Spring Break

My friends and I stayed here for spring break and it was just as described. There were ample towels for everyone and 5 beach chairs. The pool was large however the area up top is not a hot tub it is just a jacuzzi. The views were excellent and the house was clean. Good communication they were very responsive.

Awesome Views

Our stay was great! The location is awesome, we were close to El Yunque and Luquillo beach, and tons of great local spots for food and drinks. We had 4 adults couples, and we knew the property had bunk beds but most of the couples ended up sleeping in separate beds due to the size. The beds were fine but weren’t super comfortable, and the blankets weren’t very substantial. The bedrooms are also all right next to each other in a tight hallway so it doesn’t necessarily feel super private. The common area was perfect for evening drinks and conversations - the hammocks were great for relaxing. We loved listening to the Coqui at night. We visited in January so we didn’t have much of a need for the pool but it was very clean and well kept. The views definitely were the best part - so lovely!

Great spot for visiting with family and great access to the sights

This was a great spot with so much to do close by - Carabali, El Yunque, Fajardo, Playa Luquillo, Playa Azul and much more. It is also easy to get to San Juan to visit all the amazing sights and take a ferry or flight from Ceiba to Vieques. The kitchens are well stocked for cooking for the family throughout our week stay. The outdoor charcoal grill was helpful just keep in mind no oven, not too bad other than we wanted to cook a Thanksgiving turkey. Pool table, hammocks, pool, and plenty of outdoor seating for family game night too.

Lovely views, plenty of space, close to sights

Absolutely gorgeous house perfect for our group of 10 (three generations, ages 6 to 76). The downstairs especially had room to spread out. Hammocks, porches, fun pool, short drive to beaches, less than 30 mins to east coast (we did bio-lagoon and snorkeling/boat to Icacos) and El Yunque (we did a muddy hike/climb to the water slide, cliff jumps). I loved this house, would return. Minor grievances not dealbreakers: had to buy our own beach towels, no dish drainer so we piled them to dry, some toilets had weak flush. And the upfront fees (cleaning, etc) were pretty hefty; we paid nearly 1,000 in fees alone for five nights.

Almost hate to say this but….Another amazing stay!

This was our second time here and it remains our favorite place to stay on the island. The home is beautiful, amazing views from every angle, you can sleep an army here and there are plenty of bathrooms for all. It’s a great location if you are just doing some of the adventure park activities right down the hill, or hitting anything on the east coast. Or just hang out in the pool or hammocks swinging around. I say “I hate to say this” because I don’t want you to take my week!

Another great stay

We stayed here last year for spring break and liked it so much that we came back. The location is ideal - 30 minutes to/from airport, 5 minutes to Luquillo beach and its awesome kiosks, 30 minutes to Fajardo and its charter cruises, 45 minutes to Old San Juan, 15 minutes to El Yunque. House is nestled away and peaceful. Cooking/eating outside is great. Awesome sunsets.

Beautiful views and peaceful

The property and the location are awesome. The house was clean and easy to get to. Just a little minor things that were wrong. Hector and Carmen were on it. I would stay here again because of the location. I went to celebrate my 60th birthday with my friends and my brother and we all enjoyed this place. Thank you for renting to us. I will recommend this place. Sincerely Jose

Ideal vacation property!

We loved our stay!!! The views were spectacular from all directions! It was great to have air-conditioned bedrooms to sleep in but we lived outside the rest of the time! There is nothing like preparing all your meals in an outdoor kitchen! The home is within close driving distance of all activities in the area. Highly recommend this property!

Very cool house

Very good location- short drive to Luquillo beach! You can use amenities at Hacienda Carabali (go cart, bar/restaurant, ATV rental, horse rental) just a short walk away. I love horses, so it was great to see all of them and the stables in the neighborhood. I wish we would have stayed here longer!

Beautiful and Private Location

We had a wonderful time at this property. We were a group consisting of 2 families with teens. The outdoor space was amazing — we thoroughly enjoyed hanging out there in our “downtime” and even cooked dinner in the fabulous outdoor kitchen. The views and surroundings can’t be beat. We also enjoyed the proximity to Carabali, as we walked to dinner there twice during our one week stay. The roosters, coqui, horses, dog visitors and nearby donkey made our trip even more memorable!

Relaxing home base to explore Puerto Rico!

We visited this property for our first visit to Puerto Rico and found it to be an excellent home away from home. The secluded location was close to the Rain Forest, Luquillo Beach, an easy to access all that Fajardo and San jUan have to offer as well. The house itself was just as advertised, with comfortable furniture, great electronics, and fully stocked to cook and eat for any meal. Hector was responsive whenever we had a question.

Best vacation home ever!!!!!

This home is the best home I've ever stayed. Very clean, big, comfortable, beautiful and well kept. There is everything you need to have a pleasant and comfortable vacation. I really didn't want to leave this house and I'm going to rent it again when I come back to PR. The owner of the house came the same night of the check in to see if we were all set or if we had any questions about anything. Love love loved the house and would recommend it to everyone. Rent this house with your eyes closed.

Great location

If the location and the amazing view wasn’t fabulous, I would not have been super impressed with this property. The beds were not comfortable, the pillows were so flat. The outdoor space was a saving grace as the inside is tight for a larger group. The seating out door was not comfortable either, I felt like for a space meant for hanging out, it would be more comfortable. Small things that made the stay not as enjoyable especially with a large group. Overall not a bad experience, however I have stayed in enough places to notice the differences with comparable prices.

Wonderful Family Get Away House

This house in the Hacienda Carabali which is gated and secured was the perfect selection to my family vacation. Heated Jacuzzi & Pool, Pool Table, Washer/Dryer Music w/surround sound, TV w/ cable, free Wi-Fi, Two Bathrooms, Hammock, Coconut Tree, Mango Tree, Green Plantain tree, Quiet location, Comfy beds, Close to El Yunque, Luquillo Beach, Kiosko(food, bar and shops area) My whole entire family young and old loved this house. We actually consider in buying it LOL. I have only one complaint... Vacations was too short. : ) Thank you Hector (owner) for allowing us to enjoy this spacious and beautiful home. Spacious, quiet property with great potential

This property has many bonuses: spacious (especially the lower, open level), stunning views, pool table, comfortable air conditioning, very private, lots of cozy hammocks, and convenient location to Luquillo beaches and El Yungue Rainforest. If more attention were given to its upkeep, it would be a stellar property. The drawbacks: The swimming pool/hot tub was unheated and not clean (the floor and sides of the pool needed to be vacuumed), only one bathroom had a hot shower (the other two were cool), may lightbulbs needed replacing, there was significant water leakage to the lower level anytime someone showered. The biggest downside was that the directions to the place were wrong and very confusing. The owner should replace the unclear directions with a single pin drop. If the items above were rectified, it would be a FABULOUS place to stay!

Overall great place with a couple hiccups

This is a great rental. The highlight is the outdoor area that can be used both rain or shine because the majority is covered. The pool is often in the shade, so great for when you want a dip but need to take a break from the sun. The beach chairs and boogie board was an awesome thing to have! It’s five-10 minutes to the beaches of Luquillo and 10-15 to El Yunque rain forest. Also super close to Las Plaices natural water slide area. The only major issues we had were the following and would be easy things for the property management to address. The code we were given to get into the gate to the neighborhood did not work. We got lucky and followed someone in. That’s kind of a big one. A couple minor things: the description states that the place has beach towels and it does not, or we would have brought some with us. The knives at the place are so dull that they really pose a risk to guests trying to use them. My husband is an avid cook and cut himself pretty good. Sharp knives for a safety win next time please! :) Other than that it was fantastic. Everything you need for a great family vacay and close to so many incredible sights. We left a piece of our heart in Puerto Rico and will most DEFINITELY be back!

Perfect Vacation home for our family

This house was perfect for our family vacation. We spent 9 lovely days here. It was a total of 5 people. Our 3 year old grandson felt so at home. Played everywhere and loved the pool. Carmen was very responsive when I contacted her to ask if they can send someone to clean the pool. The pool person came to take care of it within 10 mins. Since the pool is closed to the trees. It gets leaves in it. We never had an issue with anything. All the amenities were just perfect for our needs. We enjoyed the bottom floor for evening dinners. We used the grill to cook dinner most of the time. We found everything we needed. Beds were comfortable, AC worked well, showers were very cleaned with nice warm water. There are many places that you could go eat near by. Supermarkets, beaches, Jaz clubs, the river. We also went to ride horses at the Carabali Hacienda. That was a wonderful expeirnce. Our grandson rode a horse by himself and loved it. The neighborhood was very safe. The neighbors were very friendly. We loved the sorroundings at night and in the morning. You will love the donkey (we named it Henry). Roosters waking you up, all sort of birds singing and of course at night you will hear the lovely coqui signing. This is a house that I would definitely stay in again. Overall experience in PR and this house was phenomenal.

We did not want to leave!

The property was lovely and just what we expected. As other reviews mentioned, finding the house the 1st time was a little tricky but not terrible. The gate referenced in the directions no longer has a horse on it so do not let that throw you off. The house was well equipped, the bedrooms were perfect for what we needed (we were 7 adults), the A/C worked great and each room had it's own unit. We spent most of our time in the open air kitchen/living area with pool table. We could not get the fans down there to work but there was always a breeze so it did not really matter. There is tons of sitting areas throughout the property. ....sun, shade, pool-side, views of mountains, sit with the group or take sometime by yourself in a hammock. There was no shortage of space it was all there and you just had to pick your seat. The pool was also nicer than we expected. We eat at the Carabali Rainforest Bar and Restaurant a couple times and it was very good and just a short walk from the home. We also went on a horse ride which we would recommend. It would have be nice to have an additional gate opener because sometime our group wanted to split up but we had to plan around someone being able to open the gate to the neighborhood. We always figured it out but it did take extra planning, so having 2 would have been nice. After our week in this home we did not want to leave. We hope to be lucky enough to come back and stay here again someday. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

A good stay

Overall our family of 5 really liked this property. The location was terrific for what we wanted to do - visit Old San Juan, El Yunque, and beaches. Close to lots of food (kiosks and restaurants) and groceries. Pros: Location! Great outdoor space - fun to cook/eat outside and we enjoyed the pool table. The hammocks were a big hit too. And the views were excellent. Felt very safe. Air conditioning worked great, washer/dryer really helpful, plenty of bathrooms. Cons: These were mostly little and weren't "major issues," but they added up: No beach towels as advertised. We had to buy our own, which was a bummer. Cleaning could have been better. There were two melted cough drops (I think) on our bedroom floor. Many of the fans/lights didn't work or didn't have remotes (including the one in the main living room). TV instructions were totally different from what actually had to be done to get it to work (didn't really matter but was annoying). No dishwasher (we knew going in but it was more annoying than we expected it to be - would be rough for bigger groups). Pool not heated (again, we knew going in, but it was surprisingly cold). Waste pipes leaked onto the lower outdoor level whenever someone took a shower. Contacted the owner through the VRBO app and via text about the towels and lights in case we were missing something obvious, but never heard back. Didn't want to call because they weren't emergencies. Based on the price that we paid, I would have expected the little things to be taken care of. Since we knew about the lack of dishwasher and heated pool going in, I did not hold that against the property (but put it in the review to point out to others).

You're paying for what's outside....

...gated community, beautiful views & pool, conveniet local, semi-updated inside, & out. This home could be great with updates, cleaner finishes on their DIY projects, & a guide to navigate it's quirks! My Husband, our 4 kids (2, 6, 10, 13), & I arrived in the evening. We used the written directions, & not the HomeAway GPS location. The house is fenced in, & has a gate with a chain, at the edge of the driveway. The front door was hard to open all the way. The home was hot when we arrived, & has no screens in the living area, but it has 4 AC units. The lighting inside is dim. The home has lots of storage, kitchen supplies, beach toys, & love the hammocks! We headed to the pool night 1. The pool lights were on, but the problem was finding the other lights outside. Countless amounts of light switches all around, a lot of which went to nothing. Labels are an easy fix. On our 1st night, between 10-11pm, we found out our neighbors had a very loud donkey. His fav times of day to "talk" 10-11pm, 5-7am. 6-8am: roosters, dogs, construction, ATV'S, neighborhood landscapers & firecrackers. The morning of day 2, we were shocked to see men walking around the property. They were pool guys & we inconvienced our day until they left. When we came back home, our gate was open! Nothing was missing, but it's alarming. We discovered a window that had slid down it's broken frame, leaving a 2 inch gap. We covered it with a plastic bag & informed the manager about our day 1 troubles, who apolgized. No one came to fix the window, which could easily fall out. There's no video game system as advertised. No screens in living area. Not enough couch seating, so we used the sofa bed for movie night & it's broken! There's no support at one end. It took force & finesse to close it. Judging by the condition, this was the tactic everyone used. There's no oven, but the large Grill has one. When we saw it's broken knobs, we left it alone. The master bed is too springy, my husband's movements woke me up. But the matress is comfortable. The bathrooms have nice finishes, but the tub has a huge area of repair tape on the wall, & another big hole left uncovered. The bathroom, has gaps between the floor boards. You can see the 1st floor. The shower head is too low, & hot water takes a while. The faucets spit water on you when turned on all the way. Mold & mildew in the tubs & patio furniture, gross! There's litter on the property, & cigarette butts around the stairs. Gross!
