The Golden Valley: A rural paradise in the Sierra de Cádiz.

El Valle Dorado is a beautiful rustic house with a stone facade located in a privileged area in the municipality of El Gastor, 30 minutes from Ronda and 35 from Grazalema. In El Valle Dorado you can enjoy beautiful views of the Zahara - El Gastor reservoir and watch the sunset watching the sun slowly set behind the mountains.

Distributed on two floors, it has on the ground floor a large living room with fireplace, a fully equipped American kitchen, a bathroom and a bedroom with double bed. Upstairs it has two bedrooms with two single beds each.

In the outdoor area has a private pool, barbecue, picnic area and fruit trees.

Perfect.

We had very high expectations having read previous reviews of this property. It is fair to say that these were exceeded. In particular the pool, large, very clean and the surrounding area offering both sun and shade with a fantastic view. If you are considering booking this property, do not hesitate. We enjoyed all aspects of our stay.

Such a beautiful place, we want to live here!

This house is stunning. Incredible views, lovely relaxing outdoor living spaces. With a westerly aspect we saw some amazing sunsets every day, whilst having dinner on one of the 5 different seating areas! We really couldn't find anything to fault this place for and Luis Jr and luis Snr were lovely hosts. Believe the pictures, for once they don't lie, if anything they don't fully do it justice.

Fabulous villa with gorgeous views

We loved this villa. It was well kitted out and the outside space was fabulous - particularly the pool. And the views were stupendous. The owners were very helpful, although the initial meet up at a local garage proved a bit tricky! The only things that would make the stay even more perfect would be a 1.80m bed and a better shower.

Amazing position, views and sunsets in the mountains

Loved staying here, the property is very comfortable, well equipped, great pool and very clean. The highlight though is the position, looking out across the lake towards Zehra de la Sierra and facing west you get the benefit of the evening sun. The local village El Gastor is not touristy at all so you get a real feel for the local people and their way of life. At the same time there is plenty to see and explore in the vicinity with restaurants and bars close at hand, alongside ancient monuments and historical buildings. For nature lovers there are extensive walks in the area, with mountains, forests, olive groves and an abundance of vultures and eagles souring past to gaze at. I booked this property based purely on the image of the table on the terrace facing towards the lake; it was even better in reality.

Lovely villa in a spectacular location

The most spectacular location for a villa with views over the valley and to the mountains at the other side. Beautiful sunsets over the lake and sunrise over the mountain top behind the villa. The villa was very well equipped, plenty of kitchen equipment and 2 BBQs (on which we did almost all our cooking). The white villages are beautiful and Ronda is definitely worth a visit, but the villa is so good we were happy most days to relax round the pool. There are plenty of places to sit or lie in the sun or shade at any time of day. Luis and family were very helpful and friendly. Overall a fantastic, relaxing holiday.

What an amazing place!

I've rented a few houses in Spain for a holiday but this is the first time I felt really valued as a customer. It was more like being welcomed by family! The house has everything you need. It was spotlessly clean. 30 mins to Ronda which is a must to visit. Many other Towns nearby, drive the mountain road back from Setenil if you go, it's well worth it and safe. The views are simply amazing from the house with sunsets so beautiful each evening. It's quiet, any dogs and chickens are far away and it's safe and secure. Very highly recommended.

A rural paradise

Everything about this property was amazing. The villa itself is comfy, well thought out and very well equipped. We had everything we needed and more, with nice finishing touches. The setting is incredible - the villa is completely private and not overlooked. Surrounded by beautiful gardens filled with flowers, vines and fruit trees. The view and sunset was unforgettable, and there were a total of 7 different places to sit outside around the property, to enjoy sun or shade at any time of day. The pool was very welcome on the hot days, and we made good use of the BBQ. El Gastor is close by, and Ronda a 30minute drive from the property, which is where we bought all our groceries before arrival. Raúl checked us in and was very kind and helpful. I would definitely go back again!

What a view!

Booked for the view and it didn't dissapoint! Sitting out watching the sunset was wonderful. The entire property is finished to a high standard and everything needed was present. The pool was chilly, but it was March, but I still had to go in, as it looked so inviting in the sun! Our hosts were on hand for any requests, checking if all was okay, but not intrusive. All in all, probably the best property we have rented for a week's holiday.

Great location with stunning views

What a fantastic place this is. Couldn’t fault it at all. Lovely clean and very private house in a great location and the views are stunning. Nice and quiet and relaxing and away from it all. Just what we wanted. Terrific sunsets at night too!! Lot of seating areas outside in either shade or sun. I could have sat and watched the circling griffon vultures (lots of them) all day long. Mesmerising site! Weather was also fantastic for March. Good pool and also a couple of big bbqs should you require them. On arrival at El Gastor, we were met by Luis and his mother and they were both charming, friendly and helpful people. They supplied us with a few essentials in the house, which is always a nice touch. From first booking the house, Luis was always very quick with his responses to any questions I had and also whilst there he was only a phone call/email away should we have needed him. This house suited our needs perfectly and highly recommend it without hesitation. We’ll definitely be back.

Perfect in every way!

I would unhesitatingly recommend this property to anyone who likes the feel of an "away from it all holiday" whilst knowing that within minutes they can be in lovely villages amid wonderful scenery! The house is perfect both inside and out and the views from the garden are simply sensational. We have travelled extensively in Spain and without doubt this is the best accomodation we have ever stayed in. Thank you Luis!

A lovely house in a truly stunning location, the view is incredible.

Everything a visitor could need is in the house and along with the stunning view and lovely pool it is a wonderful base from which to see the beautiful local area. Highly recommended and I'm sure we will be back in the future.

Highly recommended

My husband and I and our grown-up daughter had such a wonderful time in this lovely villa. The views are spectacular and a great accompaniment to mealtimes, especially at sunset. Everything about the villa has been done with such thought and care - there are places to sit or eat in sun or shade at all times of day. Everywhere was very clean and there was lots of storage. It was a bonus having a covered car port so that the car could be kept in the shade. I don't think the property description mentions it (although you can see from the pictures) but there is a second toilet in the utility room below the house, which is handy. Luis' parents visited each Wednesday and Saturday for maintenance, but they were gone before we were up and we never heard them. We knew they had been because they left us a pile of produce from the garden on the table by the door! The garden was like a store cupboard - there were lemons, grapes, plums, figs, almonds, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, aubergines, even pomegranates, all of which we were encouraged to eat (though of course not all ripe at the same time of year) The property is completely private and not overlooked at all, even though there are other houses not far away. There are plenty of beautiful and interesting places to visit within a short drive, and even more if you're prepared to drive 60-90 minutes. As others have mentioned, it was delightful watching the eagles and to have the use of the quality binoculars provided. As we sat outside one evening, a couple of owls came and sat on the awning just by us. We did meet Luis, his aunt and his parents who were all charming, helpful and made us feel most welcome. Although we were left to ourselves, Luis was only a call or a text away if we needed anything. Over the years we have stayed in villas elsewhere in Spain, France, Italy, and Greece, but this is the best so far.

Superb villa

I could not recommend this place more - we had a truly fantastic holiday here. We all agreed that reality exceeded the photographs! The house is very comfortable & clean, & the outdoor space is beautiful. The location is excellent: great walks nearby, cycling on the Via Verde at Olvera, & convenient for visiting Ronda & the rock houses of Setenil de las Bodegas. Thank you, we would love to return.

Amazing

Wow wow wow this place is great, amazing hosts and property. Fully kitted out for our every needs, the views and privacy are great. The hosts were easy to communicate with and replied to my emails straight away but never imposed themselves on us. It’s a great central position for day trips and also lovely to relax by the pool. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic views from lovely old farmhouse

We had a lovely 3 nights in this well restored old house with fantastic views over the mountains in this untouristy part of Spain, but still close to Ronda. Luis and his mother were great hosts - meeting us and showing us the house as well as popping over immediately when we had a problem with the cooker. Being November we couldn’t enjoy the lovely looking pool but we did appreciate the gas bbq, and the wood burning stove in the living area. The open plan kitchen/living and dining area is quite small for a family but I’m sure in Summer you would spend all your time outside with its terraces and shaded areas with several sets of tables and chairs and pair of loungers. A lovely quiet spot to stay with plenty of interesting villages and hiking trails nearby.

An away from it all adventure

A big thank you to Luis Hormigo & his family who made us feel very welcome at their stunning Villa. Casa Campo de Ana is a rural idyll overlooking the Zahara reservoir with a vista to die for. Close by are many must-see locations such as Ronda, Setenil, Zahara, Olvera (with fairytale like castle on a hill) & a moderate drive away is the Caminito Del Rey. The Villa has a lovely, large pool & every comfort including air conditioning in all areas. If you don't mind being a little off the beaten track then a holiday here restores the mojo & the area offers wonderful memories. Be mindful it will be very much a driving holiday but roads are good, be careful through the villages as space is limited.

Peaceful with fabulous views.

This property is amazing. Every day we discovered new and interesting things just strolling around the grounds. It was comfortable and quiet and felt perfectly safe and secure. Even the neighbor donkeys only said hello the first night. We did manage to lock ourselves out within the first hour we were on the property but the host was wonderful and came right back out to fix us. :) Would definitely stay here again and it made a great central location for us to explore the surrounding villages and countryside.

Beautiful views!

We enjoyed our stay! The house is cozy and the view is breathtaking. We had a little trouble at the beginning -- finding the meeting place and communicating with Luis but once it was sorted out, we were able to relax in the beautiful surroundings.

Wunderschönes Ferienhaus

Wir waren zum zweiten Mal in diesem tollen Haus und waren wieder begeistert. Das Haus mit dem wunderschönen Garten dem Pool hat eine sehr gute Ausstattung. Fantastisch ist die Aussicht von der Terrasse und abends die sagenhaften Sonnenuntergänge. Auch die Umgebung mit den kleinen, weißen Dörfern wie El Gastor, Setenil, Olvera, Zahara oder Grazalema hat viel zu bieten.

Lovely week in a lovely area

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in El Gastor. The house was as pictured, though unfortunately it was unseasonably cold so we could not use the pool. Instead, we got to enjoy a fire most nights! The view across the valley is gorgeous, and the mountain peak just behind the house is also beautiful. We visited Olvera, Grazalema, Zahara, Setinil de las Bodegas, and Ronda; all nearby and easily accessible by car. We rented bikes in Olvera and cycled the Via Verde, and we hiked to the dolmen just up from the town. The Gastrobar in El Gastor has great food and views. Thank you Luis!

Rustic comfort with a million dollar view

El Valle Dorado was the perfect perch for my husband and me to explore the beautiful white towns area of Southern Spain. The house is very comfortable, and the kitchen is extremely well equipped. We stayed during a cold snap, and the heating worked well. In warmer weather, the outdoor amenities like the pool and extensive outdoor seating areas would be wonderful. Host Luis speaks good English, and he and his parents were charming. The meeting point at the El Gastor gas station was convenient and simple to find. For larger groups, the fact that there is only one bathroom should be considered. For the two of us, it was no problem.

Amazed in Andalusia

The best rental and our favourite spot throughout our trip around Spain. Luis' and his family are so kind, hospitable, easy to communicate with and host the most lovely property. Stunning views, poolside lounging and while we were there in January, the fireplace made for an extra cozy and relaxing evening. It is so well equipped you could host family dinner here and our only wish is that we stayed longer. Next time! Highly recommend as you explore El Gastor, the little white villages, the wine region, Ronda etc. Thank you Luis & Family
