Great location by the seaport and so well connected to different subway lines. There are lots of food shops and restaurants nearby which was really handy and the kitchen in the apartment had everything we needed. The apartment was a bit “old” and tired with peeling cupboards and marks on the walls. The staff were polite but not particularly engaged. When we checked in they didn’t even say the usual “have a good stay” they just told us to look at our email for instructions on how to access the room. Aside from that they ignored us. Be aware it is VERY noisy and the earplugs are useless. The traffic noise is constant but there is also construction going on all round the apartment block so there is noise from that too. Most of the time this is blocked out by the incredibly noisy air con in the apartment. A definite overload of sound!

The property is located near large subway hubs which is very convenient. There are some useful shops in the vicinity that support the self contained nature of the rooms. The equipment in the property is up to date and the bed linens are of good quality. The closet doors and some of the furniture are a bit knackered and tired and could use some updating. The major drawback for this property is the extreme noise from long term multiple building sites across the street and behind the property, who work around the clock and on weekends. Heavy machinery was allowed to run from 2am at night which made it impossible to sleep. There is also persistent strike action from organised unions outside this property and across the street who blare trumpets and whistles early in the morning until mid-day every day, which is incredibly annoying. Sadly, this excruciating noise made the experience a one star one and it’s heavily recommended that the property management act with transparency to manage the expectations of their future guests in their communication to avoid being seen as a bait-and-switch operation. We won’t be staying here again and we don’t recommend anyone who isn’t already deaf to stay here as long as these problems persist.

Upon arrival my room had not been cleaned properly. There were items on the floor. I rang Sonder to complained and asked for my room to be cleaned. They said to send pictures and they would inform housekeeping. I sent pictures, no one even contacted me. I informed the staff, nothing done. My dirty towels were not removed from outside my door for two days. This happened twice. I was only able to get towels & linen for the first five days. I had given my request for daily items on the first day so the staff were aware of my needs. They did not provide linen after the first five days. I had issues on this matter, the Housekeeping Manager spoke to me and assured me I would get my towels & linen my that evening. I received nothing for the duration!! She did not even follow up to see if everything was ok. Windows not sound proof. You can hear all of the building work and rubbish collection every night.

Sonder 1 Platt will go down as the worst place I have ever paid to stay in! Initial check-in was easy (although we did baulk at $3 fee to use public lounge loo 45 mins before our official check-in time!), however our apartment was in a terrible state. There was scribble all over the hall walls/table, loo roll holder was hanging off wall, large scratches to furnishings etc. We are a family of 4 but had only been supplied with 1 set of towels! I reported it on the chat (on app) - during which I discovered we were missing lots of items. Icing on cake was fake kitchen drawer falling on my toe rendering me immobile. It wasn't just the missing items and the accident due to the broken furnishings (which has severely hampered ability of myself to walk & hence enjoy my long-planned holiday for my wedding anniversary) but the lies that I was fobbed off with when trying to get things resolved. How does it take over 2.5 hours to get towels!!! Especially when I was told it would take 10-15 minutes!! It was quicker to get a microwave turntable than it was to get towels, pillows, hairdryer, loo rolls, soap etc - all standard items in renting out accommodation! Whilst the supervisor was lovely when she did arrive, I am extremely disappointed with Sonder's reaction & in great pain from the accident caused by the broken furnishing. I will be taking this further in terms of obtaining legal advice for both the physical damage caused to me and the negative effect which it has had on our holiday.
