About this property

Gracious, Airy New London Cottage, Steps from Private Beach

This recently restored light-filled, breezy 1909 beach house is located in historic Neptune Park. The spacious home, which has been in the same family for 50 years, features a wide wrap-around porch overlooking Long Island Sound. Enjoy the charm of antique furniture and vintage art. Views extend to Fishers Island and include New London's Ledge Lighthouse and frequent ferries plying the harbor.

The house can accommodate a maximum of six people, including children.

The first floor boasts a large living room, a formal dining room, well-equipped eat-in kitchen, and a half bath. The ample porch is set up as an outdoor living room, with a glider, rocker, armchairs and picnic table.

On the second floor, you'll find a large bedroom with a Queen bed, a 2nd bedroom with Queen bed, a 3rd bedroom with 2 twin beds, a TV room, and a full bath.

The ground floor features a enclosed bath house for showering after a swim, full-size washer and dryer, beach chairs, gas grill as well as a Weber charcoal grill.

The house is naturally cool and breezy. It does not have central air. However, AC window units are available for the second floor rooms. Each bedroom has a standing fan and bedroom 1 additionally has a ceiling fan.

Across the street, you'll find a sea walk that connects a series of private beaches punctuated by picturesque rocky outcrops and jetties.

Ocean Beach Park, one of New England's premier destinations, lies just down the block. It's renowned for its broad expanse of fine white sand along a half-mile boardwalk.

Simply Lovely!

Our first trip to the New England area was truly memorable, especially because we found the perfect beachside home. Brian's family home exceeded our expectations, offering not only stunning sound views but also a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The nostalgic details throughout the house gave us a deep sense of comfort and togetherness. The family's pride is evident in the extensive library and the artwork showcasing New London's rich history. Although we didn't meet anyone in person, the well-stocked home made us feel genuinely cared for. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

Wonderful Beach "Cottage"

This was the perfect place for us to stay in New London and get our fill of beach while visiting relatives. The property is part of an historic neighborhood, and all the original homes are over 100, so don't expect modern perfection. This is an altogether different type of perfection. When we arrived, there were fresh hydrangeas in vases throughout the first floor to welcome us. The gardens are lovely (and the monarchs seemed to agree). Our family has strong connections to the area, so we loved all the historical pictures and books worked into the decor. The huge porch and numerous windows provide a constant sea breeze and we never even noticed that we were largely without AC in mid-July. The window AC in the bedrooms was plenty to guarantee comfortable sleeping. We ranged in age from 25 to 92 and all were more than happy with the property and hoping we'll have a chance to return. If you appreciate a property with some history and quirks and you love quiet beach access, sea breezes, and a lovely unpretentious place to relax you'll love this.

The house was great! So cute, with great water views . Online photo’s don’t do it justice. The outdoor porch was a great place to hang out. The beds were super comfy. House was also super clean. We would definitely stay here again.

Can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely loved the house, exactly as pictured with somehow an even better view/location than expected. The house was charming, historic, clean, comfortable and well-stocked. We had no issue making a few meals and had plenty of options from serve-ware to glassware. The newly finished porch was absolute perfection (our group spent most of our time out there) and falling asleep to the sounds of crashing waves is unmatched. Beach couldn’t be closer and the few neighbors we met were super friendly. Brian was super communicative before and during our stay and left easy check in/check out instructions. This is the exact type of home I dream of owning some day! Highly recommend a stay here

Steps from the beach!

This older house has a lot of character, and was comfortable for our family of four in town for a relative's wedding. It was lovely waking up to see the sunrise over the water through the bedroom windows, and walking just across the street down to the water to hear the waves. Brian keeps the house well stocked, and everything was clean and tidy! We thought the weather would be cold, but instead it was unexpectedly warm -- open windows and the floor fans in the house kept it comfortable inside. It was an enjoyable stay!

This charming house was a typical New England nautical, vintage house in the beautiful neighborhood of Neptune Park. The location was perfect. The host was an excellent communicator and very helpful. The house is well stocked. We plan to return next year.

Perfect vacation

The house is a 4 minute walk to a private sand beach, unless you meet up with a neighbor and then it could take an hour! Very friendly place. House Clean. Efficient. Wonderful art. Kitchen has everything you’d want. Skewers for kabob? Yep. Japanese tea set? Yep. Don’t bother to bring beach chairs: there are enough in the downstairs room with the shower. Really. Don’t bother to bring anything but your bathing suit, floatie toys and sandals. There are interesting books, including local history. There was only one thing we didn’t like. All the noisy landscaping machines. Very loud. But we are overly sensitive to loud machines. When we saw them coming we’d take the dog for a walk. Oh, the neighborhood is very dog friendly. The house has a homey vibe and we could have stayed months….

The house is lovely, just as pictured. We all loved staying there. The beach was quiet and clean. We spent the rest of the time relaxing on porch with gorgeous views. The street was quiet enough for my son to practice his newly acquired skateboarding hobby 😊 The neighborhood people we very friendly. The host Brian was gracious and attentive. The private beaches are perfect

We really enjoyed our stay in this very well equipped property. Everything right down to beach chairs was there for us. The property was incredibly clean, more than I've seen at other VRBO's and was thoughtfully furnished. A couple of highlights-- A huge porch to sit and enjoy with friends. A private outside shower accessible directly from the outside for rinsing off after the beach. Two separate living room spaces-- one on the first that's great for socializing, another upstairs that's cozy and great for watching movies, etc. Both a breakfast nook and a dining room. The neighborhood was quiet and felt very safe. The house feels much much larger than one would expect from the description. We'd definitely stay here again.

Lovely Home-Quiet Neighborhood

From the very beginning, our host Brian was super quick with answering any questions I had. The photos are accurate based on the current condition of the house which is excellent. Brian thought of everything. If you needed something all you had to do was look around and he probably has it. I spent the week with friends and family, and everyone agreed that we would like to return to 19 Mott Ave.

Perfect New England Coastal Vacation.

We stayed here for two weeks. The property had everything you could possibly need and it was immaculate..We lived on the front porch which has a harbor view. The beach is right across the street, the water was clean and a raft that you can swim out to.

Beautiful New London beach house

We spent a week at this lovely home. Brian’s communication regarding check in process, etc was helpful and prompt. The house was immaculate, and fully stocked with everything we needed. We appreciated the charming decor and thoughtful touches all around the house, including fresh flowers on the tables. The proximity to the private beach across the street was great! If we are ever in the New London area again, we’d love to come back.

A lovely and special family getaway!

We took our little ones (2 year old and 4 year old) for a family beach vacation over a long weekend, and it was such a memorable and wonderful getaway. The house was charming and clean, and it had everything you needed and more. The location was perfect - the views of the ocean, the proximity to the beach (literally across street from 4 private beaches and a block from ocean beach park), and the friendly and cozy neighborhood/community. In addition to the private beaches, we had access to to the neighborhood seawalk, which was a perfect walk for our dogs. Brian was a wonderful host - amiable, responsive, and helpful with local things to do. We'll certainly be back again!

Perfect weekend!

An early 20th century home with a huge front porch with a view of the water - that is my idea of perfection. The house was a wonderful mix of old and new. The owner was very responsive to my advance questions. I just wish we were able to stay longer.

Beautiful, eclectic beach cottage!

We chose this beautiful place to celebrate our annual girls weekend. Especially enjoyed sipping wine on the large front porch, while appreciating the view of the water. The house is spacious, immaculate and creatively decorated with so many interesting photos, paintings, drawings and fun objects. Views from the bedrooms are equally stunning and the six of us slept comfortably listening to the ocean. We also enjoyed access to the association's private beach - highly recommend for friends and families!

A very nice and clean old New England home

My family and I rented this home for two weeks at the end of August 2017. We all loved the house, the neighborhood, and the private beach, which was across the street. There is also a public beach one block away with mini golf, snack bar, water slides, a restaurant and bar, and rides for the kids. The owner Brian checked in on us before and after the trip via text message and was available if we needed him. My family and I did not want the vacation to end, and we all highly recommend renting this property. The Murray Family.

Great vacation that was close to Home

We had a great family vacation and enjoyed this beautiful house so much! It has everything you need to have a relaxing week by the shore. The well appointed kitchen had everything we needed to cook an serve dinner each night on the classic front porch.. Eventhough we had our own history visiting Ocean Beach Park..We learned so much more during our long morning walks though the beautiful and friendly neighborhoods. Brian was a great host and answered any questions we had . He even left us fresh cut flowers ..It was a simple gesture that made it seem extra special !!

Charming beach house full of character

Spent a wonderful weekend with my family at this house. This is not a characterless rental property but a lovely and personal home. What a charming place. Could have spent the whole time just poring through the books and historic postcards and wonderful art on the walls. The living room is airy and spacious and perfect for a family to hang out in. Then there’s the gorgeous wrap around porch, with comfortable wicker furniture and phenomenal views. It's set high up from the street, so you survey the whole neighborhood but still have privacy. Water views from everywhere. What a treat to wake up in the morning in the bright bedroom, feel the sun shining in and gaze out at Long Island sound. The house was immaculate. Could eat off the floor. Not a fingerprint in the kitchen. Terrific having the private beach literally across the street. It was too cold to swim during our visit, but the seawall makes an ideal place for an after dinner stroll. Went to sleep at night with the sound of waves outside the windows. Beautiful old residential neighborhood and the house is set on a relatively quiet street. What a relaxing stay. Will definitely book again next season.
