What a treasure!

This stay exceeded far exceeded my expectations. From the start, communication was excellent and I felt confident prior to arrival that we would have all we would need for a relaxing stay. On arrival to this lovely little Aframe, I was blown away both with the thoughtful details inside and the beautiful scenery outside. There is even a lovely hanging flower basket outside. We can’t wait to come back!

Bluestone Acres is a family-owned and operated farm and agritourism business. Our founders, Kaare and Ron, are as Norse as they come—without the longboats but with all the hospitality. Only second generation Canadian with strong Norwegian lineage, they’ve planted their roots (and some pretty nifty herbs) in this land, honouring the Simpcw First Nations’ traditions and the earth’s natural mojo. We let Nature Lead the Way here. Of the things they take seriously, this one is high up on the list. Enamoured by the Culture and rich history of the Norse Farmers and the 'Viking Code of Ethics, ' our founders are committed to bringing back a simpler yet more connected way of living. When honour meant something, truth was expected, and good hospitality was of the upmost importance. When dialogue with land and Kin was always respected and bravery meant the courage to express freely and defend that right for others. The warrior's way - without the raiding, of course.

Why they chose this property

Wells Gray Country, located in the Thompson Nicola region of interior British Columbia, is a remarkable area known for its diverse and stunning natural features. We fell in love with the many wonders that nature provides here. Here’s what makes it unique:

Inland Temperate Rainforest: It is home to the world’s only inland temperate rainforest, offering a unique ecosystem with a rich biodiversity.

Volcanic Landscape: The region is part of a volcanic field that began forming around 3.5 million years ago, featuring extinct volcanoes, lava beds, and mineral springs.

Glaciers and Waterfalls: Glaciers have sculpted the landscape, and the area boasts 41 named waterfalls, including the famous Helmcken and Dawson Falls.

Flora and Fauna: Dense forests with Douglas-fir, western red cedar, and hemlock provide habitat for a variety of wildlife, including grizzly bears, black bears, moose, and caribou.

Cultural Heritage: The land is steeped in history, with the Simpcw and the Tsq’escenemc First Nations having resided here since time immemorial, alongside settler and pioneer families.

Wells Gray Country is a testament to nature's raw and powerful beauty, offering visitors a chance to experience a landscape that is both ancient and ever-changing. Whether you’re exploring its waterways, forests, or volcanic formations, it’s a place that truly stands apart from any other in the world

What makes this property unique

Our property boasts a riverfrontage and is unique as it offers Viking-themed, off-grid luxury cabins and camping. We've combined the raw and pure beauty of nature with the rich opulence of luxurious comforts inside the cabins, just as the Vikings did. There is a 10 min hike down to your cabin/campsite, or we can shuttle you if you have a lot of gear or mobility challenges. We are also a working farm, so we are an agritourism location. We raise bees and chickens, and it looks like cats now, too. There is never a dull day here scenery-wise and the weather never fails to put on a show. It is Valhalla!
