About this property
Domaine du Buc ---- The Dovecote --- for 2 people
In the course of restoration, the dovecote of Domaine du Buc is a real witness of the inheritance of the Tarn.
It is undoubtedly inspired by the style of the country, but reinterpreted by a 1900 look. It is a pigeon house of square section, with a roof with four slopes, surmounted by a steeple also four slopes, but in dimensions much larger than traditional constructions of this type.
This dovecote has inside a rotating ladder, allowing easy access to wicker nests (called boulins) fixed on all interior walls. The construction also has two wings, located on the same plane. On the ground floor, the left side is reserved for poultry, the right side to the kennel.
Upstairs, a gallery accessed by a ladder, opens on small squares, which serve as hutches. The two courtyards, facing each wing, are surrounded by an elegant low wall, partly perforated and built with rounded tiles of a kind superimposed, and partly formed of pebbles of the Tarn and bricks laid obliquely in alternating rows. , common mode of construction in the region.
The restoration of the loft
Since January 2018, we have started many works in the dovecote. The first phase of work (from January to June 2018) allowed the restoration of the east facade and the "historic" part of the dovecote (frame, rotating ladder, boulins ..). Thanks to this restoration of quality, we obtained the label of the Heritage Foundation in August 2018. If you wish to discover other magnificent dovecotes in Occitanie, do not hesitate to consult the website of Michel Lucien Les Pigeonniers in Midi Pyrénées. A mine of information for all fans of these unusual buildings!
Moreover, Bernard Caner, architect DPLG having followed the renovation of the Dovecote, presented and won a national competition "The Golden Gesture" in September 2018 !! This prestigious award was presented to him at the end of September at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris !!
In November 2018, we started a second phase of work that will end in May 2019. These works consist in the construction of a character cottage, for 4 people, along the west facade of Pigeonnier ... An extension of 115m ², for a charming accommodation that will complete the offer of Domaine du Buc.
