About this property

Village property with parking and sunny enclosed courtyard garden

Saltwater is 2 bedroom modern property spread over three floors. It has been newly decorated and furnished. It is situated in the pretty Georgian village of Shaldon close to beaches and a river.

The property features 2 beautifully presented bedrooms on the top floor - a double bedroom and a bunk bedroom (please note bunk beds suited to under 12 years). You’ll also find a modern shower room with toilet and sink here. The first floor accommodates the lounge with a fold down dining table seating up to 4 and a flat screen TV (complete with Amazon Prime and catch up TV), well equipped kitchen and access out to a sunny courtyard where alfresco dining can be enjoyed at the 4 seater patio table. There is also a small wc on this floor.

On the ground floor you will find a useful storage room with a washing machine, picnic hamper, and cool bag. These are all for guests to use once you’ve made the 5 minute level walk to the beach. Outside the front door is a private covered parking space for one vehicle (additional free on street parking also available).

The property offers complimentary Wifi . Everything you should need for a relaxing break is here including hairdryer, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, cooker and washing machine.

A travel cot, high chair, baby bath/shower seat, toddler steps and potty can be provided on request.

The cottage is in a popular Seaside village and benefits from an excellent location only a short walking distance to beaches, cafes, pubs, and local shops.

Many visitors return year after year and regular events like Shaldon Water Carnival and the 10 day Regatta are always popular. The Village has a local store, beauty salon, gift shops and is even home to a small zoo - Shaldon Wildlife Trust, a unique small conservation centre housing rare breeds set in an acre of woodland garden. You’ll also find an 18 hole approach golf course next to the zoo.

In the unlikely event you run out of things to see and do in Shaldon then the Victorian Seaside resort of Teignmouth is a short ferry ride away (or you can drive there in 5 minutes). Teignmouth offers additional places to visit including the Grand Pier, a large play park and a dinosaur themed crazy golf course. There are also lots of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes here plus the local train station links you to nearby Newton Abbot, Torquay and Exeter and beyond.

Dartmoor and the South Hams are also within easy reach and are popular for day trips. There are numerous scenic walks nearby, please get in touch if you want any route ideas.

* please be aware the bunk beds are slightly smaller than standard singles so are only recommended for children under 12 years old.

* While we are prepared to accept dogs this needs to be approved in advance and an extra fee applies. We also ask that any pets do not go in the bedrooms or on the sofa, Please get in touch with more details.

Wonderful!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this delightful little terrace. Beautifully done out and with everything you need. Close to lovely estuary walks and the great Georgian village with its many pubs, cafes and independent shops. Abi the host responded promptly to any messages - a 5 star stay for sure.

Shaldon at Christmas

We stayed at Saltwater over the Christmas period and was able to enjoy all that Shaldon has to offer at this time of year.Saltwater was a great property for the two of us. It is in an ideal position with its own parking (which is a must in the village), close to the centre and all the activity. It was an ideal size for us, spotlessly clean and decorated for Christmas for our arrival- which was a very nice touch.Thank you!

Excellent property

We were extremely pleased with the property, very clean and everything supplied for our stay. One small suggestion some kind of shower caddy is needed - no where to put shower gel, shampoo etc except on the floor of the shower.

Shaldon

Lovely cottage, very clean, great location / area. I had travelled through before this time & enjoyed Ness Cove & Smugglers tunnel. Took the ferry across toTeignmouth, brilliant! Took a detour to A La Ronde on way home- recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

Loved Shaldon and Teignmouth

We had a very enjoyable stay at the cottage. Everything was within an easy walking distance or short car ride. Saltwater cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We travelled to Teignmouth via the ferry which took about 5 minutes to cross over. We also took the scenic train route up the coast. Would definitely stay again.

Just what we needed

This property was very presented, in a perfect location. Everything is accessible on foot, so our car stayed parked on driveway. There are lots of lovely walks and plenty of welcoming dog friendly pubs & cafes to stop at. We thoroughly enjoyed a very relaxing mini break

Comfortable and well placed cottage.

Comfortable cottage with all the necessary amenities and an undercover parking bay. Well placed in a lovely Georgian village overlooking the river Teign and out sea. Easy to explore the surrounding countryside, beaches and Teignmouth. The shops in the village provide all your basic needs for a great holiday and there are several good pubs/restaurants as well. All very quaint.

Shh! Don’t tell anyone about Shaldon.

A super property in a super place. Shaldon is a Devon delight, close enough to everything you want and far enough away from everything you don’t. Saltwater comes perfectly equipped for a relaxing stay - clean, contemporary with classic touches and nothing to disturb you other than the early-rising seagulls.

Unplanned break

Nice smart property conveniently located and well equipped. Only draw back was the traffic noise as we had not realised how busy the road at the front of the property was.

A quiet break

A very enjoyable out of season break avoiding the summer crowds. Only two of us plus the dog, so the cottage was more than adequate and very well located within easy walk of the beach plus a brilliant butchers and village store. A big plus is the undercroft parking as parking is an issue in the village even out of season. Cottage is well equipped and ideal for self catering. The local pubs are ok but not as good out of season. Overall a lovely break for both of us.

Perfect short break

Staying in the lovely cottage in Shaldon was an absolute delight! The accommodation itself is excellent and close to amenities. The village boasts a bakery, inviting pubs, and the fantastic Clipper restaurant, ensuring there's never a shortage of delicious dining options. Additionally, the short walk to Teignmouth provided ample opportunities to explore the pier, browse quaint shops, indulge in cozy cafes, and even take a scenic ferry back to Shaldon, making it a truly memorable and picturesque getaway. Shaldon Zoo was also a great way to spend a few hours. We didn’t use the car the whole time we were there either so racked up quite a few steps, which was another bonus! Would highly recommend to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat in a beautiful setting!

Nicely decorated, well equipped and convenient location

We loved our stay here. The location is very convenient and the parking space is a definite bonus in Shaldon. The house is very well equipped. The children loved the bunk room with play tent. We particularly liked the ground floor utility room where we could leave wet and sandy beach gear. The house is simply and tastefully furnished in a seaside style and the owners really have put a lot of thought into equipping it to make it a home from home. There are several good shops and cafes in Shaldon, the village has an upmarket feel to it. We liked the cafe by the beach for a morning coffee whilst watching the mist clear from the water. The smugglers tunnel to the other beach at Ness Cove was a hit with the children. Would love to stay again!

Beautiful beach break

Well equipped and beautifully decorated house. 10 minutes walk to town beach - further 10 minutes (well worth the effort) to Ness Cove, through the Smugglers Tunnel. Shaldon is a traditional English seaside town, overlooking the estuary to Teignmouth. A good selection of local shops including a butcher and bakery and enough pubs/restaurants to please most people. We loved it and would definitely return.

Lovely place to stay

The cottage itself is lovely, light and airy, clean and well equiped. The parking space is a godsend. It was nice to have the outside space to sit in when the weather was nice. It's in walking distance of a general store, butcher, bakery, pharmacy, pubs and cafes, beaches and botanical garden. Be sure to visit Shaldon zoo and go through the smugglers tunnel to Ness Cove. You can also take a ferry across to Teignmouth. We didn't need to use the car at all while we were there. Would be happy to stay there again.

Great cottage !

Lovely place. Great location. Parking is a real bonus! The bunk beds are small especially the top bunk with not much head room but it’s a lovely room for the little ones. The cottage is just lovely. Can’t wait to go back.

Best sleep in a long time!

We've never stayed in this area before, but the house was in a great location, sort walk to shops, pubs and not too far to walk to Teignmouth. The house was lovely, had everything we needed, it was very clean. The bed was so comfortable I didn't want to come home! I haven't slept so well for a long time. We would definitely consider staying here again. The one thing I would change is maybe another comfy chair in the living room. Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend.
