Spent a lovely four nights at Skipjack on our way down the Keys. Staff friendly and helpful, pool and bar good too. There is obviously refurbishing and rebuilding taking place so some areas looking tired, but it will be great once finished. Had some very good sushi one evening and continental breakfast was a bonus.

Had a great stay at Skipjack, really lovely location for a quiet break. Fantastic staff, great food, great bar. Really relaxing spot and a great base for exploring Marathon and the surrounding area. We went by car, but it looked like plenty of places could be reached by bike. Nearby Sombrero beach is a fantastic spot with good facilities (parking costs are a little steep)

Great stay

Skip Jack was a nice resort and did exactly what was needed for our 2 night stay on Marathon. Check in staff were very helpful. Pool area was lovely. Accommodation/suite was nice too.

We had a great time, friendly staff,very helpful, we would not hesitate to go again. Pics probably make it look a bit more palacial than actually was but everything there for a good vacation.We stayed two weeks.

Wouldn’t stay again.

We stayed here for 3 nights, reception staff are lovely&very helpful. Room was actually an apartment-lounge/kitchen/bedroom/bathroom was clean, comfortable and spacious. Parking available to the side of the property first come first served but we never had any problems getting a space. Wouldn’t of booked this is we knew there would be construction work from 8am in the neighbouring building across the road. Constant noise and a couple of hours laying by the pool resulted in being absolutely covered in dust/grime that had blown over! Restaurant disappointing, they don’t serve lunch and the dinner options are limited. The main negative here is breakfast- eat elsewhere if you can even though they include it with your stay. The guy who runs the breakfast is extremely rude, the process is ridiculous and unorganised with people just walking in confused. Then if you ask a question you get bagels waved in your face and a whole load of sass! Plus the food was gross. Stick to the cereal if you have to eat there!

We had a great time as a family (2 adults, 2 kids age 8 & 11) at Skipjack. We really enjoyed the pool, hotel staff even played pool golf with our kids. The location is perfectly positioned to explore the upper and lower Keys as Marathon is located virtually right in the middle of the Keys. The only strange thing was that our room slept 4 but we only had enough cutlery and crockery for 3 people. I’m sure reception would have provided extra but we didn’t get around to it. We will be back next time we visit the Keys!

Nice place

Modern clean room with comfy bed and lots of space. Outside of the apartment looked a little tired but it didn’t affect our stay. Parking nearby. Breakfast is basic but there was lots of it and it was a nice touch. Didn’t use the pool but looked nice & had lots of space around for relaxing.

The property inside was exxcellent, very clean and good solid furniture. The bed was massive. Outside looked a bit tired in places but they were still recovering from the hurricane. The staff were very friendly and did all they could to sort out any queries

Clean, modern, spacious suites

These suites don’t look much from the outside but once you get inside it’s a different story. Very modern, clean and spacious. There were lovely views over the marina just a shame the balconies didn’t face this way instead of over the car park. Pool was decent, sun loungers always available no matter what time of day, very quiet during the day but livened up from around 3pm when the bar opened. You can walk to the beach or take the hotels bikes but they only have adult bikes so as we were travelling as a family with 2 kids we couldn’t take advantage of this. The free breakfast isn’t great but did the job. The quality of the hotel for the price is really good especially in the keys, i’d happily stay here again.

Perfectly acceptable

1 week stay in July. The Keys is a fun place to be and Skipjack is a good base. Decent beach just down the road and very nice pool and bar. Supermarket 2 mins down the road and plenty of places to eat nearby.

Fantastic suites

Fantastic suites, got a lovely water view room as requested. In my infinite wisdom I should of put more thought into the fact it was a pull out bed. My mum and Dad were in the large bedroom! Being on the bigger side my husband and I didn’t sleep,the first 2 nights but Karla on reception was fantastic and rectified the problem. Nothing was too much trouble for the amazing staff here. Pool area is nice although the only negative I could give is the pool needs a good clean round the edges but the remnants of hurricane Irma is still apparent and they are all working hard to get there hotel back up to scratch. Great free breakfast, plenty to satisfy. Pizza and snacks are served on an evening, very reasonable. The manager chats and likes to get feedback on your visit. Really have nothing to complain about will definetly return loved the skipjack.

What’s in a name?

Hotel? Not really. Motel? Nope. Resort? No. This is a hard one, the web site shows a happy young couple in stylish paradise. The rooms and public areas do have a contemporary style with some lovely touches but it’s still struggling to recover from Irma. The restaurant is closed, the do pizza on several nights and the tennis courts are currently a car/boat park. I’d love to come back once it’s back to full steam and can deliver on paradise.

Not as advertised, many facilities not available.

The early check in and spacious, newly renovated (3 out of the 4 plastic wine glasses still had their Ikea stickers still on them!) room was good. The bad, advertising basic facilities, then discovering they are not available. I requested an accessible bathroom as I have mobility problems due to spinal cord injury 2 years ago. The bathroom was very nice. However, all rooms start from the 2nd floor. The lifts are still not working from the hurricane back in September. This also means, that you have to haul your own luggage up the stairs and every time you leave, the stairs have to be conquered. You will have to leave the property to eat. As the advertised breakfast, lunch and dinner service, plus the pool bar, are not available. Nor is the breakfast which is included in the resort fee. Laundry facilities, fitness room (I use an exercise bike daily to stretch my contracted muscles) also not available. Instead of the expected marina view from the unfinished room balcony, we got the car park and other units, many of which are occupied by local residents and contractors. Lots of small, broken glass on the paths and parking areas. On the one evening the pool bar was open, my husband was given and charged for an out of date beer from a different fridge from the one used to serve local people. Had we not paid in advance for the room, we should have left straight away once we discovered that it was not as advertised or suitable for us. The resort fee was refunded.

Good location was nice and quiet for our stay. Very friendly staff. Nice accommodation. Loved the pool had it to ourselves a lot of the time. Only thing I would change is the air con although very effective makes an annoying buzzing noise every 30 mins or so.

A wonderful time at a wonderful place

We had a wonderful stay at the Skipjack Resort & Marina. Our room was spacious, very clean and well equipped. The location is superb. You can walk to several shops and restaurants and the beach is only a couple of minutes drive away. The staff was accommodating and friendly. I would definitely coming back in future. Thank you for making our time unforgettable.

Reasonable hotel in good location

Room was comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a great location for beach, food shopping, restaurants, activities and access to rest of Keys. Nice pool area. Note whole hotel is in process of renovation so some tired areas and disruption but did not negatively affect our trip.
