About this property

Vine Cottage - Vine, Bamboo and Wisteria Cottages. Peaceful countryside retreat.

In the heart of Southern Brittany's beautiful countryside rest Vine, Bamboo and Wisteria Cottages. They are part of a small hamlet called Hevedic (meaning Little Sanctuary in Breton) within a conservation area, of which the peace and tranquility has hardly changed since the reign of Louis XIV. These beautiful stone cottages have breathtaking vaulted ceilings, highlighting wonderful beams and each cottage has a huge Breton fireplace at its heart. Discover at your leisure 1 acre garden complete with wood burning hot tub, a potager full of flowers, herbs and vegetables and many hidden corners to sit and relax. Hevedic Wood has many paths leading to the Blavet river and the small town of Quistinic can be reached this way if you do not wish to drive. A cycle/footpath runs beside the river passing through towns and hamlets to the coast in one direction or Pontivy in the other. This area is perfect for mountain biking, road cycling, trail running, kayaking and walking. Poul Fetan, the 16th Century Village of French Culture is 5 minutes walk away and makes for a perfect day out with costumed hosts reinacting life here in the past and a tavern selling local ciders and beers and Breton meals.
The ground floor is open plan and the lounge centres around a huge Breton fireplace with wood burning stove and vaulted ceiling showing beautiful beams. It is tastefully furnished with a large Italian leather sofa. There is Satellite television showing UK and French channels. The fully fitted oak kitchen/diner has ample work surfaces and includes fridge, cooker/grill, microwave, toaster, kettle, cafetiere, coffee machine, iron, pine table and four chairs. A mezzanine bedroom with king-size bed and en-suite that boasts a six jet power shower, sink and WC. High quality bed linen, fluffy towels and luxurious robes are provided.

A little piece of paradise

This was my second stay at this little piece of paradise. Surrounded by stunning countryside and within a short walk of the beautiful river Blavet, it really is like stopping the world to get off for a while. Sitting in the garden the only sound to be heard is birdsong. And if you enjoy a bit of culture and history, you have only to walk next door to the fascinating outdoor museum village of Poul Fétan. The cottages are close to sandy beaches, chateaux and towns full of interesting history. The proprietors are kindness personified. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and guests are greeted in the cottages with freshly baked bread, eggs from the owners' own chickens, butter, cheese and wine. I recommend this place very highly and hope to be back before too long.

Very comfotable and relaxing

We received a very warm welcome from Linda and a very nice welcome basket including freshly laid eggs from the garden. Linda then explained everything we needed to know and confirmed that she had booked us a table at a local restaurant which was fantastic. The cottage itself is very comfortable and equipped with all the mod cons for enjoyable holiday. The bed was very comfortable, the shower excellent and the TV had English channels. The garden is lovely with plenty of options to chill including sun beds and a hot tub. In walking distance of the cottage is an authentic Bretagne village museum which is very good to spend a whole day or half and has a nice bistro All in all we really enjoyed our stay and found it the perfect base for exploring the area

OUTSTANDING VALUE AND A WARM WELCOME

Highly recommended. Linda and David are very welcoming and helpful hosts. There was a very generous welcome pack of goodies and they were kind enough to chauffeur us to a favourite restaurant on our last night so we could drink and not drive. The cottage itself is spacious, comfortable and well-appointed. Guests are also given free run of the garden with lots of quiet spots to sit and relax. The cottage is well situated for visiting the sights and we were also able to enjoy some lovely local walks. All in all, probably the best value for money we've encountered in a holiday cottage let.

Absolute perfection, wonderful rural setting

From the moment we arrived we knew we had made the right decision. We recieved a lovely welcome from Linda, meeting David a few days later as he was away when we arrived. Linda had the wood burning stove ready lit fof us as well as the most generous welcome basket full of goodies. The fridge was also stocked with milk, cheese and eggs from the resident hens. The gite has everything to make you feel your in a self catering hotel suite. Fluffy towels and robes, spa slippers, body shop toiletries. The shower is very modern with jets and rain shower options. The kitchen is fully stocked with all equipment required if you choose to cook. There is also a wood heated hot tub situated in the lovely garden. The setting is a few minutes walk to the riverside which offers lovely, tranquil walks and gorgeous views. The museum Poul Fetan is two minutes walk in the other direction. The village is a five minute drive away with towns just a little bit further offering supermarkets, restaurants and boutique shops. We discovered beautiful quiet beaches a half hours drive away. The area is perfect for a wide range of attractions for all interests. We stayed in Vine Cottage which is perfect for two. Other adjacent cottages are available. There is an interlocking door between Vine Cottage and Wysteria Cottage, this door can be kept locked or opened for groups of families or friends. The owners Linda and David are friendly and are available for advice but also are unobtrusive, they have created the perfect balance. If you enjoy a peaceful, rural setting, riverside walks on your doorstep with the option of visitor attractions a short drive away then this is the place for you. Perfect for couples as well as larger groups.

Blissful Two Weeks in Lovely Brittany Countryside

The cottage and location exceeded our expectations; it was also immaculately clean and everything worked. Our two week stay was enhanced by the presence of the owners; they have an easy rapport with visitors and go out of their way to ensure comfort and help in any way, including advice on local attractions. We pursued a diverse range of activities, including two of many scenic local circular walks, canoeing on the River Blavet, beaches at Port Louis and La Trinite sur Mer and culture at Josselin and Hennebont. We also explored the Golf du Morbihan and Quiberon Peninsula. Each of the owners' recommendations we pursued for local restaurants proved outstanding. Another culinary highlight was the Boulangerie at the neighbouring heritage museum - Poul Fetan. We will certainly be recommending this cottage to friends and relatives, and hope to return ourselves next year.We loved it there and left feeling incredibly relaxed.

Relaxing Holiday in a beautiful setting

We had a wonderful week in Vine Cottage exploring the area where we were able to enjoy walks from Nevedic plus cycling by the river Blavet. Linda & David are great hosts and maintain the cottages to a high standard with lovely soft fluffy towels and bath robes. We did not expect the hamper full of tasty treats on arrival but what a delight! The gardens are extensive and it is easy to find a relaxing spot to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Vine Cottage is within easy reach of the coast plus other attractions including the town of Josselin with it's chateau. We did enjoy our stay and it would be great to return and explore more walking possibilities so close to the cottage. Allan & Alison

Beautiful Gites set in a truly tranquil setting.

From the minute you arrive to the minute you leave David and Linda make you feel completely at home. Vine Cottage is perfect for a couple not only looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of work life but also explore the surrounding area. I cannot stress enough that David and Linda really do go the extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible, from recommending good local restaurants, walks, places to go and see, even lending fishing gear for a peaceful time by the beautiful River Blavet. The garden that you are given total free reign to enjoy are so peaceful, nothing but bird song to be heard, that you can't help but relax and enjoy the Brittany sunshine. We will definitely be returning to these Gites, and having seen all 3 of them I wouldn't hesitate to book any of them. Thank you David and Linda for making our holiday what it was. Neil and Tracey.

Idyllic surroundings

We spent a wonderfully relaxing week at Vine Cottage over Easter. We found the cottage to be everything we had hoped for. It was beautifully clean and charming inside and out, with a lovely welcome hamper of food and wine to greet us. The property is adjacent to a beautiful garden, full of trees and shrubs and plenty of seats dotted around so there was always somewhere you could sit if you wanted either sun or shade. Our hosts Linda and Dave were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We had logs delivered to our door daily for the wood burner and they were very knowledgeable about places to visit and things to do. We spent a great afternoon cycling for 25 km along the River Blavet towpath which was flat and an easy ride. I would definitely recommend Vine Cottage and the larger Wisteria Cottage next door to anyone looking for some peace and tranquillity in the beautiful French countryside. We will return for sure.

Excellent Hosts

We have loved staying here with David and Linda, they have been fantastic hosts and nothing has been too much bother. We were so surprised when we arrived to find a brilliant welcome pack with lots of local goodies, including wine! The gite was very comfortable and had everything we needed and lots of extra lovely touches like bath robes. David provided us with lots of fire wood which which kept us cosy on the more chilly evenings. We have enjoyed exploring the local area as we'd never been to this part of France before, there are lots of interesting villages and beaches to be explored. We loved using the new wood fired hot tub, a real luxury. Thanks for a great break Linda and Dave.

Vine Cottage is a beautiful gite ideal for two people, and the property owners who live immediately adjacent were extremely helpful. There is a lovely garden tended by Ron, with the opportunity to relax in a hot tub at the end of the day. The gite also benefits from a flexible start date (with significant potential savings on ferry costs). We would have no hesitation in recommending it to other people. Thanks again for your hospitality, Caz and Ron!

Easter Hols

A lovely welcoming Gite that was a superb base for our exploring along the Blavet Valley. Probably the best nights sleep we have ever had! It was so peaceful and relaxing. A great touch was the welcome from Caz and Ron after a long journey- food, wine, conversation and wall to wall sunshine in April. Thank you for a fantastic week. We hope to return again and bring the extended family with us.

Peaceful, welcoming, picturesque, ideal for a couple who want to enjoy a quiet break with plenty of local walks in the day and the log fire in the evening. We did plenty of cooking and didn't need any more facilities. Great in the winter and probably just as good in the summer.

Wisteria Cottage

Really nice property that was clean and well maintained. Good to arrive somewhere and find bread, wine and cheese ready for you as well as tea, filter coffee, etc. Well stocked in terms of pans etc - everything we would want in our own kitchen was here. Ron and Caz were very helpful and welcoming, and could not have done more to help out. Ron was happy to entertain the kids with his magic tricks. Lovely large garden well laid out - the kids loved this too, as there was plenty of space for them to run around and play games. Good base for exploring the region, but you probably need a car. Owners made the difference between a good holiday and a great one. Thank you both so much

Vine Cottage

This was our second time at Vine Cottage and it was exactly the same as we remembered it, spotlessley clean and with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Had a lovely warm welcome from Caz and Ron. Loved the hot tub which we managed to go in this time as the weather was hot and sunny all week. The shower with the multi jets is really good as well. There are lots of lovely places to visit, loved Rochefort-en-terre, Pont Aven, Quiberon, and many more lovely places to see and nice places to eat out. La Forgia at Lochrist is still very good. Lovely Creperie at Carnac called Chez Marie. Plenty of lovely little villages to wander round, such a lovely scenic area. Hope to come back again some time.

Région très riche

Le logement était plus que correct et l'hôtesse très accueillante. Le seul problème est que la description du cottage sur le site ne répondait pas pour moi à la réalité. Le cottage ne donnait pas directement sur le jardin des hôtes.
