Spacious holiday accommodation
We had a 3 night stay at The Escape and overall the property was great. Our party of 7 included 3 generations & there was plenty of space in the house for us all.
The highlights: lots… the huge lounge with large comfy sofas & an enormous TV (a bit like having a mini cinema!), the hot tub, the games room and the kitchen with every piece of equipment you could possibly need. The location is fantastic - we had a few trips out to the Heights of Abraham, Longshaw (National Trust) and the steam train in Matlock.
Very few ‘lowlights’ but the property is quite a contradiction in that it has a huge modern TV and hot tub, but was dated in other ways eg floral ceramic loo roll holders, & old-style fitted bedroom furniture.
I wouldn’t recommend the house for anyone with mobility issues; there isn’t a bath or shower downstairs, there are some trip hazards and there are some doorways with a step immediately after you open the door.
None of the bathrooms have locks on the door, which I’m sure is fine for some but wasn’t great for us.
The house was generally clean but this could have been better. There were a few cobwebs (including on the floor) and we found rubbish behind furniture which had obviously been there a while. We tried to use one of the spa baths and when we turned the jet on lumps of what looked like mold came out, so we stuck to the showers which were fine.
Overall, a great property with loads of space and facilities, which could be incredible with a few improvements.
