Amazing pods in a lovely area

The pods were super cute and so warm...if you leave the windows shut! The location is amazing, and the restaurant has a view over a river, the bridge, a trolls face imbedded into the side of the embankment and parts of the troll walk. Yes the bathrooms are all shared facilities and yes there are three hot tubs that you can use between 5pm - 11pm but it is literally just across from all the pods which is great .

The place was nice and cozy, we rented the blankets and pillows but the heater was on so probably could have just done with 1 blanket for a couple rather then 2 blankets, we brought our own towels so didn’t have to pay for towels, the only down side was the toilets which are Not too close to the pods and a bit far to walk in autumn/winter, I had to go early morning and it was raining so got wet, the kitchen was good had almost everything for cooking.

The camping pod was immaculate, clean and really warm even with the cold wind and weather so much so that we had to turn one of the heaters off. The staff were really pleasant and welcoming and spoke very good English. The onsite facilities have a kitchen, showers and toilets all within a really short distance to all pods. We never tried the evening restaurant but we had breakfast which wasn’t especially varied, but had enough to set us up for the day cold meats, small pastries cereals etc no cooked breakfast though which was perfectly fine for us. Our only (minor) gripe was nobody was there to check us in despite letting the site know in advance what time our flights arrived etc, reception closed at 7pm (winter hours) which meant we had to call a number to be booked in and waited for someone to come which thankfully was only a few minutes, but if we had no phone, dead battery from travel etc we would’ve been stuck with no way to let someone know we were there as there’s no phone facilities/intercom onsite. A pre warning of this by the site would have been appreciated, but only a minor issue and I would gladly and will most probably stay here again on my next trip and highly recommend it.

Went to Iceland in January. It was very cold. -20 at one point! However, the pod was SO warm. It was cosy and just one of the best experiences i've had. The guy (he also writes Troll books!) who runs it is lovely and I highly recommend buying the bedding for your stay. It's very affordable. Wonderful place!

As a group of four we all agreed that this was a unique rest stop and full of surprises. Steinar the owner, was a lovely host and the whole place was totally relaxed. The pods we slept in were more than adequate, warm and cosy despite being December. The Expedia pictures did not do the surrounding area justice, as we had no idea about the river and waterfall that ran in front of the main building, or the troll walks that had all been created by Steinar as well as the books he had written. We only stayed the one night as we were heading north of Iceland, but would definitely return as there was so much we could see and do in the area.

We stayed here whilst on a trip round route one. The pods are perfect, warm, not too big, not too small and come with a great view. The shared facilities are also of a high standard, there's nothing we didn't like about staying here and would happily do so again. Only thing of note is that there's no option purchase hire of bed linen through hotels.com when booking, although it's easy enough to send them a message beforehand

Practically froze to death

No where does it mention that you have to bring your own bedding! The pods are absolutely freezing cold, and without any duvets or pillows we almost froze to death! However, the pods are new and in a good, clean condition so at least you die in clean surroundings with a nice view.

Excellent!

Stayed in small camping pod and loved it. Loved the atmosphere there. Overall, much greater than I expected, and I already was excited for the stay. the restaurant overlooking the waterfalls and river, the troll garden stroll, the hot tubs. All superb. It is in a remote area and provided us an excellent view of the northern lights, which we watched from the hot tub. Ideal experience, I recommend giving it a shot.
