Brilliant large and comfortable house

Four families with kids ranging from 3 years old to 13 stayed at Landaviddy and we all had such a great time. The manor is so comfy and spacious, plenty of room for everyone. All the rooms have really comfortable beds and so everyone slept very soundly. The location is lovely and quiet so we didn't feel as though we were disturbing anyone, but it is a short walk into the picturesque Polperro. We only wish we could have stayed longer than a weekend!

Beautiful property set in a great location with fantastic amenities.

We stayed in the property for a family reunion of 14 and couldn't have wished for better accommodation! The facilities and space were fantastic catering to all our needs, a beautiful Manor House with lovely gardens to relax and unwind in! A great location to Polperro with ample parking at the house for all and a nice walk up and down the hill into town. We take away many fond memories of our 20 year reunion of family members from around the Globe in a house that made it just perfect! The service we received in booking our stay was exceptional with any questions answered promptly. Thank you again, next time we visit England we will be back!!

Wonderful house in Polperro

We booked the house for a weekend stay in November with a group of 16 for a 40th Birthday celebration and had an amazing time. The house is full of character, we particularly liked the bar! The kitchen is lovely and loads of space to all eat together in the dining room. The bedrooms were also really great with most having an ensuite or a private bathroom. Polperro is a lovely little village, nice shops and great pub the Blue Peter. Went walking along the coast path from the village and found a lovely little beach at Talland Bay. Would highly recommend Landaviddy and hope to return again next year!

Great memories made

I booked this for my Husband’s 50th . We had the house and cottage and both had charm. The manor it’s self had a bar and we had some great times there 😂 the pool and hot tub were fabulous spent a lot of time there. You may read in reviews that it’s dated and it is but this adds to its medieval charm . Wonderful grounds . I would definitely go back .. thanks

We had a lovely family holiday for my birthday

What a lovely house and beautiful grounds we had both the manor and the cottage we are a family of 16 from the age of 72 to 2 years and also 2 dogs. The pool and hot tub was amazing. The bar area was used every evening a lovely area for drinks games and laughter. The dining room plus piano was a joy. The kitchen had all the equipment needed for cooking and preparing meals. We all had such a lovely relaxing time we didn't want to leave. Martin was so helpful answering all our questions at any time. Just can't wait to return a big thank you from us all

A lovely old house in a wonderful setting

I rented Landaviddy Manor as a treat for some friends on my 60th birthday. I did fortunately book 11 months in advance as it is a highly sought after location for larger groups and so recommend others plan their trips here well in advance. The one issue which was a little frustrating was that the number of available rooms at the house seemed to decrease without us being notified after we had booked for a group of 19. As it turned out 3 of our group had to cancel due to Covid and we had sufficient rooms. Setting this aside we had a really wonderful time at the Manor House. The facilities, such as the large dining room, the bar area, the lounge, the lovely large garden with hot tub and the bar billiards room were perfect for a larger group to entertain themselves and the kitchen was very well stocked with all implements. We were happy to take our recycling with us, but hadn’t realised in advance and could have done with more bin bags. This was a minor issue which didn’t interfere with our trip. The coastal walks are absolutely stunning in both directions and Polperro village is beautiful. A very successful trip. For the future it would be helpful to be advised of any changes of rooms available after booking, but I couldn’t fault the venue. Just to also mention that one of our group somehow locked themselves out of one of the twin rooms at night, but the property manager very promptly organised a locksmith and also kindly offered a refund for that room for that night, which was I thought a nice gesture. Thank you to Landaviddy Manor managers and Vrbo for a wonderful long weekend. 😊

Mixed Review

I had booked this property in Nov 2020 to start my 60th birthday celebrations. I had read a few reviews so was expecting the hill to be steep but was expecting the property to be cleaner than it was, despite recent reviews. The cottage which we were offered at the last minute due to 2 bedrooms being out of bounds due to fire regs was damp and dirty, wet plaster between lounge and kitchen and a dehumidifier in lounge. My friends who had the use of the cottage had to spend time cleaning it and did not sleep well. The main house we all agreed is stunning however does need a bit of TLC and some of the rooms could do with a good clean. Some of the bedrooms were fine others were dusty and ensuites mouldy. One of the single beds was broken. We had workpeople wandering around for 2 days. I was informed about the first day, they were sorting one of the bathrooms, but had to query 2nd day. At no point was I told about the heating engineer, he was found coming out of the cellar by one of my friends. He fitted a new panel which meant we then had no hot water the following morning, however Doug fixed that for us. We had a caterer and having put plates in the Aga to heat she found that someone had put a clean plate on top of dirty plates so had to hand clean them all. One of the table clothes was found to be stained. Overall the property is in a great location. The grounds are good. The hot tub and pool was used during our stay with no complaints. The house itself could be so much better with just a few adjustments. A full deep clean and new table linen would go a long way to making this house so much better. Oh and a brighter light in the kitchen. It currently has a single pendant light in middle of room and a fluorescent light above window some distance from the cooker. I will keep an eye on this property as with a few tweaks it could be such a better place to stay. It is ideal for larger groups and for those unable to climb the hill back a taxi is not too expensive. I wish the owners all the best with their renovations and hope the work to improve the property continues.

What a weekend. House was amazing and catered for all. Pool and hot tub was a massive bonus. Loved the bar and was a great place to congregate in the evening. Nicki at the naughts and crosses pub in polperro catered for us and the Amanda from Home Spa Retreat kindly came and gave us all a spa treatment. Could be better.

Found Manor house quite dirty and in need of refreshing and redecorating. Some of beds need new mattresses especially downstairs bedroom. Photos on website need updating as we found 14 year old photos showing same views. Lid on hot tub is broken and dangerous and website description does not say how far from house it is! Although the fridge in kitchen was new it wasn't really big enough and the freezer needs replacing. We realize that the past 18 months have been difficult but a coat of paint would go along way.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Unsafe, unhygienic, bitterly disappointing

Our holiday was ruined by the extremely unsafe, unhygienic and poor condition of the house. Below standards for FHL property requirements and health and safety. - Green cloudy swimming pool. The gardener treated the pool daily with chemicals. The last day the pool cleared but we left that morning. - AGA out of service. Dougie explained the AGA had been lit for the owner's wife who stayed the week before us but as it had gone out by our arrival an engineer would need to be called out but this was not possible whilst we were there. Since leaving the owner has explained the AGA isn't normally used during the summer. - Central heating. Access to controlling the central heating was in the padlocked cellar. Not all the rooms have radiators, instead there was ONE old floor electric heater for the house. - Large door between the living room and dining room was propped up by an armchair as the door was hanging on one hinge. - House extremely dusty, cobwebs in every room. Carpets, furniture, linen, towels stained and marked. - Extremely strong smell of cigarette smoke, so intense we were unable to use the bar. - TV aerial cable broken. - Fire place dirty and metal grate broken. - Multiple plug sockets are unserviceable. - Baby stair gate broken. - BBQ rusty, unable to use - Hot tub jetty flooring area, very dangerous due to moss/dew/slim. - Bathrooms. Dirty. Shower drain blocked. - Cot & travel cot. Old, rusty, dirty. - House damp - Fridges broken, wasted over £100 worth of food. - Extractor fan. Broken. - First aid kit. partly used bandages, most items missing. - High chair. Filthy, rusty, no safety harness. - Bin. Broken with a large piece of metal protruding out. - Kettle. Filthy - Utensils. Most were broken and unfit for purpose. - Dirty piping left in a bag on the floor. - Mop & bucket. Unhygienic, mouldy, sat in filthy old water. - Fire alarm system is old, badly wired and unsafe. - Windows for fire escape routes are sealed or locked. - Overloaded plug sockets or multiple extension leads linked together. - No fire blanket or extinguisher in the kitchen or property. - No visible fire escape routes from the rooms or exit lighting. - No evidence of PAT testing anywhere in the property. - Electrics are below current BS7671 standards. Owner has offered £200 compensation, an insult considering the problems and price we paid. Shocking attitude, accusational and difficult to reach. Photos need updating.

Making family memories

We had a wonderful family holiday, it’s a lovely old rambling house, very well equipped, comfortable beds and full of character, the gardens are lovely, we all made good use of the facilities including the heated pool, jacuzzi, games room and especially the bar area where we would all congregate in the evenings after all eating together in the dining room, we would play games, have sing songs and just enjoy each other’s company whilst having a drink or two! Polperro is a lovely little fishing village with some nice independent shops, the people are very friendly and helpful, the walk down is ok, but very steep coming back up, definitely gets your heart rate going! You don’t need to leave the Manor House if you don’t want to, you can pre order and get food delivered from the supermarket, but if you want to explore there are plenty of options available, we just wanted a good family holiday together making memories, which Landaviddy Manor was idea for.

Beautiful surroundings

The pictures of Landaviddy manor are exactly true it’s a old Manor House with beautiful gardens a fabulous heated pool and although I think the hot tub is too from the house as it’s a long walk back and you get cold. The facilities in the house were good everything you want in the kitchen the bedding was crisp and clean. This is a old house so don’t expect it to be modern inside some of the showers could do with a good clean their is mould on the doors and we noticed a few cobwebs. My family really enjoyed the weeks stay the hill into polperro was steep but we managed it with a wheelchair there and back thanks to family members. The children and adults thought the pool was brilliant but we did have good weather to make the most of this facility. We had a problem with a door after phoning the emergency number we managed to sort this out for ourselves. All in all a fabulous week with the family playing games in the bar area, we made lots of unforgettable memories and had lots of fun.

An attractive property set in beautiful grounds

Unfortunately we were very disappointed by the cleanliness of the house. Plus it was very run down and in desperate need of modernisation. The pool was murky and green and unable to be used despite the efforts of the owner to clear the water. Thankfully the gardens are very pretty.

Great family getaway.

We had a lovely family stay to celebrate my Mothers Birthday. Even in October the house was lovely and warm with wood provided to have an open fire, which we took full advantage of!! Rooms and beds where comfortable and clean. The kids loved the pool and we all enjoyed the hot tub, you will need a torch for the walk back to the house! Overall great stay, we hired a mobility scooter which was the only way for a family member to get up the hill, you need to be fit or prepared to drive out and park up for the day as it is a bit isolated and on a very long steep hill.

Perfect for a family break

We had a fantastic stay at Landaviddy Manor! Plenty of space with en suite bathrooms in most rooms. The kitchen and dining room were good communal spaces. The BBQ area was enjoyed by everyone with views of the large beautiful garden. The location is really handy for popping into town but far enough out of town to be quiet and peaceful. It is also well situated for day trips to the Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Communication with the property manager was always quick and efficient.

Amazing

Huge house that has the lot, space for all our needs. Even had the surprise of an outdoor pool. Grounds for the dogs to run were lovely. Spent most of the time in the bar, pool and hot tub. The steep hill walk to the town was hard work for some and the narrow roads were not nice to navigate, however they did not stop this house and holiday being a huge hit. Highly recommended, thanks for some amazing memories.
