In the beautiful village of Atsipopoulo a few kilometres from Rethymno centre, you will meet the traditional guest house 'Villa Elia', in which you will feel the Venetian atmosphere.

The owners have respected the traditional architecture of Crete and have used indigenous materials such as stone and wood. However, they have constructed a very comfortable house, as it is the most important point of holidays.

They await you to experience the Cretan hospitality, tradition and history, as well as pleasurable moments of relaxation and serenity.

Villa Elia is one of the two-twins villas that locate at the center of village Atsipopoulo, which can meet all your first needs. Supermarket, bakery, groceries and butchery shop, cofee shop, restaurants, ATM and pharmacy are all in walking distance (200 metres from the entrance of the villas). However, as you come in from the entrance of the villas, the whole atmosphere changes, as our villas locate inside the nature in a peaceful and ideal for relaxing enviroment. The center of Rethymno is also 5 kilometres away and 10 minutes drive.

Villa Elia is concstructed in maisonette style, measures 150 m2 and has a private swimming pool and balcony. Moreover, it can host 8 persons in 4 bedrooms. Two of them have a double bed and the rest two have two single beds each.

On the ground floor you will find the living area with a fireplace, a full-equipped kitchen and a dining area. It also includes the first two bedrooms, one bathroom and a lavatory.

The top floor consists of two bedrooms, a bathroom, a lavatory and a balcony with a view of the traditional village nearby and the nature. All the rooms are air-conditioned.

The villa is equipped with Satellite television, DVD player, CD Player and radio, Coffee machinet, Microwave, Toaster, Dishwasher, Clothes washer, Deposit box, Hair-dryer and Baby cot.

The exterior of the villa includes a 27 private swimming pool, a dining table and seats for all the 8 persons, as well as 8 sunbeds in order you can enjoy the cretan sun. The swimming pool of the villa can also be heated with an extra cost of 40 euros per day (upon request at least 7 days before arrival and valid only for the whole booking) In addition, each villa has its own barbeque facilities for your personal use.

The location of the villas are ideal for exploring our whole island. Located in the center of the north part of Crete, only 3 kilometres from the highway provides easy access from the local airports (Heraklion and Chania) and the opportunity to visit from the big cities of the island to the smallest beaches in both north and south part of Crete.

Guests will have access and full privacy to all areas indoor and outdoor!

We will wait for you in the villa for your arrival (despite the time, even after midnight) in order to help you with the house details and give you as much informations as you want about the area, taverns, shops, places and beaches that you have to visit!
Also we will clean the villa and change towels and linen every 3 days!
Finally we will be there for your departure for our last thank you!
We will be also reachable on our cell phone and e-mails 24/7!
Our home locates only 1 kilometer from the villa, so we will be able to come in a few minutes at the villa for anything that you will need.

Fantastic holiday

Villa Elia and Rogida were the perfect place for our family holiday . There were 16 adults , ranging from teenagers to over eighty years young, and a baby. We all loved the cleanliness of the villas, the great beds by the pools and the local amenities all within walking distance. George was extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely love to return and recommend the villas.

A wonderful stay!

We’ve just got back from a fabulous stay! We’re a family of five and the villa was perfect for us. Extremely clean and beautifully presented. There are lots of handy shops and cafes within the village but we drove to the main town every evening for a choice of more restaurants and bars or for the beach during the day. George was the perfect host. Always answered messages promptly and was around every day to clean the pool or offer local recommendations. We received many culinary treats from his mother, which was a very special touch. Thank you George!

Wonderful stay

We were close to Rethymno to get the bus, the local village had plenty of restaurant and supermarket options and it was a really peaceful place. Magnificent!

We stayed here in July/August 2023 broadly as a result of the glowing reviews on this site and found it exceeded our expectations. There are three villas on the site in a private settlement in the lovely authentic village of Atsipopoulo. George is an exceptional host and takes great pride in the accommodation and making your holiday the best it can be. His communication is always friendly and swift and is always on hand to make recommendations for meals or excursions. His knowledge of the island is excellent. The villa was exceptionally clean, well equipped and very comfortable with plenty of room for both inside and outside space. I believe the villas were constructed in the early 2000s and are beautifully designed. You can tell that a good deal of thought has been placed into their appearance. The pool was a wonderful place to spend a day and cool off from the heat of the summer. The villas are located in the heart of the village, with plenty of local supermarkets, bars and a great bakery just a few minutes walk. There are several tavernas also worth a visit within walking distance. Further afield, the town of Rethymnon can be reached by bus, taxi or a 10 minute drive with its pretty old harbour and Venetian fort. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this villa to anyone looking for a Luxurious villa in a peaceful, relaxing setting.

I booked this villa for my partner and our 7 months old baby. We had both sets of grandparents visit at points as well but at no point did we feel like we needed more space. From the minute you arrive at the villa you are greeted by George and his lovely family. They are all so accommodating and will literally do anything to make your holiday as perfect as possible. Because it is a family run business there is always someone on hand to help and this makes the whole experience a little more special. The villa is beautiful and has everything you would need. We are already talking about going back next year and we can't wait!

Lovely family holiday

We cannot thank George and his family enough for the most lovely family holiday. The villa was beautiful and kept clean. Communication between us and George was perfect and he could not do enough including arranging transfers and excursions for us. The village is lovely and mostly peaceful. We had two lovely meals at the restaurant just up the road on the same side of the villa and service was excellent and fun. Thank you so much for making our holiday everything we wanted and more.

George and his family treated us like friends rather than paying guests, always available for any assistance we needed. They really did illustrate the famous Crete hospitality. Wonderful 2 weeks at Villa Elia

We have just returned home from Villa Elia which is exactly how the pictures show it. It had everything we needed and more. George and his family are wonderful hosts, nothing was too much trouble. He was just a quick phone call away if needed but never intrusive. Mum left us a lovely dessert in the fridge which was a big hit. A car is needed if you want to explore further afield and George arranged this for us with one quick phone call. Taxi to Rethymnon costs about 10 Euros and we ventured onto the bus one day. There is a timetable but .......... My little granddaughter loved the swimming pool and is now part fish . I highly recommend the villas if want to holiday in the area

Absolutely perfect in every way !

This beautiful villa in the old village if Atsipopoulo was perfect for us (4 ladies in our early 60’s celebrating a lifelong friendship) Through the private entrance there are 3 villas, each with its’ own private pool and grounds , ours was Villa Elia... We arrived in the early hours of the morning to be welcomed by George (with raki and a Cretan cheese pie which his mama, Maria, had made) We fell into the very comfortable beds which all have beautiful, high quality cotton bed linen. As this villa sleeps 8 we were able to have a double room each. The open plan ground floor comprises the kitchen/dining/ lounge areas, all extremely well equipped, spotlessly clean and tastefully yet comfortably furnished. Cleaning and fresh bed linen and towels was done mid week too. AC in every room – which was great as the temperatures were between 28 and 31 degrees every day! We spent most of our waking hours outside – in the shaded dining area, pool, sun loungers and barbeque(which we did use – no problem at all) The fragrant plants around the pool added to our pleasure and privacy too. Our time together is precious and Villa Elia was just the perfect place to relax and be in each other’s company. We were also adopted by a gorgeous cat who seemed to own the villa – we loved her and fed her for the week but she didn’t seem at all bothered when we left! George and his family were so helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Maria also made us a cake mid week, invited us to her studio where she makes jewellery and gave us all a gift before we left. When one of our group left their phone in a shop in Rethymno, George’s sister drove them down and helped locate it. Above and beyond! Such lovely people. Can’t recommend this villa enough – thank you George, Maria and the girls. Tips:- There is a bus stop on the left outside the villa for Rethymno (about 10mins) – the tickets can be bought at the supermarket (to the right of the villa entrance). Take time to wander around the back streets of Atsipopoulo if you can – it’s a beautiful old village – lots of photo opportunities. There are 3 very traditional restaurants in the village serving authentic Cretan food and the menus are not extensive but if you give a days notice they will get fish from the port or even cook a vegetarian dish for you (although they will worry about your health!) There is a souvlaki take-away and a pizza place too.

This is by far the best run villa we have ever stayed in

George and his family really care about you, your holiday and their villa. Nothing is too much trouble. Maria ( Georges Mum) sent in home made treats during the stay which is a lovely touch. There was nothing during our 3 week stay that I can say was even slightly wrong. The Villa is perfectly situated for popping to the bakers or supermarket and local tavernas or sightseeing as the village is 5 minutes from the main road Which takes you everywhere on Crete. Rethymno with its amazing old town and beaches is 10 minutes by car. We drove down some nights and got a €10 taxi back . We also caught the local bus (just outside the villa gates) into Rethymno. I cant rate this Villa highly enough.

Lovely villa for family holiday

We had a great time at Villa Elias which was ideal for two families with children. The house is recently built to a very high standard with traditional materials, solid wood doors, shutters and charming and practical features. It is very well equipped and comfortable and our children loved the pool, even though it was a bit cold at the start of April! George and his family were lovely, he couldn't have done more to help offering assistance with taxis or care hire. They made us feel really welcome, and we were touched when he brought traditional food to share celebrating Easter with his family. George was immediately on hand if we needed anything. The village of Atsipopoulo is small and out of season only one of the tavernas was open, but with superb local food. There are many cafes and the bakery next door and supermarket 100 yards away met all our needs. It is very small but extremely picturesque and we enjoyed walking through the narrow lanes until you reach olive groves and farmland. There is a regular bus to Rethymno from outside the villa and the timetable was helpfully provided, it's a very short bus ride to Rethymno. This was our first time in Crete and we would definitely come again, thank you George and family for hosting us!

Great villa in a good location owned by a really lovely family.

The villa is very attractive and well presented it has good facilities and is in a nice village which has everything you need. The owners are lovely and nothing is to much trouble. The village is in a good location to visit most of the key places in Crete and Rethmno is a great place to visit day and night. If I had to pick anything that could be improved I would have liked a shower cubicle in one of the bathrooms but George is building a new villa which will be finished in the spring and this will have en-suite bathrooms and looks like it will be even better than the other 2 villas which are excellent themselves. We had a really great holiday and it felt like home away from home which is exactly what we wanted. Thanks George and family for making our visit to Crete so special.

It couldn't be better

What shall I say ... the perfect holiday. What you see is what you get - the pictures of this fantastic villa that are provided are exactly what you will get in reality. The villa provides you with everything you need. The kitchen is fully equipped and all the rooms are clean and wonderfully decorated by the owner. Staying three or more nights the room service is included and will receive fresh towels as well as a whole cleaning of your accommodation. The pool is carefully looked for several times a week and is so wonderful. Due to being your private pool no one else will has to be cared for and no one has a look into your private pool. The water quality is AAA+ and due to the size of the pool adults can have a great swim there. One of the best things is the opportunity that you can order either your breakfast or the evening dinner. Both is freshly cooked by the owner and believe me: the meals are such fantastic and tasty that we will take this opportunity many times. Thanks for Maria cooking us such wonderful and delicious meals. We love your cooking. Further, the hosts of Georgios and Maria are offering an unbelievable private and friendly atmosphere, no wish is too difficult to be realized and the friendship is unique. They are doing everything to make your stay a complete holiday experience. Thank you as well as Catherine and Magda. Within the closer surrounding you can find very good restaurants, a great bakery and a supermarket. A car is not needed due to having everything in walking distance (about 150 meters). Rethymnon is just a few minutes by car and is a great city with lots of stores and lots of history. You can spend days to experience the friendly flair of this city and get in touch with the fantastically kind inhabitants of this island. Children are extremely welcomed. The Harbour and the beaches around Rethymnon are fine sanded and fantastic for relaxing or for children. About two and a half hours by car you can reach the carribian like beaches of Elafonissi. A must see beach. Our stay lasts twelve days are we will be really sad when we will have to leave. A 100% thumbs up for the villa myrtia. One thing is for sure: we will be back. If you are looking for a perfect holiday - stop searching, you found what you were looking for.

Perfect host, setting and amenities

George and his family served as ideal hosts. Beginning from the time of our first questions prior to booking through to the end of our stay, we were given prompt and helpful assistance. The property is set in a small village that has good services - a few restaurants, shops, bakery and places for coffee. The beautiful city of Rethymno is nearby and the location also allowed us to explore many places other parts of the island easily. The villa has high quality and comfortable furnishings, making it very comfortable to sleep and relax during the day. The layout is spacious with practical space both indoor and outdoor. Everything was as described in the profile. However, our family all felt that as impressive as the villa was (we have stayed in many short term rentals in the past years and this was our best!!) the strongest aspect was in fact the hospitality. George and his family met us with warmth, kindness and a genuine concern that our stay was as enjoyable as possible. We are happy to say that we were very pleased on all levels with the choice to stay at the villa and would highly recommended it to anyone considering a vacation to Crete. Fabulous Summer Holiday

We booked Villa Elia months in advance and so when the long wait was over we certainly weren't disappointed. The property was easy to find from the airport and we received a warm welcome from George and his mother. In fact over the two week holiday (and in the run up to the break) they couldn't have been more helpful. The property is conveniently located centrally in the village with everything you need on the doorstep, from a bakery to a coffee shop and takeaways to supermarkets, all walking distance. The villa is immaculate and offers all the facilities you could want to ensure a successful and relaxing break and is geared for adults and children. The villa is only a few miles from the sea and the picturesque town of Rythmeno, which offers good restaurants, although I would use the beaches out of town, where you don't have to pay for the sunbeds, which can be costly when there are eight of you. We had a wonderful holiday and would thoroughly recommend the villa to those thinking of holidaying in Crete. Thank you George for looking after us. MacNaughton/Harris

Amazing stay

We stayed at Villa Ellia in the height of the season, as a family of 4. Having never been to Crete we were eager to have a good base and chose a villa rather than staying in a hotel. Villa Ellia was amazing, George and his family incredibly hospitable and helpful and the village of Atsipopoulo just great. The villa is beautiful, the pool a good size, not one of those small pools you cannot really swim in, the apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. If there was one change it would be better WiFi, but we were on holiday so it wasn't a big deal and not a fault of George and the villa. When we come back to Crete we will be looking to stay again.

We saved the best for last!

After touring Athens, we arrived in Crete and stayed in the villa. Upon arrival George made us feel like family! The villa exceeded our expectations and was even better than the pictures. Having a private pool also made for a great way to start and end each day. George was very helpful in arranging a car rental from the airport and helping us plan our day trips including a trip to Santorini. I would strongly recommend this villa for an authentic Greek vacation and can't wait to return to villa Elia.

Perfect!!!

Had such an amazing time at George's villa. It's just 10 minutes down the road from the old town in Rethymno. Really easy to get too in a taxi. And to be honest it's in a really cute village, it's 2 min walk to the main square where there's a lovely restaurant. Couldn't have asked for anymore, best BBQ ever. Lovely patio, great pool, will definitely be back. And George and his family were so welcoming, we had a traditional drink on arrival :)

LOVELY VILLA WITH THE WOW FACTOR

My husband and I stayed at Villa Elia in late April/early May'16 for 2 weeks. It is a really special villa, beautifully furnished and built to exacting standards. The village of Atsipopolou, where the villa sits, is a really nice village, with most things on your doorstep, chemist, ATM, bakers, supermarket and the village also has 3 restaurants. The villa itself has been well designed, especially for 2 families with children, as the ground and top floors both have a double-bedded room and a twin-bedded room, each floor sharing a bathroom. I would describe it as a perfect place to chill and unwind. In essence, no expense has been spared in making this property something really special. The Greek family, who own and manage the villa, and live locally, are excellent hosts and will try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They really care about their guests and will do their utmost to help you in any way they can. Thank you George, Magda and Mary, for making our holiday unforgettable.

Very Nice and quiet place

Very near of Rethymnon , this villa is wonderfull to discover west Crete . WE went with two couples of friends and spent one week in an authentic cretan village . We were welcomed by George and all the family was so lovely . Spécial thanks for George ´ s mother for the délicious cake we found in the fridge . Thanks a lot George for your kindness . A PERFECT SCORE

Our stay at Villa Elia was perfect in every respect. First of all, the owners, Maria and her son George, were excessively warm and welcoming. They went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. As an example, they went as far as arranging our car rental in Crete! The villa is a gem: it is beautiful, spacious, comfortable and fully equipped. In addition, within a few hundred meters from the villa, one can find all required businesses : supermarket, bakery, ATM, without forgetting some excellent «tavernas»! Furthermore, because of its central location, Villa Elia is an ideal base to explore and visit the whole Island of Crete. In summary and in conclusion, I recommend without any reservation, Villa Elia to anyone who plans to take a vacation on the Island of Crete. Pierre L

Villa was wonderful extreamly well kept all you need George and family were lovely helped with anything we weren't sure off . before and after our holiday Locals were so friendly . you need to wslk around the village so much too see . easy access to town. Bus or taxi . kyra beech. Stunning taverna very nice , And george brought us a lovely gift when we left . if were ever to recommend this would be it thank you george from the abbey family xx
