Only a few steps from the front door is the first of many footpaths that will lead you into the Weald of Kent or if you prefer to venture further afield, EuroTunnel & Ferry Ports are only a short drive away for a day trip to France not forgetting that it’s just a 40min train journey from Ashford station to London. Pet friendly. Please inquire before booking if you wish to bring your pet. Welcome basket on arrival All of the energy/heating supplied to the cottage is electric. Due to the huge increases in Electric charges we have introduced a fair usage policy to cover excessive use of heating and electric vehicle charging. Cottage had everything that you need and more, traditional furnishings that are in keeping with cottage. Very nice host Mark who came to feed the chickens. Out of the way but close to everything. Lots of lovely walks and very close to coast. Would definitely stay here again.

very peaceful hidden location but a minute from village shop. Quaint cottage, well equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom and living area. large outdoor space and the rescue battery chicken are an entertainment. Friendly and helpful host.
We wanted a quiet place over Christmas and this venue is ideal for those who peace and quiet.
The bathroom and kitchen are both excellent is size. The kitchen has everything you need. We didn't play any of the well-stocked games as we went out to places one of us was brought up in, then visited family. The chickens are wonderful.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Had everything we need, the owners Mark and Gill even left us snacks as we unpack. My kids felt sad upon leaving as they also enjoyed feeding the chicken. Thank you so much!! Had a really great time! We definitely book again!
Excellent accommodation easy access to lots of interesting places. The cottage has many amenities is in quiet surroundings and very cosy. We will visit again soon
It was a home away from home. All that we needed and more was there. You could see the thoughtfulness in every aspect of the cottage. Our children (age 5 and 7) enjoyed the outdoors, they found family games and children's DVD's in the cupboard. Close proximity to Port Lymph Safari (10 mins drive), so it was just ideal for us. Excellent stay for a family of four. The host (Gill and Mark) were so kind and friendly, even left milk, tea, snacks and orange juice for us in case we didnt get the chance to do so.
We stayed for three nights and only left the cottage for walks. It had all we needed for a bolt hole and time out. Stairs a bit steep, but manageable. Will likely return on a regular basis. Thank you for the welcome pack.
Just as described and a bit more. Simple to find just off the A20 half way between Ashford and Folkestone. Great safe open gardens, Mark also looks after rescue chickens. Great WiFi and TV signal so able to keep updated with the news re the loss of our Queen Elizabeth 11.
Visited Hythe, Dymchurch, Rye and Camber Sands. Great local Pub 5 minutes drive or 20 minutes walk on the A20 called the Dukes Head, even let you take your dog in. Nice people with good range of food and drinks. The way Mark greeted us was second so friendly and the property has everything for you and your pets, even towels for us both and our dog. Perfect thanks again Mark & Gill.
Regards Bob, Carol and Bertie the dog.

I found the property pretty however the cottage does need a deep clean and the outside of the property looks nothing like the pictures . I understand there are hens etc which are beautiful but there is a lot of rubbish outside. The area is great lots of places to visit but the attention to detail in the cottage is not that good. I cleaned the bathroom and it looked better. We are a fit couple but the stairs and bedroom are not easy to get to. As I said it could be a delightful place but needs some attention.
We had a lovely stay at Dolly Plum Cottage.
A lovely cottage with everything we needed. A lovely big garden which our dogs loved. A great location for exploring Kent.
Summer Satisfaction. This quaint property situated in rural Kent provided an ideal holiday location
Sellidge and Dolly Plum Cottage met our physical and emotional needs and allowed us to easily travel out to several attractions and enjoy good food. The Cottage was well presented and suited two people very well while the Owner was very helpful
Beautiful, well organised and private. Dolly Plum Cottage was perfect for a stay with my two dogs and a great place to base myself for a few days. Mark is v accommodating and thorough. This little cottage has everything.
My partner and I needed interim accommodation for a week due to selling and completing on our home. We stumbled on Marks cottage by accident and let me tell you what an experience. From the onset MARK was professional courteous and responsive. We arrived at the appropriate check in time and found a stunning cottage with all the desired amenities to suit our stay. A welcome basket was tastefully selected and provided as was basic stuff such as kitchen towels/washing up liquid towels etc. my partner and I are Carribean born so you can imagine our delight at the sound of the chicken , roosters, birds etc😂didn’t even mind being rudely awakened by them😩😀. Our 20 month old granddaughter visited also and had a ball, goodness it filled me with such joy watching her as I too had that freedom growing up in the Carribean.
There is no washing machine but we did well with what we had, as in all fairness sometimes one simply need to improvise and indulge outside of the modernity era. However, maybe not easy if travelling with children 😊
Mark thank you for your hospitality the numerous chats and your professionalism, we will most certainly be back.
The host Mark was really welcoming and the facilities and special touches like snacks milk fruit juice and fresh chicken eggs along with snacks for my dog. Would definitely recommend. The location for us was ideal, quiet and birdsong, sheep to hear and great garden for Dolly to play in. Location to Brockhill park, Hythe beach and other beaches great. Also Port Lympne animal Park nearby if you are travelling without a pet and also Rye not too far away. Gave me time to read, sketch and make memories with my puppy Dolly.
Stayed in this lovely cottage for a week. Everything was spotless clean. The classic style make it very cozy and the property has a good size land for the dog to enjoy.
Mark is a great host. Giving guests much privacy.
As stated the loft is a bit narrow and the stairs to reach it can be tricky. But not a huge deal.
We would come back for sure.

About the host
Hosted by Mark Potter
Mark & Gill moved to Kent in 2010 following many years serving abroad in the armed forces. Since our 3 sons left home we have been able to indulge in our interest to have a small plot of land where we could try to live "The Good Life". We have had a wide variety of pets and currently have 3 dogs and welcome all house trained pets with well behaved owners!
Why they chose this property
Just minutes from the main road and good access to the motorway yet in a secluded country position with its own large private garden. We fell in love with the cottage when we were looking for a small plot of land to grow our own produce and keep some chickens.
What makes this property unique
Dolly Plum Cottage is like a tardis – at first sight it appears quite small, but the open beamed ceiling and windows to 3 sides of the lounge makes it feel a lot larger on the inside although retaining its character – the mezzanine bedroom definitely gives it a romantic feel!
