Payment taken without permission

We had a great time. However we opted to pay in full on arrival yet half the payment was taken out of my account without permission 1 month before hand. After constant communication between Hotels.com and myself this was not refunded and I incurred international banking fees.

La Thuile family ski weekend (4 Days)

Great location and has direct access to slopes (10 meters away) and gondola (30meters away). Town restaurants 10 mins walk away and a couple of restaurants and takeaway on site. Two ski hire companies 2 mins away. Although rooms are dated, small, they met our needs except you cannot regulate the temperature in the rooms and need a local adaptor for kettle. If you are looking for just room and a bed, these are perfect, dont expect luxury. Underground car parking 10 euro a day and local free bus to Couymayeur to add in another resort to ski in, that your ski pass will cover. Great resort for families learning to ski, friendly staff and locals. Local ski school was great for the kids and we booked a few private lessons. Good selection of easy blues and reds to learn on and a few black runs are tough and steep, if you want to test your ability. Slopes not busy and well looked after. Would recommend La Thuile for long weekend

Great position, dated need to include cleaning

The apartments are superbly positioned for ski in ski out. The hotel is very dated but functional. The only thing that I would see as unacceptable is there is no cleaning or change of towels throughout the week. When I contacted reception they informed me that if I wanted the room cleaned and a change of towels it would cost €20 each time. This is the first hotel that I have stayed at that it is not part of the price.

The apartment was very clean. The apartment was very warm but when it got too hot the radiator valves would not turn the heat down so had to waste heating by opening all windows. No instructions in apartment about how anything worked., eg complicated microwave. One small plastic bag supplied for rubbish and no explanation where to empty it. We asked at reception where to put the rubbish and they said we were too far away from the hotel bins so just put it out anywhere! No mention of recycling waste and that is ridiculous in a high altitude resort that is gathering plastics etc daily. Asked reception to change towels and was told that we weren't due any extra ones for the 5 days we were there. They said we could pay for more so we opted for that. We did not receive any and although asked for them again ... they never materialised. It became evident that the reception was only interested in people who stayed in their hotel rooms and NOT in their apartments. Although we were given directions where to park our car we were not given the pass key so help up quite a few other arrivals while it was sorted out. We would not go back to any of their apartments or recommend them.

It was nicely located near the slopes with easy access to everything and a short walk from the village. The apartments were very dated and there was a lot of noise from other residents.

Always enjoyable

This is our 3rd visit to La Thuile and the accommodation is pretty much as expected for an Italian ski resort with basic self-catering. The Planibel has much bigger apartments than you would get in France, and the food in the resort is brilliant!. We just love coming back here. We visited in the last week of the ski season, where the staff were trying to scale things back. Our 2 room apartment (booked and paid for via Expedia) wasn't available on check in, and we were given a 1 room apt for 1 night until a 2 room was made available. The staff were fabulous - polite, patient and strived to ensure that we were happy. Although we did not get a refund for the first night, we did have 2 days of lunch vouchers provided as compensation, which we could use at the on mountain gondola station restaurant. Although Planibel is basic - 2 ring hob; fridge door didn't quite close; pan options and crockery are a bit hit and miss, and if you like mugs of tea, then take your own mug; sink / shower drains were a bit blocked; bathroom fan didn't work in one of the bathrooms, etc - I would always go back there. We go for the snow-boarding and the food - both of which are excellent at La Thuile.

Great location for ski in ski out

Some of the blocks are more than ready for a refurb. and some of the rooms can be a bit noisy if they are near the Bars etc but this is more than compensated by the convenience of being so close to the lift system

Superb location, close to ski lift and ski hire

Fabulous few days in La Thuile. Weather was very changeable but the snowfall was excellent, providing us with deep powder soft snowy pistes to ski on. The resort was quiet (much quieter than the same time last year).

Planinel residence and la thuile

Residence is located very close to ski area which is a bonus. Rooms were warm and comfortable except for hard pillows. Rooms need a bit of updating. Reception and bar areas very pleasant. Some nice restaurants in the small town. Down the road just passed the gondola station was a great little restaurant. La Thuile is excellent - quiet, no queuing. We were a varied group and there was something for everyone. Some went over to la rosiere but said it was cloudy and very busy so were glad to get back.

Planibel Residence January 2018

Stayed for four nights at the end of January with friends in one of the Planibel Residence Apartments. The hotel and apartments a very conveniently located right next door to the Les Suches Telecabin which takes visitors up to the main ski area of La Thuile. The Hotel and Residences are beginning to look and feel a little dated. The apartment we had was adequate enough. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If I have any criticisms, there are two items would point out. 1. the mattresses on the beds in the apartment we had were not very comfortable, and none of us enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep. I can normally sleep in most places, but all four of us suffered from uncomfortable nights. Those mattresses really need a refresh. 2. WiFi was not included in the Residences, which, in this day and age is not really acceptable. WiFi was available in the local area and over in the main hotel building, so it wasn't a great hardship to us....but neither would it be to the hotel to install some infrastructure to allow guests access to the internet without having to go in search of it. Not all guests are at liberty at all times to leave their dependents to go and check on urgent emails etc.

Close to slopes

Dated but clean and spacious with very minimal kitchenette. Most staff were very friendly and helpful but we did have 2 who were much less helpful. Good value and the ability to be on the lift in under 5 minutes was great!

Location Great

The hotel is in need of a re furb as the interior of the apartments is very dated. Best things about the apartments are they are very spacious and the one bedroom has 2 bathrooms which is great for a group. The close proximity to the slopes is also a great advantage. Top tip if staying. The sound proofing is not very good in the rooms. Lift noise, corridor noise. If you are a light sleeper, take earplugs. But overall the rooms represented good value for money compared to other offerings in the village. Manage your expectations. This is not 4 star quality more like 2 star in a great location to the slopes.
