About this property

Rural location, Test Valley, Barn Conversion. 4 miles from Stockbridge.

Blacklake Barn is a delightful self contained annex with two bedrooms, a sitting room, bathroom, and kitchen and breakfast area. Both the bathroom and kitchen have recently been refurbished to a high standard. Wonderfully light and spacious, the barn has original exposed beams and a rustic feel. For colder months, there is a very efficient wood burner in the sitting room as well as central heating in all of the rooms.
The kitchen is fully equipped.
There are two bedrooms, one double with a super king size bed and one single with a single bed and a mattress is also available.
Uniquely located on the Clarendon Way, the ancient Pilgrims route between the iconic cathedrals towns of Winchester and Salisbury.
Please note that the Barn is not suitable for under 4s.

Cosy stay during winter

We spent 3 weeks at Ingrid's place and had an amazing stay. The place really provides for everything you need from cooking utensils to dryer and dishwasher, full bathroom and comfortable beds. A highlight for us in the winter months was the fireplace. Ingrid and her husband made sure we had everything we needed and even organised firewood for us. We loved the rural location of the place and felt right at home. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

A lovely place to stay

The barn was such a fantastic place to stay well equipped with everything we needed. The garden was lovely and peaceful for breakfast in the morning and the living room cosy and comfortable in the evening. It's location was perfect for visiting Winchester and Salisbury. The track leading to the house was interesting being quite uneven but taken slowly added to the charm of the property and enjoyment of our stay. Charles and Ingrid were great hosts and we would definitely book again.

Beautiful barn conversion

Stunning. Huge kitchen fully equipped, huge lounge, two big bedrooms, excellent modern bathroom. Large garden. I only gave the location 4 stars because the approach is difficult, off a very rough unmade road - not recommended if you have a low sports car! Otherwise - highly recommended for everyone else!

Long Weekend Break

The photos don't do the barn justice - it really was perfect for us and outdid our expectations. It was warm, spacious, clean, light, and extremely well equipped (kitchen). Always hot water for bath/shower with excellent water pressure. A particularly comfortable bed! Beautiful private outlook onto the garden, lots of walking routes available from the front door. Walking distance to a fantastic pub (The Boot). Highly recommend this property :)

Peaceful stay

Lovely property, despite being a little off the main road, we followed the comprehensive instructions and the place was easy to locate. We enjoyed being away from any main roads, the peace and quiet was lovely. The home itself, is spacious and clean, equipped with everything we needed. Great communication from the owners, who were responsive and helpful. We loved getting visits from "Poppy" their friendly dog and sitting in the garden with a morning cuppa was blissful.

Lovely countryside escape

The barn is tucked away, but it’s well worth the effort to find it, and the instructions provided by our hosts enabled us to so without any problems. The barn itself is very spacious, clean and well appointed, and although you are attached to the main house, you feel isolated and can enjoy a peaceful break in the countryside. There are some lovely local walks, and The Boot in Houghton village, which is a 15 minute walk, is very nice and serves great food. Take a torch if you are going there after dark.

Beautiful Test Valley Barn

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay in this lovely property. Local walks are second to none - the barn is situated by the River Test about a 10 minute walk into the idyllic local village of Houghton - a walk to the Boot Inn for lunch is highly recommended . The barn makes the most of all the original features (it was the barn for the cows years ago) and is artistically and comfortably furnished to a high standard . It’s a warm and welcoming home from home. The hosts were very welcoming with excellent local knowledge of the area and places to eat etc Winchester is a 25 minute drive away and is an interesting city to visit with plenty to see and do.

Stockbridge barn

Overall we had a good stay, the barn was equipped with everything we needed and was warm enough, lovely large garden and area is great for walking, lovely and quiet. Only negative is the lounge settees which were extremely uncomfortable to sit on but overall a good stay.

Fantastic location

Beautiful barn, clean and spacious. Warm and on a chilly night the property owner was happy to come and start the fire for us. Owners are friendly and we had everything we needed. Provided very good instructions to find the property abd it was a beautiful location. Stockbridge was a lovely town and we highly recommend the Kudos Coffee Shop and The Crown Inn for dinner.

Lovely Stay

A little difficult to find especially if you plug the suggested post code into SatNav. There is an alternative way which is much more straighforward. The house and location were great. It is a terrific part of the England to visit with much to do. We were only there for 4 days and could have spent longer.
