About this property

APPLETREE COTTAGE, romantic, country holiday cottage in Bovey Tracey

This picture perfect thatched cottage in Higher Brimley is within the Dartmoor National Park and sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms.

Picture perfect Appletree Cottage, a semi-detached, thatched cottage in the pretty hamlet of Higher Brimley in Dartmoor National Park. The rose filled cottage garden with a thatched summerhouse has outstanding far-reaching views to Bovey Tracey and Haytor beyond. Inside are lots of original period features, including thick cob walls, original leaded windows, beamed ceilings and stone fireplaces. In the living room is a wood burning stove, and from the window seats, there are lovely views over the garden. In the large kitchen, the family can eat and be together. Also on the ground floor, a cosy snug, and the family bathroom. On the first floor are two comfortable double bedrooms, one of which has a king-size bed.

Amenities: Night storage, and underfloor heating with wood burning stoves. Electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer. TV/DVD, Wi-Fi. Bed linen and towels included free of charge. Off road parking for 2 small-medium cars. Terraced garden with lawn and furniture. Regret no pets. No smoking. Shop 1 mile, pub 1.5 miles. Note: The door on the woodburners will need to be closed at all times when in use. Note: Drops in garden, therefore property not suitable for young children. Note: The garden includes steps and the property is therefore not suitable for people with limited mobility.

Region: Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

Town: Nestled in the valley of the River Bovey is this stunning little town known as "The Gateway to the Moor". Bovey Tracey got its name from the meandering river that flows through it, with 'Tracey' representing the family that were the lords of the manor after the Norman Conquest. It has a great history with heavy involvement in the English Civil War which resulted in the name of the town's pub "The Cromwell Arms" which serves real ale and good food. The history of the town can be discovered in the Heritage Centre, with the Dartmoor National Park Authority also nearby. Bovey Tracey offers a selection of shops and cafés along with the stunning Mill Marsh Park and the Dartmoor Whisy Distillery which offers guided tours. The town comes just outside of the Dartmoor National Park which provides seemingly endless walking and cycling paths along with incredible scenery. The market town of Newton Abbott sits nearby, offering a fantastic day out with charming buildings and a good range of amenities. The beautiful city of Exeter is also within driving distance, and if a day at the seaside is what you're after then take a trip to Teignmouth.
