Perfect Cornish coastal retreat!

The barn was very light, bright and airy with a beachy coastal look to compliment it's location. It has 2 lovely little secluded garden areas just for guests...perfect for an afternoon cuppa or glass of prosecco after a day of sightseeing. It's very open plan inside but maintains a cosy feel. There's also designated off-road parking for guests. The location is very peaceful and is ideal for visiting local attractions such as Lands End, St Michael's Mount plus various beaches etc. The owners Becky and Ben live on site but are in no way intrusive. Becky greeted us on arrival and gave us a quick tour of the barn before leaving us to enjoy our holiday...and the welcome bottle of prosecco !! Both are very friendly and clearly very proud of their holiday home, which we wouldn't hesitate to rebook if we're down that way again.

Perfect retreat.

Everything about our stay was wonderful, the warm welcome, beautifully decorated cottage, outstanding cleanliness, peaceful and beautiful area. When we go away the accommodation is one of the most important details for us and we really cannot praise The Long Barn enough, set in lush countryside and ideally placed to explore West Cornwall, we looked forward to returning to the sunny terrace for a glass of wine in the late afternoons. Thank you Beccy and Ben, we’ll see you again.

Lovely stay

Beautiful secluded location. The owners were lovely and extremely helpful, probably some of the nicest owners we have met.. The property is tastefully decorated and extremely clean. We also loved the fact that the property is not overlooked. Very comfortable. Plenty of space for your car. Loved the fact that you can walk to Mousehole and Newlyn. We often walked into Newlyn and caught the coaster bus to Sennen and Lands End. You can also go to the Minack and Porthcurno as well as St Ives. We loved getting the bus everywhere as it enabled us to have pub lunches with a beer or glass of wine. Thoroughly recommended!

Perfect

Beccy and Ben’s accommodation in The Long Barn is exceptional. All the previous reviews are 5 stars and there is a reason for that. Extremely comfortable bed, gorgeous bathroom with an excellent shower and a very useful log fire for cosy nights. Quiet surroundings and within easy driving distance of both coasts. Also easy walk into Mousehole which must be one of the prettiest old fishing villages in Cornwall. Thanks to Beccy and Ben for being excellent hosts. Needless to say, we will be returning Perfect. Perfect retreat!

Would return here in a heartbeat, we loved it! Beccy and Ben are such genuinely lovely friendly people. They both greeted us on arrival, Beccy showed us around and explained where everything was and how things worked such a nice personal touch and made us feel relaxed and welcomed. So nice to know they were just across the way if we needed them. The Long Barn is beautiful! From it’s authentic stone exterior, to the spacious light airy interior, to the little private enclosed courtyard seating areas and garden. It’s simple, tasteful interior is so clean, cozy and comfortable. Everything to such a high standard with some lovely little personal touches which make it so homely. Such a peaceful, tranquil place we slept so well! Check out Beccy’s artwork on the walls really lovely. We ate in most nights, the kitchen was well equipped, everything thought of, even a little dishwasher. We were blessed with gorgeous weather and sat most evenings in our little courtyard gazing at the night skies, so clear because there is no light pollution and watching the bats with their acrobatics catching moths and insects. Blissful. Location is perfect for exploring the amazing south coast. Walking or driving it’s spectacular! Beccy and Ben have also compiled a really helpful welcome pack full of information and suggestions from contact numbers for Taxis to best places to eat and visit. Perfect retreat! We’ll be back!

A home from home

We had such a lovely stay in the Long Barn! And it was long, very spacious but cosy too! We got damp during the day a couple of times, so it was fab to come back and run a hot bath to warm up. It would have been lovely to sit outside in the private garden and have our breakfast but the weather had other ideas! We cooked a couple of nights and the kitchen had everything we needed, the meal being enjoyed with the complimentary bottle of wine. We slept really well every night, the bed was very comfy and the whole barn was plenty warm enough when the temperature outside dropped. Beccy and Ben were perfect hosts too! We will definitely recommend staying here to our friends and hope to stay again. The location was perfect for exploring the south coast of Cornwall - it’s a shame we had to come home! Thank you for looking after us so well xx

Gorgeous Barn!!

We met Beccy and Ben on our arrival at Long Barn and received such a lovely warm welcome from them both. We were shown around their beautiful barn and shown where everything was and they then left us to it. I cannot recommend this property enough, has everything you need, spotlessly clean, lovely little homely touches which go a long way. Has wifi, smart TV with Netflix if you require these things. The bed/bedding was so comfortable, we had two areas to sit outside, one was right outside our bedroom door and then a more private area at the top end of the property and we had our own private parking space. Such a very peaceful and quiet area, with beautiful night skies with no light pollution. Great place to stay so you can easily travel to Lands End, St Ives, Penzance and many other places. Thank you so much Beccy and Ben, we will definitely be back!! x :o)

Beautiful high quality spacious modern accommodation for two with everything we needed in a lovely quiet setting adjacent to the owners farmhouse. Becky and Ben were the perfect hosts and made us very welcome. The location is down a single tracked road but is very conveniently located for both sides of the peninsular. I cannot think of anything to complain about. Would not hesitate to come again if down in the area.

About the host

Hosted by Beccy Marshall

Host profile image
My name is Beccy Marshall, I work from home as an artist and my husband Ben is a carpenter/furniture maker. We were both born and brought up in West Cornwall and have lived on this peninsula for all of our lives. We have excellent local knowledge of the area, benefiting our guests if they wish to know of the best restaurants , walks, beaches an places to visit . We ran the Sandpiper Gallery in Mousehole for nine years. After selling the Gallery we decided to buy this beautiful property at Chyenhal. Moving here in October 2017, Ben decided to completely renovate The Long Barn that sits in the grounds of our main property including four and a half acres of our own private meadows.

Why they chose this property

When we came to view the property at Chyenhal , we knew straight away that we wished to purchase it . It is such a peaceful tranquil place to live , just slightly in land but close to the A30 , making it very quick and easy to get to the coast and to all of the local facilities. Ben has surfed and sailed here all of his life and has a traditional sailing boat which is moored in Mousehole harbour. He is also a Harbour Commissioner so it is important for us to be able to get to the beaches and the Harbour fairly quickly, yet still have the the peacefulness of this away from it all location.
Chyenhal is a small rural hamlet with only three other nearby neighbours. It is a little piece of old Cornwall that has been left untouched by modern life , making it a perfect retreat for your holiday.
