About this property
Peace & Privacy in a Dutch Colonial Style Home
Beautiful 3-story home with three acres of lush, forested land on the southeast side of Raleigh.
With hard pine floors throughout, the house was built with wood from the property. Gorgeous natural light floods the solarium from a south-facing frontal exposure, where small gargoyles flank the approach.
The house is completely unique, and designed with family life in mind. There are bedrooms upstairs and down, plenty of bathrooms, and a layout that provides great shared spaces without forcing people together. There are plenty of work spaces, including the professional drafting table upstairs that was used by the home's architect. Now with a gigabit fiber internet connection!
As a bonus, the house is environmentally friendly!
Central heating and cooling are geothermally powered by a ground source heat pump. The solarium provides beautiful light and passive solar heating in the winter. The bottom floor is recessed below grade, and built with 10" thick poured concrete walls to stabilize temperatures all year round. The home is insulated to a level of R35 throughout and, in the winter, additional heating capacity and rustic pleasure comes from a wood stove on the ground floor. That stove in the solarium that can, on its own, heat the home with good old fashioned local, renewable firewood (provided).
FOR BUSINESSES RESERVATIONS:
If you're reserving for a working group, I am willing to host corporate clients for extended stays only under the following circumstances:
1) One person, who will be there for the duration of the stay, is my only point of contact. This should be the person making the reservation.
2) No more than 4 adults, and no more than 3 vehicles.
3) 3 or more overwhelmingly positive reviews from similar stays where your team was there.
