Idyllic

What a beautiful place to spend time! Sally’s place is in a gorgeous, quiet location. The property is cleverly designed and has everything to make a stay delightful (including helpful local tips) We were also grateful for restaurant suggestions that helped make Father’s Day memorable. The little touches that mean a lot - a tray of breakfast necessities provided, and a vase of welcoming tulips! Very comfortable, beautiful surroundings and we hope to visit again soon!

Wedding Stay

Beautiful, quiet location and Sally and Tim were excellent hosts (and we had some help with the TV from a visiting brother!). We booked here because we were guests at a wedding in Tring and it gave us a base to visit relatives from. Lovely welcoming touches such as garden flowers in a vase, tea, coffee, bread etc. We loved it!

Great setting, quiet and beautiful

We have enjoyed a long stay here and felt at home from the very beginning. Being on the edge of Tring Park, you have a footpath through the woods right by your front door. The hosts are delightfully attentive, and the property has all you need for a long stay, let alone a short break. Thoroughly recommend it.

Brilliant hosts, superb location

Tim and Sally, very friendly and welcoming. When first arrived Sally came along to make sure we settled in OK. Accomodation itself had everything you could want and more. Welcome pack of bread and butter and a few other things a lovely touch. The cottage itself was absolutely spotless. Had a lovely relaxed week wandering the many walks in the woods and seeing the wildlife and taking a slow walk into Tring. The only negative was that we had to leave. Very depressed the morning we left. If back in this part of the country we will definitely try to book there again. Thank you Tim and Sally we had a lovely time and hope your open garden day goes well.

Perfect location!

Lovely, quiet property attached to a larger beautiful house/ garden at the edge of a woods with many walking paths. Probably the best location I've ever seen for a holiday cottage. Beautiful views from bedroom and living room. Comfortable bed, nice decor. Helpful and pleasant owners. The only problems were no hot water the first night ( turns out there was a switch to turn on the hot water but we couldn't find it and no instructions were available) and the kitchen which is very small and dark and has only one small, glazed window ( it used to be a bathroom). We had to ask for brighter light bulbs just to be able to work in the kitchen.

Good place to relax and get away

Lovely location cottage has everything you need .A bit difficult to find as post code doesn’t seem to get you there. Housesitter was great very helpful and thoughtful. Would have liked instructions for dvd layer so I wouldn’t have to ask .but then I hate tech leaflets over all I loved it.its comfortable even if it is a bit cosy.

A wonderful lodge, full of character, with everything you need for a self catering stay.

We stayed for two weeks awaiting the birth of our first grandchild. This lodge is surrounded by wonderful gardens and has everything you need for a short or long stay. It is ideally suitable for a couple young or old, who might just be looking for somewhere to spend some quality relaxation time, or maybe walkers and /or bird watchers. From the moment we arrived we set off through the trees to discover the woodland walks in Tring Park and the wonderful cornfields which surround the lodge. We had a car so spent many a day discovering the lakes and reservoirs that are nearby. There is a Tesco supermarket in Tring which supplied us with everything we needed to cook and enjoy evening meals at home, prepared in the very well equipped kitchen. The owners ,who live in the adjoining house, were a very nice couple, and although we were left on our own, we always felt that they were on hand to help out with any problems, had they arose. We live in Spain, but we are planning to return to this lodge as much as we can. We have adopted it as our UK hideaway.

Nice little cottage, great environment

Property clean, well equipped, but living room small. You need to have good weather. The view and garden outstanding, great environment for walks and visiting little towns and interesting places.

Very nice cottage adjacent to Tring Park.

We enjoyed our 6 days stay very much. We visited the Natural History Museum in Tring and the Ciltern Open Air Museum, went for bird watching at College Lake Nature Reserve, took a peek in the Etsy pop-up shop in Didcot, spend a day around Woburn Abbey and on our way home we visited Cambridge. Many thanks to Sally and Tim for their friendly welcome and the beautifull cottage!!!

Fantastic cottage and location in beautiful surroundings for a quiet and restful stay

The accommodation is cosy and compact but with everything needed to make for a wonderful stay. My husband and I stayed in Highfield Lodge for six weeks and we could not fault it. Our hosts Sally and Tim were friendly and helpful but never intrusive. There are many lovely walks which start right outside the front door through Tring Park, along the ancient Ridgeway and the Grand Union Canal. Tring is the nearest town with all the facilities needed and it’s railway station allowed us into London Euston in just over half an hour. Although working during our stay it actually felt like an extended holiday!

A little piece of heaven

After looking for a bit of "me time", this fit the bill exactly. Spacious accommodation, with everything you need for a home from home supplied. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, with woodland walks right on your doorstep. A perfect getaway location if you are single and want some down time. Perfect again for a couple looking for perhaps some romantic walks in beautiful surroundings. A stones throw away from Tring town, and a short drive to Berkhamsted town for shopping, with the option to commute into London to sight see with rail services taking under an hour. Sally Dawson, the owner, was the perfect host, always available for requests or enquiries, yet unintrusive. Overall, the perfect getaway. I hope I get the opportunity to return in the future.
