WINTER SPECIAL . Book for 3 nights and we will make it 4 when you book . SIMPLE !
November 1 to April 15 . THE CABIN BEDROOM IS CLOSE DURING THE WINTER until mid April . There is a full Futon in the living room of the cottage. And a queen bed in the loft.

This charming rustic cottage is a minute walk to a beautiful rocky beach which is 450 ft away . In beautiful Hulls Cove . 3 minutes from the Main Park entrance and visitors center. It is five minutes to downtown Bar Harbor . It is a five minute walk to the free shuttle (The Island Explorer) Far Niente is peaceful and quiet. It has a lovely deck surrounded by pines where you can relax and have a barbeque after your day in the Park. Far Niente (which means 'to do nothing') comes equipped with all amenities. Far Niente is a beautiful cottage in the woods , and yes we do have an occasional insect visitor .
The cabin bedroom is 5 steps away from the main Cottage . Giving total privacy for 2 couples . A rustic all wood Cabin . Like luxury camping .

Adorable cottage and attentive host

The cottage was a great time for my partner and I. We wanted a relaxing getaway for our anniversary and this place provided just that! Very close to Bar Harbor and fairly easy to navigate the area. John stayed in touch and truly showed that he wanted us to have a great stay!

Cozy Cabin in the woods

We enjoyed a long winter weekend in Acadia. Far Niente cabin lived up to its name “do nothing” reminding us to relax as sometimes the best adventures come in the quiet moments spent in nature. Wonderful host John provided us with recommendations for activities and restaurants. Cabin was clean and we loved the cozy fireplace. We look forward to visiting again!

Fantastic stay!!

The cottage is so cute and cozy. Exactly as described and stocked with what any visitor might need. The host was communicative and helpful. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting Bar Harbor! Just outside town and 15-20 minutes from the national park. Thanks for everything! Helped make my visit trip to Maine amazing

Wonderful Time

The property was "as advertised". John was very much in communication via text with suggestions on enjoying the Bar Harbor area, which was much appreciative. The property was very clean and the location was great and convenient to both the town as well as different parts of Acadia NP. We stayed here 5 years ago and when we come back to the area we will stay there again.

Cozy stay on MDI

Truly lovely house and property. We enjoyed all of its features—even down to its design, color scheme, and general vibe. Did some yoga on the deck, some hanging out at night in the living area. Easy hike down to the beach nearby. Sometimes we cooked, sometimes we went out. Close to Bar Harbor town center and entrance to Acadia.

Charming Cottage

Wonderful stay at John's cottage! Great location: quiet neighborhood (with a beautiful view of the harbor on morning walks!) but also just a short drive to Hull's Cove Visitor Center and Bar Harbor. The cottage is charming and comfortable with lots of helpful amenities - love having a washer/dryer. We especially liked the cozy fireplace on cool rainy days and sleeping in the cabin bedroom. John was an excellent host, accommodating a late arrival and checking in with us throughout our trip. Definitely hoping to stay again!

Lovely getaway

Tucked away from the touristy hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor but still a quick drive/trip on the free shuttle to town and Acadia National Park, this gorgeous cottage has style and personality. We loved our stay both times we’ve been. It’s the perfect retreat.

Great Experience

This was our first trip to Bar Harbor and we were unsure where to stay but ended up deciding on this little cottage. Turned out to be the perfect place. We loved it. John was always more than accommodating and helpful and genuinely wanted our stay to be great. Will definitely return.

Comfy and close to everything

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this cabin! John (the owner) is one of the kindest individuals I’ve worked with while renting through Vrbo. He checked in at least a week before the stay, gave multiple recommendations on places to visit, and truly wanted to make sure our stay was worthwhile. The cabin was homey and comfortable. It’s a quick drive to the Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and the main road that will take you off the island or to different parts of the island. Our only minor concern was that the cabin was not as clean as we would have expected upon arrival, but nothing that detoured us! We both said as we left that we would consider staying again if we had a chance to visit Acadia again.

Pre-season getaway

We had a fabulous stay at Far Niente, and John is an exceptional host. The place was perfect for us, our adult son, and his sweet dog, Bear. Well-appointed, clean, full of precious details, and welcoming, the cottage was perfectly located to both Bar Harbor and the National Park entrance. We made such a great choice! Highly, highly recommend.

Our favorite place

This is our second time staying in Far Niente. It's by far our favorite place that we've stayed at. The location is quiet and close to town. Perfect for a quick run to a grocery store or dinner. We were there for Acadia National Park, which was a short drive away. The cottage itself is quaint and welcoming and had everything we needed. John was very communicative and was a truly great host. We'll be back!

John’s home was one of the highlights of our trip

We could not have asked for a better house to stay in that accommodated all of us, and all of our needs, and with the bonus that it was the cutest place that I have ever stayed in. In our group was myself, my daughter, her best friend, my father and his small dog. it was perfect and every way and the perfect homebase for our Acadia trip. John was an exceptional host and was readily available for any question, Recommendation or need that we had. I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend his home to everyone that I know, visiting Bar Harbor! Hope to be back soon

Fantastic location near Acadia

Perfect getaway

My husband and I had a wonderful time. This little cottage was great. The ocean is just a short walk away and everything in Bar Harbor is quick car ride. The host is very attentive and helpful. He even sent us a list of restaurants (we went in the off season so some places are closed) that were open and near by. The kitchen had everything we needed. It was comfortable, private, and clean. We will be going back in sure.
