My partner and I have been living onsite and hosting guests since mid July 2012 and welcome you to relax and unwind in our multi-award winning solar passive accommodation, designed by us to maintain a comfortable temperature all year round. Set amidst the magnificent views afforded by the rolling North Harcourt hills and located centrally to Bendigo and Castlemaine, your self-contained, private accommodation adjoining our home, that affords you the luxury of pillow topped beds with quality linens in two generous sized carpeted rooms with lovely garden views. Facilities include well-equipped kitchenette, luxury bathroom with spa bath, cosy log fire, solar heated pool & BBQ facilities all taking advantage of an ever-changing rural outlook.

Ideally suited to groups of friends, couples and families seeking all that’s on offer in this wonderful part of Central Victoria or for some pure relaxation . . . as long as you don’t mind the passing parade of native wildlife!

Prepare breakfast at your leisure, from a hamper of organic provisions sourced locally. We look forward to welcoming you to this magnificent part of Victoria.

Featuring:

Your boutique self-contained accommodation includes 2 spacious bedrooms, luxury bathroom with spa bath, kitchenette and lounge room with cosy wood heater. Ceiling fans provide additional cooling in summer and winter sun, along with slow combustion heating backed onto a rammed earth wall, provide ample heating in winter months.

Guests have access to an 8m pool to relax in and around with BBQ cooking facilities and outdoor seating. The region is abundant with wineries, cideries, bushwalking tracks, cycling ventures, galleries, historic towns, restaurants, cafes and sporting facilities.

Prepare breakfast at your leisure, from a selection of organic provisions sourced from our orchard and gourmet local produce.

Facilities STRICTLY for use of paying guests only.

Children under 2 using own bedding free. Children 3-12 are $20 per person per night and 13+ are considered adult price.
Requesting the use of an additional room for 2 guests attracts a once off cleaning fee of $30.

Booking and check in process was very easy. It was a long drive so was nice to find the essentials for a coffee/cup of tea available. Breakfast for the next morning was taken care of too. Gorgeous pool. We we're made to feel very welcome. Outstanding view. Hosts were very welcoming and Milo the dog was very friendly and played with the kids around the pool both evenings.

The apartment is super spacious, very well furnished and equipped, the decor modern and unique, the focus on sustainability clearly visible. The breakfast goodies in the fridge ensure a healthy and delicious start of the day. The big pool with views of the surrounding hills (and kangaroos) is a bonus. The wonderful hosts and Milo, their friendly dog, make you feel welcome right from the start.

Wedding anniversary weekend

A beautifully presented guesthouse and property. We were impressed with the detail of the building and its eco-friendly and energy efficient structure. Cleanliness was outstanding and everything that we needed was provided, including tasty homemade ingredients for breakfasts. The surrounding property was secluded and peaceful though near enough for trips to Castlemaine, Bendigo and Maldon. The hosts were friendly and attentive to our comfort and their dog kept us amused in the pool! A very memorable weekend that we hope to return to in the future and would recommend to all.

Beautiful property

Stunning views, lovely house. Very refreshing to stay somewhere, where the owners were environmentally aware. The house was very well appointed, but the kitchen was a little too small to accommodate our family of 5. As an introvert with social anxiety, i found it challenging that the owners were very present, they were lovely however and extremely helpful. The teens enjoyed Milo the very talented Kelpie for ball games! Highly recommend the Chocolate Lily for families.

Our Stay at The Chocolate Lily

A fantastic, restful, long weekend was something that the whole family needed so badly. The rammed earth main wall and Terrazzo concrete slab throughout the house, combined with clever Solar Passive design, meant that for the length of our stay we did not need to heat or cool the house even once. The kids loved the solar-heated pool, and the resident soccer playing Kelpie Milo kept them amused with her exemplary ball control and heading skills! Virginia and Peter have a lovely property, and some great sustainable living ideas can be seen throughout. Sensational views are at your doorstep, and a short drive takes you to nearby towns such as Castlemaine, Bendigo, and Maldon. Five stars ***** and highly recommended! Gary, Michelle, and Family The homegrown produce, and homemade food that was supplied for our family's breakfasts was excellent.
