Fabulous Loch View House

Ardfyne is a wonderful property with views of Loch Fyne. We stayed for just over a week and the house easily fitted our family and friends. The house is well equipped with comfortable beds and good bathrooms. We particularly enjoyed the sweeping views of the Loch from the btwo balconies.

Fantastic stay

We visited this week and loved our stay. 2 families with older kids. House was perfect for what we needed, spotlessly clean, plenty of communal space, enough bathrooms and good showers, well equipped kitchen for self catering for a group (2 ovens and 2 fridges). Highlight was the upper balcony with amazing views over the loch, and it was great to have 2 separate lounge areas. We weren’t blessed with good weather- pretty wet and not warm!- but there is plenty to do locally regardless. Some highlights were a boat trip from Luss on Loch Lomond, Inveraray jail museum, local working blacksmith, and some absolutely beautiful walks (Pucks Glen in particular) and local scenery. And the local pub, The Creggan Inn, does great food! Good communication from our hosts. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Fantastic time at Ardfyne

The house is beautiful and was exactly what we were looking for. We’re a family of eight, Mum, Dan, three grown up children and their partners and our dog Angus. The house was very clean and we were made feel very welcome with even a hamper of goodies left for us. The views from the house are amazing and we loved the upstairs lounge overlooking the loch. We will definitely be visiting again. Thanks for a wonderful time

Wonderful home, lovely hosts

We’ve just spent our Christmas and New Year at this lovely home set in a beautiful location. Ardfyne is a spacious home that offers you the opportunity to spend quality time with friends and family but also have your privacy and own space when needed. The en-suite bathrooms were very handy! The home has all the facilities you’d need for a comfortable stay and cannot think of anything we missed. The views from the bedrooms and landing are breathtaking on a sunny day as you can see the lake and mountains at the same time. Our whole experience of booking and communication with owners/property managers was a very positive one and the welcome hamper and beautiful Christmas tree made our stay even more enjoyable. Overall we had a lovely relaxing stay and would recommend Ardfyne to anyone visiting the area.

Stunning views

We’re just back from Ardfyne- what a fantastic house, equipped with everything we needed for a brilliant weekend away with our families. Only 1hr 20mins from home, but it felt like another world! The house is a fantastic size, with 3 huge en suite bedrooms upstairs. The view of Loch Fyne was stunning and we had a fantastic lunch in the Creggan’s Inn, a half hour walk along the coast. Wished we could have stayed longer!

Beautiful house overlooking the Loch

We had an anazing holiday at Ardfyne. This beautiful house is well located on the shore of Loch Fyne and is an ideal base to explore Argyll. The house is well laid out and very spacouus with amazing views of Loch Fyne and Inverary across the Loch. Plenty of space for our family to relax and our doggies loved it. They enjoyed roaming the many garden pathways. I highly recommended a stay at Ardfyne and we would visit again in the future Thank you Ella for accomodating our stay

Family Holiday

The place was brilliant, so spacious to accommodate our family, including our four grandchildren. It was well equipped and spotlessly clean on arrival. Location was excellent, the views over the loch sitting on the upstairs balcony where breath taking, this included a number of brilliant sunsets. Overall a great experience in a lovely property, highly recommended.

A wet but happy week

This was a very comfortable modern house very well appointed and easy for an extended family to share for a holiday. There is plenty to see and do apart from walking but frequent driving should be anticipated to take full advantage. We would be very happy to return to the house with its helpful owners but will probably opt for a fresh area to explore.

Ardfyne on Loch Fyne

A relaxing week in a wonderful property. Well equipped, clean, spacious and with fabulous views of Loch Fyne. We enjoyed a multi- generational family holiday, taking our bikes to explore the local area. A firm favourite was Otterferry, where we strolled along the shoreline and enjoyed a pint in the Oyster Catcher. Not a huge amount happening on Loch Fyne in terms of sport for the active but the house was a good base to explore other areas and we went paddle boarding on Loch Ness. The Creggans Inn just down the road provided good food and friendly staff.

Fabulous hidden gem

We recently stayed at Ardfyne for a family holiday with 6 adults and 2 collies celebrating 4 birthdays across the week, we adore Scotland and as I had visited the Cairndow area a couple of years ago I wanted to return with the rest of the family, couldn’t have made a better choice. The house is fabulous - spacious, a well stocked kitchen with every utensil you could need and immaculately clean and comfortable. There is a porch to enjoy watching the dogs play and have morning coffee plus an upstairs balcony and seating area that gives the most amazing views of the loch, it’s quiet and calm, serene and breathtaking, I could happily spend hours with a book up there, the pictures do not do it justice. To be fair there is not a bad view from any window in the house! Beds are comfy, showers hot and a bbq outside, what more could you need. This is an amazing base to explore the area, the hosts were helpful and accessible if you needed them, we could not recommend enough and will be back both separately and together for future holidays as it was an unforgettable one chock full of memories to treasure.

Heaven

Ardfyne is a beautiful and well appointed property with stunning views over the waters of loch Fyne and the surrounding hills. Sadly VRBO only allows us to award this property and its hosts 5 stars (Here is a suggestion VRBO, perhaps you could have an additional accolade for properties and hosts who exceed expectations).

Great speedy comms with owners. Wonderful week with family celebrating a birthday and enjoying the nearby sights as well as enjoying the comforts of a well maintained house. A special hit was the George Foreman grill, the snooker table, the upstairs balcony as well the magnificent views. Did a few trips in the area so well positioned plus a few meals in nearby taverns. About the host

Hosted by Ella Morris

Host profile image
I am a retired school teacher and my husband and I live near Loch Lomond just an hour's drive from Ardfyne.
We have always run self catering in Scotland and we felt that the house offered guests perfect peace and quiet as well as stunning views of Loch Fyne, a spectacular sea loch on the west coast.
The large garden was an added attraction and I have worked on it over the last 8 years to turn it into a garden that can be enjoyed by everyone.

Why they chose this property

We just love the west coast of Scotland as the scenery is so dramatic and diverse.
Ardfyne is in an amazing location, set into the hillside just above the village of Strachur. You can have complete privacy and peace and quiet yet you are only a short walk from the village shop and post office.
The house itself is extremely spacious with 2 large public areas, a huge kitchen, 2 areas of decking, a games room and 4 bedrooms. 3 of these bedrooms are very large with en-suites.
The house looks out across Strachur Bay to the tourist town of Inverary and the distant hills. It also looks down the sea loch for miles. You can watch the activity of yachts and dinghies at the pontoon or indeed passing fishing boats and the naval exercises of schooners.

What makes this property unique

Ardfyne is an architect designed house so it is one of a kind.
Offers 234 square metres of living space plus 27 square metres of decked area so masses of space.
Its location is outstanding.
Its peace and quiet.
