We just wanted to get away for a few days . My husband lives to fish from the dock and I enjoy reading with the view of the lake. It’s just quiet and we love it.
We stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend. The pictures do not do this property justice. Tucked away in a cul de sac, nestled in the trees, this home is in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood. We enjoyed walking "The Girls" (our pups) along the streets of Fox Run where we encountered little traffic. The gazebo in the back of the property has beautiful views of the lake and we sat there in the afternoon with our wine. 🍷 Inside, the kitchen served our needs, the bed was comfortable, and there were plenty of extra blankets for the cold nights. Would consider staying here again!
Thank you so much for such a lovely and quick stay. Everything was just as described. The view is just beautiful and we loved all the amazing hangout areas throughout the property. One. Night was too short and we will definitely be back!
We planned our trip when kids were back in school so we were able to enjoy a peaceful, relaxing trip to a beautiful part of Virginia. The house is charming, comfortable, well stocked and well organized. The host is responsive and friendly. Would happily visit again.
We love this property. Outdoors: the lake ready to jump in, the gazebo, the patio, the driveways. The driveway next to the house makes it possible for our disabled friends to enter without steps. Inside is comfy with a great kitchen. Thanks again Susan!
The home was very inviting. The kitchen had anything and everything you could need. We enjoyed sitting in the gazebo looking out over the lake. We also used the fire pit where we laughed and laughed. The rooms were good size and sheets were waiting for us. More than enough linens were provided. The owner was great and flexible. Would stay again.
This house was the perfect location on the lake. In a smaller arm of Gaston, it was a lot quieter than other places on the lake. There are a lot of stairs down to the lake, so definitely something to consider based on your party; but for our group of 30yos, not a problem. Dock was perfect for 6 of us to hang out on, getting in and out of the water, launch kayaks. The house itself was adequate for our needs. Nothing fancy, but comfortable bedrooms, 2 baths, and a living room big enough for us to all hang out after dinner. Kitchen was a little small, but the listing was accurate so we planned our meals ahead accordingly (no full oven, only 2 induction stove burners). Had no problem cooking 3 lbs of taco meat on the stovetop. The only small ding I had was on cleanliness; the floors were dirty to walk on barefoot and the outside patio area was covered in branches. Outdoor brooms were provided, so we were able to clean things up, but it would have been nice to not start our vacation with a chore. But otherwise, the rooms and bathrooms were clearly cleaned, which is most important. Especially given the price, this rental was awesome. Again, nothing fancy and you get what you see in the pictures, but I would definitely stay here again.
Perfect spot, kids had a blast jumping off the dock, fishing and tubing

Mostly Good
We had a good time overall. There are a few things that are notable: The lids to the hanging pots and pans were greasy and dirty. The cooktop has only a small and a large burner, and we could not figure out if the rest of the cooktop was usable, so couldn't cook several things at the same time, although there is a microwave and toaster oven, but no real oven (The lack of an oven IS mentioned in description). Propane grill outside. Very near the highway, so less quite & peaceful than we would have liked. Many steps (~60) to the deck down by the water. The inside of the house was clean, the outside was not, but I swept the porch and the deck, which was full of cobwebs (noted in the later info we were given, & brooms were provided). The kayak is very old, not easy to access on the slope, so we didn't use it. There are lots of floats and chairs provided, able to use the boat slip and lift. A stressful team effort to get the boat through the narrow concrete bridge to access the larger part of the lake. The water is not as clear as other parts of the lake we've been to, as it's in a smaller branch. Having info that showed the actual addresses of nearby stores & restaurants would have been really helpful since the house is near both VA and NC. Few drinking glasses, mostly plastic. TP provided is the super thin. Towels are normal sized - no big beach towels. Chairs and pillows on porch are old and dirty. Nice shaded view & price. Good value for the money for our short getaway.
If you want to truly disconnect, this is the place for you. Cell phone service is spotty at the house and the wifi was so/so. I wasn't trying to work so it wasn't an issue for me. It's a quiet neighborhood, great for dog walking. There are 61 stairs from the house down to the dock. There is a small area on the dock where you can get some sun and a small area under cover for shade. We enjoyed morning coffee in the gazebo. The only real negative is the stove. The burners don't get very hot. It took 30 min to sauté some mushrooms and onions for an omelet. I gave up on trying to boil a pot of water for pasta. There are a few restaurants nearby so make it a vacation and don't cook!
The residence was very clean and comfortable. A great place for mental relaxation just to get away from it all. The gazebo on the lake is a perfect spot for morning breakfast or late light meal. Nice and peaceful neighborhood. Would definitely stay again in the near future. Thank you for the opportunity to stay in your home.
