Mallards sleeps 8 and there is also accommodation for an infant in the travel cot provided. The ground floor consists of a kitchen, lobby and large living room with exposed beams, wood effect floors, inglenook, and wood-burning stove (fuel available at the nearby deli/shop). Both bath/shower rooms are also equipped with heated towel rails. There is also a clothes horse on site for drying clothes outside in sunny weather.
Outside, the cottage has front and rear gardens. Sliding doors open onto the front lawned garden which catches the morning sun. To the rear, a standing barbecue is built into the wall of the yard, which catches the evening sun in spring and summer. Thornham is a charming, picturesque, and quiet village, close to the old harbour and sea, and is surrounded by open countryside. There are lovely ancient trackways and coastal walks along dunes and sweeping beaches, with bird watching available at nearby Titchwell, Redwell Marsh and Scolt Head nature reserves.
There are three traditional pub restaurants in the village which welcome children and serve excellent Norfolk food and real ale. Dogs are also welcome in the bar areas. The friendly village deli/shop provides for day-to-day needs of groceries, newspapers, etc, and there is also a cafe/bistro. A well-equipped play area is available near to the deli, which is a 2-minute walk from Mallards, off road and across a green. Major supermarkets and shopping are available a 15-minute drive away in nearby Hunstanton, a charming traditional seaside town with entertainment for adults and children, including beachfront amusements, fun fair, swimming pool, bowling alley, bandstand concerts on the green and a sea life centre.
Further afield there are many old villages and market towns to explore, such as Wells, Burnham Market, Holt and the birthplace of Nelson, Burnham Thorpe, where the parish church lectern is said to be made from timbers taken from his ship HMS Victory. Nearby stately homes with gardens are open to the public, such as Houghton, Holkham and the Queen’s country estate at Sandringham. Brancaster Staithe is nearby for dinghy sailing, sailboard hire (tuition available) and boat trips, including seal watching. Two local golf courses welcome visitors. Fresh fish and seafood are available in Brancaster.

Very much enjoyed.

Very much enjoyed. Lovely house and although lots of neighbours it was really quiet. Had everything we would need for a break away. Sofas not that comfortable would be the only thing I would change. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We had a super Christmas break at Mallards and the cottage easily accommodated all 6 of us.

We had a super Christmas break at Mallards and the cottage easily accommodated all 6 of us. We cooked a full turkey dinner with everything we needed available in the kitchen. House is very cosy and comfortable with a log fire when it gets cold outside. We went for beautiful walks by the sea and visited local pubs for a pint. The deli is great and the fish and chip shop and fishmongers outstanding. Highly recommend this place.

A lovely family holiday - enjoying low key stuff: walking, exploring and crabbing at Blakeney! My low score on equipment reflects the fact that there was no hairdryer, no soap in bathroom and no rinseaid in dishwasher meaning that crockery was not properly cleansed. An additional charge of £60 for having dogs is somewhat punitive.

A very comfortable cottage with easy parking in a great location.

A very comfortable cottage with easy parking in a great location. Shower pump a bit noisy upstairs but it didn’t wake the kids! Decor is traditional rather than contemporary but it is well equipped with a spacious feel. Good value for money and its bigger than it looks. Would book again.

This was the perfect cottage for us.

This was the perfect cottage for us. My parent had easy access to easy access to everything they needed downstairs while we had the bathroom and bedrooms upstairs. The open plan lounge diner kitchen area was spacious and comfortable but also beautiful and homely. Having two outdoor areas both fenced off ment we didn't need to worry about our dog excapeing. Great beaches, restaurants and delis in easy reach. Owner has people locally to help with any issues too.

Great location.

Great location. Lovely local walks. Cottage is very warm and has a cosy feeling. Early morning sun in the front, afternoon sun in the back, ideal! Very safe for dogs - no escaping! Well stocked equipment and beds are comfortable and clean. Large kitchen table adequate for 8. Two local pubs, the chequers and the lifeboat provide good food although they are rather pricey! The only thing that could be improved is the lounge sofas, they have seen better days and are tricky to get out of as you sink so low however, I would recommend this cottage.

You do need to travel to Hunstanton for your usual supermarkets (not actually local but they are close) however the Delhi and farm shop are good. All-in-all a nice place to stay.

Everything was fine and it was useful having all the cottage information before we went.

Everything was fine and it was useful having all the cottage information before we went. It was convenient for beaches, RSPB reserve, Hunstanton and many other places. It had everything we needed for a family of 6.
