The room itsesf was perfect for what I needed, but the noise was a real problem. Right next to the elevator shaft you hear every movement it makes all day and especially the night. TV noises from neighbours were ridiculously loud, this included general TV noise during the day (they must've had it at full volume, I could hear every word from my room), there was also loud party music and noises on Friday and Saturday that went on till the small hours. In short, great room, but don't book here if you want a quiet and restful night.

Room was good with well equipped kitchen and facilities. Bathroom had a bit of a smell but when this was highlighted it was addressed immediately. Parking expensive in the area, good dining facilities nearby.

A lovely clean apartment with lots of facilities, although the shower was a bit hit and miss. The room is lovely in an aging building, but is easy to get to local transport and local tourist sites such as the baseball stadium.

I visited Detroit as a lone female attending the Indycar Grand Prix in the city and wanted somewhere to stay where I felt safe and secure being here on my own. Sonder ticked all those boxes, and the apartment I had was absolutely delightful! Much bigger than I expected, and much better equipped (as a Brit, the kettle was a very welcome find!) with my own kitchen facilities meaning I could pick up some groceries and cook for myself rather than having to go out for dinner every evening. The area around the property felt quite safe, and the DAX Airport Xpress bus dropped off/picked up directly opposite the property which was a massive added bonus. Would definitely stay in another Sonder property again after my experience here.

Average stay, good location but poor cleaning

I stayed one night at the Sonder Gabriel Richard in Room 614 (1bdr). Positives are that the downtown location is excellent, within walking distance to many attractions. Negatives are that the sofa bed was quite uncomfortable and trash from the previous tenants were present in the fridge. All in all, an okay stay for one night but would have been problematic for any extended period of time.

I arrived a few mins early I couldn’t check in until exact time but I was standing outside tryn my keypad n it didn’t work while security sat at the desk n watched me struggle with bags. Get to my room everything was ok until it was time to shower there was tones over 7spots of mold on the shower liner and the shower curtain was nasty especially at the bottom looks like old urine then I tried to get some rest but I damn near froze to death because the heat didn’t work so I slept with my coat hat and two pair of socks on I was having hope that it would work woke up told front desk about my issues and they sent a guy up with a space heater at that point I just ended my stay and checked out a day early. The concept of this place is nice but it needs a lot of attention to small things that makes for a great stay the only thing I enjoyed was the view.

We had a great 2 night stay. Room was clean, we made use of the washer dryer too. Super close to downtown. Parking lot available in a 2-3 min walking distance ($30 for 24h). Would stay here again.

The view of the city when you walk in to the room is so cool. The space feels open, clean, all usable. We didn’t stay long, but the staff was friendly, giving their personal recommendations and going the extra mile getting us into our room early.

Clean building, good location. Towel racks coming off the walls, bathroom clean but not the vent cover in the ceiling, shampoo/conditioner/soap dispensers not properly installed in shower. Having another blanket on the bed would have been good.

Unfortunately the unit we stayed in was not very clean. There were stains on the duvet under the cover and lots of dust in the vents. Also the room only had heat in the bedroom and not in the bathroom, so was overall cold.

Spotless, great location, and the recommended parking lot across the street was very convenient. Terrific to have a full kitchen and washer/drier in the unit. The architecture of the unit was striking - we had a corner efficiency, with tall ceilings and large windows. Comfortable, quiet, spacious, and great value!
