Good property, good location.

Well appointed property, very well placed for exploring the SW Dales. Extremely comfortable bed, and a quiet village ensured a good sleep. 3 nights wasn't enough to tick everything on our list, so would gladly return.

Dales break

A comfortable and well equipped cottage in a good location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Stainforth has local walks and is within easy reach of Settle. The owner was friendly when we had a question. The log fire looks cosy, although we didn’t need to use it.

Home fromm Home.

The cottage is very comfortable. We particularly liked the coziness of the living room after an afternoon of being the tourist, coming back, closing the curtains and watching TV. The log burner/stove was welcome as our week was rainy and damp so that added to the coziness. The kitchen was well stocked with ample crockery and utensils as well as tea towells. Also lots of pots and pans and glasses. A good supply of towels and the bathroom heat rail was an extra bonus. There are many places to visit within a reasonable distance if you have a car. Also, weather permitting, a great area for walks. Settle is a lovely little town but very short on atms so go well stocked with cash. All in all, a beautiful area. Just wish I'd gone sooner.

Lovely Cottage

The cottage was as described it had a small private enclosed rear patio with table and chairs and brolly It got the sun in the afternoon The front garden was also enclosed and got the morning sun. The village is quite and the pub serves good beer and good quality pub food It only allows dogs in the outside seating area A nice house for a quiet relaxing stay

Comfortable & welcoming

A beautiful area with lots of fantastic walks and waterfalls, many accessible right from the doorstep. Situated in a pretty village with a good pub just around the corner and Stainforth Falls on the other side of the main road, the cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed; our girls particularly enjoyed 'their' space in the attic room! Vivienne was very welcoming and keen to ensure everything was in working order for us. Thank you!

Excellent Cottage In A Wonderful Location

This is a really lovely, well equipped, cottage. It has everything you need including a large wood burner with a plentiful supply of logs. The photos don’t show the shower over the bath which is spacious and powerful. The location is perfect to explore the Dales with walks from the door and easy access to places like Malham Cove, Ribblehead Viaduct. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again.

Cosy cottage

We all thought the cottage was lovely, bigger than it looked on the photos, it was quiet and peaceful, and very cosy, we met the owner and she was very nice too, couldn’t fault anything, and certainly hope to return sometime.

Great short break

Booked this last minute short break with our two dogs. The cottage is very cosy and well equipped in a lovely quiet village location. The weather was dry but cold so the log burner was very welcoming when we got back from a long walk ! There is a very nice local pub serving good food and there are some good walks on the doorstep. Settle is only a short drive (5 min) with a good selection of pubs, restaurants and shops if needed. Thank you !

Comfortable cosy cottage. Quiet location and not too far from Settle which has all the shops, cafes etc. Lots of good walks from your doorstep. Parking a problem. Beware the volcanic towel rail in the bathroom.

A superb and comfortable walking base

This quaint terraced cottage in Stainforth is perfectly situated for immediate (on foot) access to walking routes and a very short drive to Horton in Ribblesdale, Ribblehead and Helwith Bridge for access to the classic Yorkshire 3 peaks mountains and surrounding valley walks. Acces to Malham Cove/Tarn is also rapid if you use the high level minor roads and have plenty of patience to allow for passing other vehicles (take your time enjoy the views). Equally a quick 5 minutes by car south to Settle gives you easy access to food shopping (Booths/Coop) fuel and restaurants/cafes/takeaways/rail. In the village itself the Craven Heiffer serves exceptional beer and food (but it's not a late kitchen so be seated and ordered by 7.15pm is my advice). The house itself is on the small side and beware the extra 'chill space' with sofa bed and extra TV is actually on level 3 in the roof, and access is through the master double bedroom. There is no dishwasher (no space for one) so pack your Marigolds! The wifi is good but TV is small and not Netflix or Amazon enabled (clearly of zero concern if like us you are there to walk and climb not watch TV). An early MUST is the artisanal cheese and wine shopping at Courtyard Dairy - the most amazing selection of cheeses and you taste absolutely every cheese before you buy. Wines are also quality, high end and no supermarket plonk in sight.

Very good experience

Easy quick communication with the owner, who rang a day before to advise of an issue being fixed that may cross with us arriving, it didn’t, it was all sorted by the time we arrived, cottage is very well located for some from the door walks, it is comfortable and warm, all wood supplied for the burner, easy check in and out, would recommend

Having run my holiday cottage successfully now for 38 years, I have gained many new friends through returning visitors to the cottage.

I am now semi-retired and enjoy living in Stainforth.

Why they chose this property

I moved to Stainforth in the Yorkshire Dales 40 years ago and loved the area so much I decided to buy a cottage in the village and offer it as a holiday cottage to holidaymakers so they could appreciate the wonderful scenery and numerous walks in the surrounding countryside.

Stainforth is easily accessible and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of a busy town. It also provides a perfect base for touring the Yorkshire Dales and visiting the Lake District.

What makes this property unique

2 Hollies Cottages is completely pet friendly to enable visitors to take advantage of all the lovely local walks with their pets. There is no extra charge for pets, all I ask is that pet owners are responsible for their pets' behaviour whilst on holiday!

Stainforth has all amenities within 3 miles.
