There were 2 stoves in the kitchen, 1 was broken. Also not enough tools to cook properly. In the ad of the location we should have one desk in the room, we had to ask to add it as it wasn’t there at our arrival. No furnitures at all in the room. AC was not attached properly to the wall and cold air draft was coming inside making the room cold, also the AC once on was very noisy. Cleaning service was almost absent.

Very disappointing. There was no communication from the hotel, even when there was a major leak from the ceiling. Stains on the wall suggested that this leak was not new. Bedsheets and towels were stained too, there was no safe, no desk, no bedside table, and no bedside light or lightswitch.

Great location for us with amenities on the doorstep. Great communication with management and housekeeping team. Pizza across the street and healthy supermarket a couple of doors down.

A noisy scam

Right so, long story short this is kind of a scam. The room it self was a miniature. We did not have hot water for the forst half day which eventually was fixed. I have to admit that on this the hotel responded pretty quickly. The solution however was to wait until the next day since they didnt have anyone on site to look at it. The linen were yellowish and at the same time the hotel was threatening to hold the full deposit if we mess the towels. Finally they did not even offer a bottle of water and they clearly mentioned that the bottles in the fridge will be charged. Finally, the outside noise was unbearable even woth the earpligs provided by the hotel.

The hotel is in a great location but it is looking really tired and the photos are not an accurate reflection of its current state. The wallpaper was peeling, the bathroom vanity was damaged and the toilet roll holder was broken and hanging off the wall. It needs a tidy up everywhere to warrant the price tag!

We have visited New York a number of times and are very glad to have discovered the East Village Hotel. We have now stayed there twice and wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else. The hotel is in a great location and the staff could not be more welcoming and helpful. Afrim in particular went out of his way to help with anything we needed and was the perfect host. We found the small kitchenette in the room was ideal when staying for a longer break of a week or ten days. The room is very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. The hotel is in a great location with great bars and restaurants and lots of small independent shops and vintage shops. All round a great place to stay in the east village neighbourhood.

Horrible service - I would never chose this hotel

It's a very small room with "no wardrobe" but a kitchen. Terribly noisy, day and night, and there are single windows so they don't stop the noise at all. One night we returned late and there was not one single towel in the bathroom. When we arrived the first day the receptionist said there is a 24/7 service by the phone who will solve any queries or problems when the reception is closed at night. We called and asked for towels to be able to have a shower, they asked us to wait for a call back with an answer at 1AM in the morning, and we waited 1 1/2 hours, we called 3 times, no one ever called us back. The following day at the reception they just said they were sorry and that 24/7 service doesn't solve this type of issues because they are not at the hotel. They never paid back for the international calls.

Room as described. Easy access except we couldn’t get into the room with the code given. A phone call sorted that. It transpired we had been emailed a revised room code earlier in the day. However we had no internet access so we were unaware.

Small basic hotel in Manhatten

The hotel is small, and all you get is a room - there are no other facilities (bar, lounge etc). Breakfast not provided. The room is OK, though storage is limited. There is a hob, kettle, coffee maker and fridge in a small kitchenette. Our room overlooked 1st Avenue and was very noisy Free wifi The main benefit is the location in Lower East Side - close to Greenwhich village and good transport links

A great find in East Village

Great little apartment in heart of East Village. Couldn't ask for better location; fascinating range of restaurants, communities, people and service. A few niggles (room is small so no wardrobe - just a rail with 6 of the worst designed hangers you could imagine so take your own; there is a mini ironing board but as we had to live out of suitcase for 10 days as no wardrobe had to use this loads, which is a pain) but the comfort of the bed, location, kitchen and terrific air-con negated these. We were a bit concerned about the lack of 24 hour front desk (it now runs from 08.00 - 23.00) but this didn't turn out to be a problem. You can request a room on the 3rd floor so not directly above the coffe shop, and also facing East 9th street, which is a bit quieter than 1st Avenue - however, we felt the rooms were on the whole very well insulated anyway and didn't experience any problem with noise. We are already planning a return trip.

Fab stay at East Village Hotel

A great place to stay for a real New York experience. The location in the East village is brilliant for cool bars, restaurants and cafes right on the doorstep. The room has everything you need with modern decor and the kitchenette was great. Robert on reception was especially helpful. Would recommend to couples and friends and would definitely stay again.

Perfect hotel when on a budget

The location of this hotel was perfect for getting to all tourist spots, with subway just a few blocks away and a lot going on within easy walking distance. Hotel rooms were light and modern with all you might need, including small kitchenette if you want to eat in, though you won't need to with so many restaurants, coffee shops and take-aways on your doorstep. Hotel staff were extremely helpful and arranged our airport transport. Whilst the condition of the rooms were a little tired, we found the hotel to be exactly right for the budget and would highly recommend.
