Terrible property, but location is excellent

Damp issues throughout the whole flat, not only the kitchen cupboards. Gutters haven't been cleaned for a long time and when it rains, it causes further damp problems. It's a quirky flat, I like the setup, but it's outdated. The walls require painting and the sofa needs to be replaced. I've seen cloth moths coming out from it. The sofa is so old, it soaked up all the dampness from the flat and you can really feel it when you sit on it. The flat hasn't been cleaned properly for our arrival too. I needed to do it myself. The customer service and location are excellent though!

Impressions. Cosy/comfortable. Sofa too big for the space. Needed bigger unit for storage.

A few tweaks and it would be better. Emptying the wardrobe for more space.

Quiet and centrally located

I loved the quiet location of this cottage. It is hidden away in a peaceful and pretty pedestrian alleyway directly off Sheringham high street not far from the clock tower and the Little Theatre, so only a short walk from both Tesco, Sainsburys and the sea front. The cottage was very well-equipped. Contrary to my expectations, towels, an ironing board, an iron and a hairdryer were all provided as well as everything else you could possibly need, such as plentiful crockery, cutlery, pots & pans. The only drawback for me was the settee which I could not get comfortable on but other than that my stay at the cottage was very pleasant and Sheringham is absolutely beautiful. I recommend checking the time of low tide and going for a long walk along the sand at low tide beyond the lifeboat station after the end of the prom. It is a breathtaking walk along a wild and unspoilt coastline and you will never forget it. I recommend doing the same at West Runton which has a stunning, vast sandy beach at low tide. Another two beautiful walks are along the cliffs by the golf course and the walk up Beeston Hill, both in Sheringham. The views from both are magnificent.

Very sweet little cottage.

This is a very sweet tiny little cottage lots of character. Unfortunately it has a problem with damp in the bathroom and probably in the kitchen cupboard which really lets it down. It so deserves have this problem addressed and then some outside painting done (I understand the problem is with the gutter, but wonder whether the rather derelict looking cottage next door does not help - the gutter I understand will be done. Then it can get the care it so richly deserves. It really is a lovely cozy little cottage and I did enjoy my stay.

Needs a bit of care and attention but overall does what it saya on the tin

Cottage very small so would be better seved by a smaller 2 seat sofa and TV needs swivel mounting on the wall as cannot be fully viewed tucked away on shelf in the alcove. Needs new cooker as current one is starting to rust, also extractor does not work and small kitchen side cupboard is broken. Whilst unerstandable that bathroom is very small so can ony fit a smal shower unit, the shower doors do not close properly so floor outside gets very wet. Outside could do with a lick of paint and the front weeding back to make for a better first and lasting impression. Cottage would benifit from WiFi as most people use this to check latest attractions, maps, bus and rail timetables etc. didn't really use the information pack in the cottage as the one of the early pages quoted "this years canrnival" as being "2009", and quite a lot of the brochures were 2016, 2017, so well out of date and therefore unreliable. Generally enjoyed the stay for the price, but a little more thought could be given to customer requirements.

Lovely little cottage

Quiet location, yet very close to amenities/shops etc. The cottage was clean and comfortable and we found no problems with the property :)

Not as expected

Good location and size for 2 people and could be lovely and cosy, but so many things need sorting out. We were rather disappointed.

Grotty

Great location but overall a grotty little place, sofa has ingrained dirt where it shines in places, has a 3 and 5 door chest of drawers in bedroom, but no room for your clothes as they each drawer was full of towels that stank ‍, cupboards full of hoovers brooms and tins of paint, their were half used bottles of cleaning materials jotted around the place ( shame they did not use them ) the mould in and around the shower made me feel sick and the whole place had a damp / dank smell, other than that fantastic

Bargain holiday

The cottage is well situated, within easy reach of shops pubs restaurants and sea. We have stayed there before and it's very cosy. It was clean and tidy, maybe a new sofa would not go a miss. A general sweep up of the lane and and the weeds pulling up would tidy it up a bit.

A cosy convenient place to stay

This cottage is very compact but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It's in a great location tucked away just off the High Street. The cottage was warm enough for the mild winter weather we had. The only drawback was lack of Internet which I would think would be a requisite particularly for a winter stay.

ideal location

The cottage was ideal for myself, located in the middle of sheringham, it is very small but ideal for a base but has near enough everything you need. I would recommend it for a base. If I was to be negative about it, the bathroom towel rail didnt work or there was no instructions to put it on, there was a lack of toilet roll and it was a shame there was no coal or wood for the log burner, as it had been used.

Improved cleaning since last year

Having read recent reviews we were very concerned about our return visit to this cottage. So we were pleased to find the shower rail has been fixed, the grouting redone - and the cleaners have definitely ‘upped’ their game. Crockery and under the sink cupboards have been tidied since our last stay. There still remains an issue of damp and fusty smell from under the sink cupboard. This could partly be solved by a drip tray next to the sink. The sofa is not very comfortable, but the beds are. It is a cozy cottage, adequately equipped for a self catering holiday for two. The log burner is a bonus. The location is superb, and it is the location that draws us back each year. Less than 5 minute walk to the Sheringham Little Theatre - and shops. We are going to tick the recommendation box - but it is a compact property, with some issues so would not suit everyone.

Perfect find

Was a perfect find, in the centre of Sheringham. Quality beds and furniture. The stairs would be tricky for less abled and the shower is a tight fit to get in and be In for the larger person (glad I’m no fatter and I’m fat!!) but expected in a wee cottage. Loved our week at 5 Museum Cottages.

Attention to detail

Lovely spot, nice cottage. The attention to detail is exactly that. If the owners or agents cleaners can't see it I'm not explaining it to them. However 1 point in the current climate I would have expected the highest standard of cleaning. " Attention to detail "

A long awaited getaway.

A very cosy little cottage & very close to the town. Stairs could be a problem for some, however just what you would expect in an old cottage. Lovely to have the woodburner. Would definitely return.
