About this property
Woodland Cottage - Pet Friendly accommodation walking distance to lake Daylesford
Based on the designs of renowned Australian architect Alistair Knox, Woodland Cottage is a light-filled mud brick cottage, nestled away in a quiet street in the picturesque town of Daylesford – the perfect tranquil retreat.
With natural and recycled materials throughout and lush garden views, you could call it rustic, but we think that wouldn’t do it justice. It simply has a delightful warmth and quirky character that makes you feel relaxed and at home from the second you walk through the door.
In fact you might even be tempted to exchange any plans you had in mind for snuggling up in front of a cosy wood fire or kicking back in the sunroom to soak up some rays and listen to the native feathered friends. Friendly kookaburras, magpies and tiny honeyeaters are all regular visitors.
Two comfortable bedrooms mean Woodland Cottage is perfect for couples, two couples or a small family of up to four people in total. For those looking to combine a bit of R&R with remote work, a large desk in the master bedroom looks over the landscaped garden towards the trees and gully at the back of the property – perfect for getting creativity flowing and making work seem less like… well, work.
The owners have two small fur babies who love lounging in front of the fire as much as they love a walk around the lake, so well-behaved furry family members are welcome as long as their two-legged companions pick-up after them, ensure they’re not digging and encourage staying on the floor while inside, not on furniture and beds. A generously sized, secure dog run with shelter will also ensure your pup is safely contained if you leave them while you explore all that Daylesford has to offer. Strictly no cats though. It’s nothing personal against cats; it’s just that the owners and many guests have allergies.
Whether you’re looking to unplug and get grounded in nature or enjoy all the food, fare and activity that Daylesford has to offer, Woodland Cottage is the perfect base. The famous Mill Market is a 2-minute stroll to the top of the street and the centre of town is an easy 10-minute walk (or 2-minute drive). But if the crisp, country air is more your thing, beautiful Lake Daylesford is a short walk in the other direction. Access to walking and hiking tracks through forests and along creeks that lead to some of the many springs Hepburn Shire is renowned for is also just minutes away.
The driveway provides easy access to the property and parking, but please note it’s a shared driveway, so parking is not allowed on the driveway itself or in the utility space. Please park in the allocated space behind the property or in the parking bay at the top left as you enter the drive. Be aware that front-wheel drives may have a difficult time getting out of the second parking bay, particularly in wet weather.
Payment: Credit Card surcharge applies if paying by credit card. Please contact us for current rates.
