul bémol est la température de la piscine (21 c°) dont nous n'avons pas pu profiter weekend a refaire !
