Summer stay at Pinantan Lake

We (family of four from the UK) enjoyed a wonderful 5-night summer stay at Pinantan Lake. The log cabin is truly amazing and the location- nestled into the hillside and overlooking the lake- is truly magnificent. Communication with Jamie and Camille was excellent and they were available to assist before and during our stay. It wasn’t a problem for us, but as earlier reviews have mentioned, the steps to the lake from the cabin are steep and numerous. Also, at the time of our stay, there were no bikes and the BBQ ignition switch did not work. Overall, would highly recommend.

Spacious cabin in lovely location!

Stayed here with my grown up family for 4 nights and had a lovely time. The cabin is large with plenty of room for all 5 of us. The view from the front windows and the deck is amazing! Access to the lake is very steep and involves crossing the road, it is not as close as it appears in the listing photos! Having said that, we all (including my 77 year old mother in law) managed the steps and slopes OK. The lake is very peaceful and we enjoyed using the kayaks and the canoe. The table and seating area at the lake was overgrown and not really usable, but we were able to sit on the floating dock. The weather during our stay was mixed, but the heat pump in the cabin kept us cool or warm as required. The kitchen is well equipped and has modern appliances. Vehicle access is via a long gravelled track that includes some steep bits. We had a 4wd car so it was no problem, but I would think a 2wd vehicle could struggle to get there if the track was very wet or icy. Overall a fantastic place for a peaceful getaway! The host responded quickly to our messages and we found the "smart lock" number keypad doors really helpful - no need to worry about who had the key when going out.

Don’t want to leave!!!!

We chose this picturesque cabin for a month long stay as it was well situated to explore BC, from here we ziplined at Whistler, hiked at Joffre Lake, white water rafted at Adams River, segwayed at Roderick Haig, ATV toured at Revelstoke, dined at Sun Peaks, had a paraglide flight at Clearwater, visited the waterfalls at Wells Gray among others! It was always wonderful to drive back and rest up at the cabin ... reading a book in the hammock by the dock, in the hot tub with a glass of wine, gliding the kayaks through the lake, sitting and listening to the Loons on the balcony, simply perfect! It really felt like a home away from home.

Disappointing Stay with Hidden Fees & Poor Communication

1/5 Stars•Hidden Fees: Charged a pet fee and fireplace cleaning fee after our stay, neither of which were disclosed in the listing or house rules. Also indicated that we did not do the dishes which we in fact did and have photo evidence of such.•Poor Communication: Host was unprofessional and made us feel unwelcome throughout the stay.•Unannounced Visit: Host showed up at the property without notice while we were working. They contacted us after their visit while we weren’t on site.•Outdoor Surveillance Camera: Invasive and not disclosed upfront. Pointed at the hot tub of all places.•Inadequate Firewood: No kindling or hatchet provided, making it difficult to use the fireplace. Not enough wood for our stay.•Water Quality Issue: Strong sulfur smell due to lack of filtration, not mentioned in the listing. Lingered throughout the day.•Misleading Pet Policy: Listing states dogs are allowed but does not mention extra charges.Would not recommend. Future guests should request written confirmation of all policies and fees before booking. I will be submitting a formal complaint to VRBO.

Amazing cabin with an incredible view and trails

Our group of 6 adults loved our time at the cabin, spacious but cosy with an amazing view of Pinantan lake. The property is very private and quiet for a perfect relaxing weekend. The cabin is well laid out with a bonus games room and lots of board games to enjoy. The beds were super comfortable and clean. Bathrooms were spotless, two rooms have ensuites and a third bathroom on the main floor which has a bath only. The kitchen is well equipped with a bonus counter top oven for preparing large meals. The fire place and hot tub add to the experience and create a very relaxing environment. There are also lots of dirt biking trails off the property to enjoy, something that will definitely having us coming back. Jamie & Camille were very responsive hosts and provided a lot of helpful tips. Would highly recommend this place for a family or group. Thank you for an awesome stay.

Loonie reunion

Lots of room for our 60+ age group. Our stay was in the fall so although we didn’t get to enjoy the lake swimming we had beautiful walks around the property and down to the lake. One guest tried his hand at fishing and ventured out in the kayak but alas came back empty handed.

Family Vacation

We loved our stay in Pinantan Lake! The views were beautiful. The place was perfect for our family of six. We utilized the grill, kayaks, hot tub and greatly enjoyed the wrap around deck! The home was very beautiful, and we loved some of the unique decor throughout. While hiking nearby, we crossed paths with a black bear! A little scary at the time, but it certainly is something to talk about now. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Great Cabin Stay!

Overall, I enjoyed staying in the cabin. It’s a beautiful spot overlooking the lake in the most gorgeous cabin I’ve ever been in. The views are spectacular. I knew the lake would be a steep climb down, as I came prepped reading through the reviews. I did not know that there was a road in between that you,d have to cross. It’s not a busy road, but I thought we would have the 24 acres plus private lake access leading me to think we could just walk down there freely with the dogs. There are no pictures of said road or mention of this in the listing. The private lake access is listed with a Picnic table and a dock. We were prepared for these steps to be steep but I did not expect them to be so weedy making it hard to see where you are stepping which is a tad sketchy. The picnic table is grown into the weeds so you are unable to sit at it. The dock and ladder into the lake is broken. So the dock sits sideways slanting in the water and it’s also the only way into the lake because of the mud and weeds, so to get out you really have to haul yourself up onto this ladder because there is only 1 step left. Communication was strange, they mention to text them if you can’t get the ice maker to work, and when we did they gave us the same instructions and chalked it up to being an old fridge. Overall a good stay, just felt mislead regarding the lake situation. I’m sure the host will comment about being realistic as she had to others, but hard to be when the photos on the ad are not.

Excellent Lakeview Cabin

The rental was very clean upon arrival and the description and photos were very accurate. All amenities listed were present and we were very comfortable and relaxed during our stay. The dock needs some minor repairs to the ladder and float barrels, but still usable. The lake is excellent for swimming!

Why they chose this property

Built the property from the ground up, enjoyed the views and looked forward to the recreational activities with friends and family. You can leave straight from the cabin into the mountains, very convenient. I'm a golfer in the summer, and enjoy all the golf courses east and west of the cabin.

What makes this property unique

It's very private - like being in your own little world with no visible neighbours. Private access to lake, 24 acres with multiple trails throughout. Please note access to lake is down a steep hill (not recommended for those with mobility issues).
