Needs a thorough clean
Upon arrival we found: rubbish in the front yard, dried up cooked rice on the dining table, broken bits of flat bread in the fridge and microwave, sticky muck and crumbs on the bench, a brown liquid smeared on the floor under the dining table, grime gunked up between the tv remote buttons, toothpaste in the basin, dirty marks in the bath, the kitchen bin not emptied, an empty drink can under bedside drawers, and probably the worst find.... beside the bedside drawers were A PREVIOUS GUEST'S UNDERWEAR! Yuck.
Cups, bowls and cutlery were grimy and we had to put everything through the dishwasher before using it. There were only 4 bowls provided for 6 of us.
The fifth bed consisted of a bed base with no mattress or bedding, so it was unable to be used by anyone, which was unfortunate for the partner of the snoring guest.
I texted the host with pictures expressing my concerns that cleaning had not been done and asked for a discount for the inconvenience, but she texted back telling me she had just spent two hours cleaning the house that morning and asked me to find somewhere else to stay if the cleaning was not up to my standard. This was not possible on a long weekend at short notice so we put up with the mess.
On a positive note the toilet smelled like bleach, suggesting some cleaning was attempted. Bedding was all clean. Check-in process pretty straightforward. Heater worked well. The location was quiet and the house was large enough for two families.
