Our second stay in this beautiful house (previously in 2019) was just as good as we remembered it to be. Clean, spacious and well equiped house in a wonderfully peaceful and beautiful location. Many thanks, Pandora, we hope to return soon.

A beautifully presented house
We loved staying in this well equipped house. It was spacious but cosy and comfortable. It was so peaceful but only 10 minutes away from the town. We made great use of the table tennis table and snooker table in the barn. The large garden was amazing with great views over the beautiful countryside.
The local town of Lubersac has 2 excellent supermarkets and 2 boulangeries to choose from. The outdoor swimming pool open during July and August was brilliant and such good value.
We couldnt have asked for anything more.

Cozy Classic French barn....and relax!
Tucked away down a narrow country lane La Panetterie was a simple spacious barn. Blissfully cool inside despite the hot weather, stepping out of the kitchen doors into the huge rear private garden was wonderful.
Close enough to the Lubersac shops and ideally located for visiting the many medieval villages and the chateau and racecourse in Pompadour. (I recommend the race meetings at Pompadour as a relaxed, friendly, fun afternoon. The course is small with a cross country steeplechase inside the sandy main course and the setting in front of the imposing chateau is spectacular!)
The gite's impressive attached oak beamed barn houses a very warped table tennis table (unpredictable bounces!) and the bikes needed a fair bit of maintenance (flat tyres, lubrication) and cleaning before we could use them but they were a welcome, fun addition to this property. Nice country walks, stunning sunsets and fabulous peace and quiet made our fortnight's stay very relaxing indeed.
The wi-fi was not working due to a replacement livebox and some faults on the telephone line after a storm, so we only had our last day with Internet access. It meant using cafe internet access but although disappointing, it was one less distraction with no emails to reply to!
The gite is extremely well equipped with garden furniture including sun loungers, stylish Limoges crockery, lots of cutlery, pots and pans, adapter plugs, matches, torches, cleaning items, fly sprays etc. etc. All very much appreciated. Also great support from lovely English ex pat Sonia who helped answer our questions, brought replacement light bulbs and organised the wi-fi repairs. Thanks!
Definitely on our "must visit again" list!

Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Communication
Endroit calme

Excellent Gite in a beautiful location
We had a wonderful time at La Panetterie – the gite was very comfortable and the garden was a joy. It was everything we hoped it would be and, with perfect weather, it made the stay a memorable one for all the right reasons. We loved the local villages and we did quite a bit of early morning walking and saw some wonderful dawns. I drove over to Suc Au May just as the dawn was breaking - the view was stunning and I enjoyed a lovely walk around the area.
We will certainly recommend La Panetterie to friends who are looking to stay in the area.

A FANTASTIC PLACE FOR A PEACEFUL HOLIDAY
The three of us spent 10 wonderful days here.We used La Panetterie as a base to explore the surrounding countryside with it's many pretty villages and towns. If you want to find out more about the area there is a blue folder full of things to see and do provided by the owner in the living room.We found everything we needed in the cottage, which is very well equipped, but just be aware that the oven has an automatic lock on the door which prevents you from opening it until the temperature drops, this is indicated by a small red padlock light which goes out when you can open it.The local village of Lubersac has a good selection of small shops as well as Super u and Lidl supermarkets. We met Sonia the caretaker and Keith, originally from Doncaster, who came in and cut the grass. We have to thank Sonia for recommending the town of Brantome, what a lovely place, and the 50 minute boat trip up and down the river is a must.If you need to know about the pros and cons of living in France either Keith or Sonia can fill you in.
We live in a very small village in rural Norfolk and are used to a pretty quiet life, but we were amazed at the stillness and complete lack of any noise when we stood outside in the late evening,as they say "The silence was deafening" and the absence of any light pollution meant we were treated to a fantastic star filled sky.
We would certainly recommend this property to anyone looking to "chill out" for a week or two and we may return ourselves at some point in the future.Richard,Topsy and mike

Summer 2012
We spent two memorable, relaxing weeks at La Panetterie. The property is located within a scenic, rural area and we witnessed the busy harvest activity during our stay. The house is the best equipped holiday home we have occupied over several years. It has huge private gardens to the front and rear with a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside,a particularly attractive location for the evening barbeque. Philip the caretaker maintains the pristine gardens and Sonia takes pride in the house.
We were thrilled to find that we had the use of 4 quality bikes which we used to tour the surrounding area.
The village of Lubersac is a 5 minute drive away. It is a sleepy, welcoming village with a range of attractions, including the patesserie/chocolatier for your fresh baguette and patesserie treats, Galbrinus the local hostelry, famous for its croque monsieur (which unfortunately we didn't get to sample) and its hospitality (which we witnessed first hand), Super U and the very well run municipal swimming complex, not to mention the pizzeria.
There is a range of attractive little towns and villages within easy reach, including Arnac-Pompadour where you must visit the Chateau, Restaurant 7 and the Ramparts bar. Uzerche with its lovely old quarter is worth a visit as is Segur le Chateau, one of a group of the prettiest villages in France.
Further afield, Brive la Gaillarde, about 40 minutes away, is worth a day visit.
We enjoyed our two weeks in La Panetterie at the end of which we were sorry not to have another week left, but we hope to return again in the not too distant future.

2 weeks at la panterrie
we had a lovely two weeks ,the accomadation is lovely, very homely and welcoming, and very well equiped , the surrounding area is beautifull, we met the owner of the goat farm who was most welcoming and invited us to see the goats milked which we did, it was very enjoyable, you could also purchase their excellent goats cheese. Lubersac has an excellent outdoor swimming pool which we went to most days. The bikes were excellent, we had a really relaxing time with lots of barbieing and games in the garden.

Review of La Panettiere 2010
Very well equipped large house with big garden in a lovely peaceful setting. It's quite remote but with a really nice small town a few miles away. The beds were comfortable, everything worked,(except the bikes which needed a bit of work) and there was a table tennis table which was great. Lovely lake to swim in about 20 mins away, and friendly helpful owners. If a peaceful, quiet rural holiday is what you want I would recommend La Panettiere. Suze,UK

Tranquil and relaxing holiday setting
Our thanks to Pandora Ward for providing us with the opportunity to enjoy a new area of France in a lovely peaceful setting. A great base to discover the many different aspects of the Limousin region.
The cottage was more than suitable for a family of 5. Our 3 young energetic daughters spent most evenings running or cycling around the big garden whilst their parents cooked on the barbeque and only stopped when they really had to! The rooms were a good size and very comfortable and everything we needed from basic food supplies to DVD's and games/toys was provided.
We spent our days exploring the region and our most memorable days includud a trip to Limoge where we spent a great deal of time around the Cathedral grounds, which were stunning, a couple of visits to Collanges La Rouge (which I particularly loved!) and 2 very laid back days at Lake Vigeois which was safe and fun for the children and very relaxing for parents. We also visited some of the other surrounding villages and loved the medieval buildings.
Our holiday ended with a minor crisis - all of our own making - but Pandora and her housekeeper could not have been more helpful when it came to resolving the issue. From the initial enquiry about booking the cottage to the resolution of our problem, the communication from Pandora has been first class and we really appreciate the time and effort she has put in to making our holiday happen and ensuring that everything was it should be.
Overall a great value holiday and one we will remember fondly.

Peaceful French Property
Have just returned from an enjoyable 2 weeks at La Panetterie. The property is situated in a quiet rural location yet only 2.5 miles form the pretty town of Lubersac which has good facilities including good supermrket (Super-U) and patisseries/boulangeries. An ideal location for exploring the beautiful and unspoilt Limousin countryside and yet near enough to travel to the best parts of the Dordogne and Lot .
The property is very comfortable and well equipped and the family immediately felt at home. We had many long walks from the property through quiet countryside and the bicycles provided ,enabled us to go further afield without driving . The cycles were very good quality with sensibly helmets provided.
The evenings were still cold and the property provides more than adequate heating with wood provided for the open log fire.
A very good property and excellent value for money, suitable for a family holiday or those seeking peace and tranquility and a true french experience.

Peace and Quiet
We spent a super week at La Panetterie. The house is ideally situated for exploring this lovely area of Limousin, which we found just as attractive as the Dordogne but without the crowds and traffic. Lubersac is a delightful village with good shopping (new Super-U), restaurants, tennis courts and heated public pool. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming and had time to chat to visitors. The bikes included in the rental were a joy for cycling along the quiet country lanes, collecting blackberries, wild apples and plums but the walking is just as nice – the only traffic being the occasional tractor. The situation is quiet, all you can hear is the lowing of the cattle and the tinkle of goat bells from the nearby farm. Overall, a very pleasant rental and very good value for money.
