La Casa Toscana is a beautifully restored 18th century Tuscan country house located on ‘The Wine Road’ between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri.
The property has two levels:
- the bottom, where my family lives and where I teach my cooking classes.
- the top, where TWO spacious apartments, with independent entrance and both equipped with AIR CONDITIONING, are rented for holidays.

APARTMENT TORRE is located on the upper level of La Casa Toscana and it’s great for two couples or families with up to 3 kids, as there are two large bedrooms where is possible to add an extra bed.
The apartment is 90 mq (970 square feet) with a big living room 25 mq (270 square feet), a well equipped kitchen and 2 spacious bed rooms. The apartment is furnished with our family’s antique pieces to give you the same personal feeling that we have in our own home.

The apartment overlooks the medieval tower and the Tuscan countryside ending into the Mediterranean sea.
Air conditioning and wifi connection are provided for free.

THE PROPERTY: The property is dominated by the medieval village of Castagneto Carducci famous for top class vineyards, rolling hills and incredible cycling roads. It’s a perfect position for a holiday: several sandy beaches few minutes drive away, cypress-lined cycling routes, tiny villages nestled between the sea and the hills. Everything is very close even though we are in the countryside and the property is ideal for a family vacation, relaxing or an active holiday!

THE GARDEN: The property is surrounded by one hectare (1/4 acre) garden with an olive orchard, fruit trees, fresh herbs and typical plants of the Mediterranean. The garden is equipped with dining tables and chairs. In several strategic points around the garden, comfortable sitting areas have been arranged, equipped with deckchairs and armchairs, perfect for simply relaxing in complete peace and quiet. It is the ideal place to spend many magic moments with your family or friends. For fun, visit our recreational area where we have a bocce ball court and a foosball table equipped with outdoor lighting. Adults and children alike will enjoy this area and our large back lawn where all can play with our three friendly cats and loving dog. There is a parking place in the shade, very comfortable when it is hot.

THE BEACH: The beach is only 7 km away. It’s also possible to ride your bicycle to the beach through very safe country roads.

THE AREA: The village of Castagneto is reachable in twenty minutes walking from the house or 5 min driving. This quiet and charming village offers all the services (pharmacy, bank with ATM, etc.) and little restaurants to taste a delicious bruschetta served with a glass of wine from a local producer.

Donoratico, 4 km from the property, offers big supermarkets, all kind of shops and the railway station to get to the main cities (Rome, Pisa, Florence, etc.). Siena, Pisa, Florence, Volterra, San Gimignano and many other beautiful destinations are about 1-2 hours away by car, perfect for a day trip. There are few sandy beaches, and our favorite is very safe for children with shallow water for many meters.

Bolgheri, 8 km from the property, is an enchanting hamlet with bars and restaurants, for your morning coffee or special dinners.

THE WINE: We live in a wine region where some of the most famous Super Tuscan wines are produced just few km from our property. We can help you to organize a visit to world-class vineyards and cellars, learn about the prestigious Bolgheri DOC region and enjoy superb wines.

MY FAMILY: We live at the bottom level of the farmhouse and I teach Italian cooking classes. My husband lives between Chamonix and Tuscany, and he is always ready to give you all the informations to enjoy the area. We are passionate cyclists, and this area is famous for cycling. We can help you to find the perfect roads!

COOKING CLASSES: We would love you and your party to join one of our cooking classes. Our classes are completely hands-on, where you will be involved in every stage, making everything from scratch and having a great introduction to Italian culinary traditions and cuisine.

This is the perfect place for food, wine and cycling enthusiasts!

Tutto perfetto

Tutto perfetto. Soggiorno da sogno. Il posto è bellissimo e i proprietari sono gentilissimi ed i loro consigli si sono rivelati perfetti! L’appartamento è grande e spazioso e tutto funziona, il giardino ed il parco sono bellissimi e la zona in generale è perfetta. Cittadine e paesi bellissimi, spiagge meravigliose. Se avete un cane è una delle zone più accoglienti in Italia. Consigliatissimo!

Mare e borghi

Appartamento in villa con padroni di casa al piano terra e altro appartamento adiacente. Giardino immenso con tavoli e sdraio. Alcuni accorgimenti lo renderebbero più accogliente oltre che una necessaria rinfrescata. Non adatta a chi ha paura dei cani. La posizione è ideale sia per il mare che per gli splendidi borghi medievali

A wonderful time in Castagneto

Thank you very much to Chicca and her family. We had a wonderful time in their house. The apartment is nice, especially the big kitchen. The house and the garden is wonderful. We found a very warm welcome and always a good advice when we needed it.

Geräumige Ferienwohnung in guter Lage

Wir haben hier eine Woche mit unseren beiden kleinen Kindern verbracht und den Aufenthalt sehr genossen; vielen Dank Chicca! Die Wohnung verfügt über ein Schlafzimmer und ein separates geräumiges Wohnzimmer mit Schlafgelegenheit und Sofa. Alle Zimmer sind mit schönen alten Möbeln ausgestattet und waren daher sehr gemütlich. Die Küche ist mit Mikrowelle und großem Kühlschrank ausgestattet, was sehr praktisch war. Die beiden Ferienwohnungen befinden sich im Obergeschoss eines Hauses mit weitläufigem Garten mit Olivenbäumen, in dem sich morgens die Wiedehopfe tummelten, Natur pur! Abends kann man an einem Esstisch im Garten essen und die Abendstimmung genießen. Der Strand ist in wenigen Autominuten erreichbar und auch für Kinder gut geeignet. Auf dem Weg dorthin gibt es auch einen Vergnügungspark, der bei unserem Dreijährigen gut ankam und wegen der vielen Bäume auch an heißen Tagen gut besuchbar ist. Der Ort Castagneto Carducci mit Restaurants, Cafes und Bars ist ebenfalls in wenigen Minuten mit dem Auto oder auch zu Fuß zu erreichen. Wir empfehlen das Restaurant Ugo, sehr gute Küche zu moderaten Preisen. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen!

Bellissima...vi sentite a casa vostra

Siamo stati da Chicca e Arnaud 2 settimane dall'ultima di agosto ed è stato fantastico...loro sono gentilissimi e riservati e ci hanno accolto con grande calore. Chicca ci ha detto "Il giardino è a vostra disposizione...!", ed è grandissimo con ulivi, alberi da frutta, sdraio x deliziosi sonnecchi pomeridiani all'ombra, tavoli x cenare fuori. Ci sono anche una grande ed affettuosa cagnolona, e 3 bellissimi mici, il nostro preferito era il piccolo "Pinotage". L'appartamento è bellissimo, spazioso, accogliente, pulito ed arredato con particolare gusto e sensibilità, pieno di libri, riviste e cartine x visitare i dintorni che veramente meritano. In definitiva la sensazione non è di essere in una appartamento qualunque in affitto, ma Vi sembrerà di stare come a casa vostra. Grazie ancora a Chicca ed Arnaud... Ein perfekter Ort für Urlaub mit Kindern

Unser Urlaub in der Casa Toscana war genau das, was wir gebraucht haben. Zwei Erwachsene, zwei Kinder, drei Fahrräder und drei Wochen. Von Anfang an war die Kommunikation mit Chicca sehr gut und unkompliziert, sie hatte schnell und gründlich unsere Fragen beantwortet, notwendige Wegbeschreibungen geschickt. Übrigens: sie gibt auch die genauen Koordinaten des Ferienhauses an, das hat uns mit unserem Navi bis vor ihr Tor geführt. Das Haus liegt perfekt an der Strada Provinciale Bolgherese, etwa 150 Meter von der Straße entfernt, unterhalb von Castagnetto Carducci. Einige Kilometer Richtung Meer liegt Donoratico mit diversen Einkaufsmöglichkeiten (Supermarkt, Fleischer, Fischladen, Gemüse- Obstladen). Für den täglichen Einkauf von Obst und Gemüse lohnt es sich, den nahe gelegenen Obststand zu besuchen. Einfach richtung Bolgheri loslaufen, nach ca. 300 Metern sieht man auf der rechten Seite den Stand mit freundlicher Bedienung. Hier kann man auch den Müll entsorgen, es stehen Container für jede Sorte Abfall zur Verfügung. Was uns besonders gefallen hat: die freundliche und absolut hilfsbereite Gastgeberfamilie sollte an erster Stelle erwähnt werden. Chiccha und Arnauld sollten auf jeden Fall konsultiert werden, wenn man kinderfreudnliche Fahrradtouren, Wanderungen oder jegliche Art von Besichtigung unternehmen möchte. Es gibt genügend Sehenswertes auch abseits der großen Zentren wie Pisa. Ein Ausflug nach Volterra lohnt es sich auf jeden Fall. Unsere Ausflüge zum Strand (Pianetti ist die Empfehlung von Chicca) haben wir meistens mit dem Fahrrad gemeistert. Die Italiener fahren zwar schnell, aber wir hatten während der drei Wochen keine einzige gefährliche Situation. Von daher lohnt es sich, über Fahrräder nachzudenken. Die Gegend ist eine herrliche Mischung aus Flachland, Hügeln und Steigungen. Im Haus liegen diverse Tourbeschreibungen, in Donoratico gibt es einen gut sortierten Fahrradladen. Die Gastgeber selbst sind sehr erfahrene Radfahrer, übrigens. In Castagnetto Carducci gibt es eine Bäckerei, ambitionierte können morgens hochjoggen oder mit dem Fahrrad hochfahren. Sonntags hat die Alimentari offen, dort kann man Brot und Gebäck kaufen. In diesem schönen Bergdorf kann man sehr gut Essen und Trinken gehen, eine Reservierung emfpiehlt sich. Und nicht vergessen: Kochen mit Chicca ist für die ganze Familie eine tolle erfahrung, es lohnt sich dafür mindestens einen Abend Zeit zu nehmen!

Traumhafte Wohnung in traumhafter Gegend

Die Wohnung liegt in der ersten Etage eines toskanischen Landhauses und bietet einen herrlichen Blick in den riesigen Garten und nach Castagneto, das fußläufig in wenigen Minuten erreichbar ist. Mit fast 100qm ist sie ausgesprochen geräumig und verfügt über zwei Schlafzimmer und ein großes Wohnzimmer mit einer Küchenzeile sowie ein helles Bad. Die ausgesprochen hochwertige und geschmackvolle Einrichtung hat uns vom ersten Tag an begeistert. Draußen sitzen kann man auf dem überdachten Balkon direkt vor der Wohnungstür oder im bereits oben erwähnten, herrlichen Garten. Die Lage des Hauses ist ein weiteres großes Plus, da das Meer nur wenige Kilomter entfernt ist, die aber ausreichen, um dem Rummel an der Küste zu entgehen. Vom Haus weg kann man wandern oder radfahren, so dass das Auto öfter stehen bleiben kann und nur für Ausflüge zu weiter entfernt liegenden Zielen genutzt werden muss. Chicca hat uns immer liebevoll betreut und mit hilfreichen Tipps versorgt, so dass wir nichts Sehenswertes verpassen konnten. Wer diese Wohnung bucht, macht garantiert nichts falsch!

sentirsi come a casa sua

Wir waren lange nicht mehr in der Toscana, doch jetzt werden wir wieder öfter dort hinfahren, denn wir haben einen Ort gefunden, wo wir uns rundrum wohlgefühlt haben. Chicca ist eine wunderebare Vermieterin mehr noch sie ist eine hervoragende Gastgeberin. Sie ist führ ihre Gäste da. Man kann sie alles fragen auch wenn man kein Italienisch kann. Sie spricht sehr gut Englisch oder Französisch. Sie steht für alle Information, die man braucht zur Verfügung oder hilft einem seine Vorhaben umzusetzen z. B. Fahräder leihen. Das Haus liegt sehr schön in der Ebende zwischen Castagnieto und Donoratico. Es hat einen wirklich wunderschönen gepflegten Garten, riesen groß und es gibt viel schöne Plätzchen, wo man sich aufhalten kann. Tische zum draußen Essen oder Liegestühle zum Lesen und relaxen. Die Wies ist groß, so dass man auch herrlich spielen kann( für mit Kindern). Die Wohnung, wir waren im Monte, ist sehr großzügig und schön eingerichte. Mit geschmakvollen alten Möbeln, guten Betten und die Küche hat alles was man braucht, um richtig gut kochen zu können. Wir lieben die italienische Küche und so konnten wir alle leckeren Dinge jeden Abend mit Genuß zubereiten. Frisches Obst und Gemüße (sehr lecker) gab es am Stand nicht weit vom Haus an der Via Bolgherese. Das Meer ist auch nicht weit (mit dem Fahrrad sind es 20 minuten, was man unbedingt machen sollte und auch mit Chicca und Arnaud Fahrrad fahren ist umbedingt zu empfehlen, denn sie zeigen einem all die schönen kleineren Wege) und man hat die Wahl entweder mitten im Trubel in Marina di Castagneto oder etwas außerhalb zu sein. Es ist überall schön. Um diese Jahreszeit ist das Wasser allerdings noch frisch. Macht nichts, wir Deuteschen sind Kälte ja gewöhnt. Abschließend kann ich diesen Ort nur empfehlen, wenn man Ruhe sucht und doch gerne etwas unternehmen möchte und nicht zu weit vom Meer entfernt sein möchte, ist er ideal! Superbe séjour !

Nous avons passé une superbe semaine à la Casa Toscana, Belle maison au pied du village de Castagneto Carducci au coeur de la Toscane dans la très belle région viticole de Bolgheri. L'appartement spacieux et bien équipé offre une belle vue sur la campagne Toscane .. on peut même apercevoir la mer qui se trouve à 10 minutes en voiture de la maison ! Nos charmants hôtes, Chicca et Arnaud nous ont accueillis comme chez eux .. une vraie ambiance de chambre d'hôtes ! Amoureux de leur région (et on les comprend !), ils nous ont guidés et conseillés tout au long de notre séjour ! Qu'une envie .. revenir !

Perfect holiday in Castagneto Carducci

Chiccas house near Castagneto Carducci is a very nice place to make holiday in Tuscanny. There are two big flats in the first floor with which are clean, furnished aesthetically and are equipped with everything, you need for a comfortable vacation. summer holidays

Hello Chicca, hello everybody, we experienced two weeks break in a peaceful location and tranquil nature. A large beautiful garden invited us to stay several times. Chicca and her family are very friendly. We are always grateful for Chiccas helpfulness and immediate support , which we learnt to know during an unplanned hospital stay at the end. That was such a good experience that the incident could not take away our holiday mood completely. We have you in our hearts. All the best: Celine, Sven, Hubertus and Michaela

La parenthèse enchantée

Un cadre idyllique, un accueil comme à la maison. La Toscane chez Chicca nous régale de bons plans de visites, de saveurs locales et de bien-être. Si vous devez découvrir ce pays, cette région c'est LE pied a terre idéal.

Authenticité entre collines et mer

Une maison blottie au cœur de la nature Toscane, les oliviers, les pins parasols, la vigne... et à deux pas la mer. Le lieu idéal pour découvrir les villages perchés sur les collines, pour savourer la gastronomie italienne, pour faire du vélo et marcher au gré de nos envies, pour partir à la découverte de villes somptueuses comme Florence et Sienne, pour admirer la luminosité Toscane, pour côtoyer des hôtes accueillants et généreux... Nous avons aimé et nous y retournons cette année avec nos amis pour leur faire découvrir ce lieu authentique et préservé. B & Y POLLY

Schöner Radl-Urlaub in der Toskana

Wir waren zwei Wochen zum Rennradfahren in der Toskana. Die Gegend ist wunderschön und unsere Gastgeber konnten uns wertvolle Tipps geben, da sie selbst viel Rad fahren. Die Ferienwohnung Mare war für uns drei Personen grosszügig und zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Unsere Gastgeber Chicca und Arnaud haben alles getan, um unseren Urlaub angenehm zu gestalten. Und mit den cooking classes von Chicca durften wir die toskanische Küche geniessen. Wir denken, dass es nicht das letzte Mal, dass wir dort waren.

A place where you can feel at home

I spent a week at Chicca’s place in July 2014, and I had such a fantastic time there! I never experienced such a warm and genuinely friendly welcome in any other holiday place, it was like being among friends from the first minute on. I was travelling alone, and the appartment I had was really spacious, with beautiful views from all windows. Everything was meticulously clean and the kitchen was very well equipped. I love to cook and had brought lots of utensils because holiday homes usually just offer the very basics, but except for my smoothie-mixer I didn’t need to unpack anything. I spent much time in the huge garden, reading under one of the olive trees and playing ball with the super-friendly dog Janis. The walk up to Castagneto Carducci is steep but short enough and the town is lovely. I took trips to Populonia, Bolgheri and Piombino and can recommend all three places (Bolgheri was crowded already in the morning). The beaches of Marina di Castagneto can be quickly reached by car or bike. During my stay bathing wasn’t possible (red flags) because of high waves and strong wind, but I’m sure it’s lovely with better weather. Shopping is best done at Donoratico where you find big supermarkets, bakeries and also a nice wholefood store. I had an extremely happy relaxing week at Chicca’s place. I was sad when the day of departure arrived, and I’ll certainly return for another holiday.

Un magnifique séjour chez chicca

Quel plaisir de séjourner dans la jolie maison de chicca : l'appartement grand et confortable , l'immense jardin planté d'oliviers et d'arbres fruitiers, la mer a 2 pas, et surtout la disponibilité et la bonne humeur de chicca , la propriétaire de ce petit paradis en Toscane ! Tout près de la maison le magnifique village de castegneto carducci propose enotecas et trattorias, de quoi bien se régaler !

schöne ferien mit hund

Unsere Ferien waren nur eine Woche, aber herrlich! Wir sind als Familie, mit 2 Jugendlichen und unserer Labradorhündin in dem schönen Haus in toskanischem Stil gewesen. Die Räume sind sehr schön, groß und sehr gemütlich. Der Garten ist sehr groß, eingezäunt, ideal für unsere Hündin, sie hatte Auslauf, verstand sich gut mit der Hündin des Hauses, Janis....Die Eigentümerin, Iolanda, wonht unten im Haus und ist sehr freundlich und sympathisch, sie hilft bei allem, was man brauchen könnte. Das Meer ist sehr nahe, an dem es auch einen Hundestrand gibt, was wir täglich ausgekostet haben. Ansonsten gibt es auch vieles zu sehen oder zu probieren, z.B. den guten Wein aus Bolgerhi. Ich kann es nur empfehlen!! Susanne aus München

Rich in the events holidays

The spent in this beautiful place 3 weeks (14th Junу - 5th Jule 2014). We are – 6 people: 3 children (8, 4, 1.5 years old) and 3 adults. Let’s start from the beginning. Apartments: Big, clean apartment with everything you need for comfortable live during the holiday located on the second floor of the old house renovated in Tuscan style with big garden. Distant from the house to the sea approximately 5 km, we traveled by car and it took 5-7 minutes to get to the sea. Also on the way to the sea there are a supermarket, fruit store. But the most important on holidays is not only to find the right house, but to find the right hostы. In this place you can find both that and the other. Hosts ( Chicca and Arnaud) created the atmosphere that we fill yourself comfortable as we knew each other’s for ages. Chicca and Arnaud gave us usefull advices where to go, what and when to buy, eat. If you like cooking Chicca can teach you how to cook Italian dishes. House (farm ) as I wrote located 5 km from the sea. So you can enjoy silence in the evening. Children can play in the garden. By the way I forgot to made mention the DOG. It is the most kind animal in my live I ever met before. He could play with children for ages. Even I was not afraid to leave my small daughter with dog alone. So. what importance I forgot to mention? You can travel a lot. We drove 1500km with children visiting old small towns and villages feed its sight. I hope this small comment will help you to take a right decision. As for me I liked my holidays and would like to came back again. Thanks Chicca. Arnaud

Excellent and welcoming place to be ...

We a family of four (2 adults, 2 boys - age 5 and 8) from Switzerland had a great week at Chicca and Arneaud's house and enjoyed their hospitality a lot.They live downstairs and they have two holiday flats upstairs. If you like to interact with people she enjoys it too ... If not dear visitor you are left in peace but you I tell you you will miss something ... :) We felt very much at home and taken care of. She was very helpful with everything. Chicca loves to cook and if you like she will cook for you local food too. We had a really very delicious lasagne. The flats are very spacious and have everything one needs for daily life. We as well enjoyed the simple but tasteful interiors Chicca has chosen. We as well enjoyd that our two boys were very welcome and we all were welcome to make use of their huge gated garden. We as a family also made a very positive "dog experience". We are rather scared of dogs but Chicca's dog Janis is a very sweet and smart dog. Once she saw us together with Chicca in the beginning she considered us as part of the family. She never ever barked on or jumped on us or approached us in any wild way but if there was anything outside the gate passing she was alert, got up, started barking and was running there to see what or who it was.The boys loved to play with her and as well enjoyed the hammock in the shade. We had a wonderful week, would love to return and really can recommend that place and the hosts to anyone being interested to travel that region of Tuscany.

Agosto in maremma

Con un po' di ritardo, lo ammetto, mi appresto a descrivere le mie impressioni e sensazioni di questa vacanza agostana. L'appartamento, situato al primo piano di un casolare composto da due piani, è in buone condizioni. L'ambiente è ampio, semplice e curato allo stesso tempo. Richiama alla mente la fresca genuinità del suo passato contadino. L'alloggio al nostro arrivo era pulitissimo e ordinato. Abbiamo soggiornato in 5 (due adulti e 3 bambini) più che comodamente e, considerando il periodo dell'anno, non soffrendo assolutamente il caldo, dato che le spesse mura consentivano il mantenimento di una temperatura sempre accettabile. Il casolare è circondato da un largo giardino e situato nel mezzo della bellissima campagna maremmana, con vista sul paese di Castagneto Carducci situato in cima alla collina di fronte. La locazione è strategica logisticamente, infatti, pur immersa nella tranquillità della campagna, dista pochi chilometri dalla spiaggia ed è ottimamente collegata con i vicini centri abitati. Infine una nota di merito alla propritaria Chicca, sempre disponibile e sorridente, solare ed inesauribile nei consigli. Certamente ritorneremo.

A little paradise ♡

We had the most wonderful time at this charming Tuscan apartment. The space was spacious, comfortable, and located just above the hosts' home, giving it a cozy yet private feel. The hosts were incredibly welcoming, greeting us with warmth and passion for their beautiful region. They provided us with a wealth of information about the best places to visit, hidden gems, and local traditions, making our experience truly special. A highlight of our stay was participating in the olive harvest at the casa—it was an unforgettable and authentic experience. This place is truly a little paradise in Tuscany, and we can't wait to return!

Close to a nice beach

We really enjoyed the stay in the apartment and our daughter enjoyed the two dogs on the premises. Chicca was very friendly and everything just went smoothly. Would definitely recommend the location!

Sehr schöne, familäre Unterkunft in super Lage

Das Haus und seine Vermieter empfingen uns warmherzig und gemütlich. Die Wohnung bietet alles was man braucht, das dazugehörige Grundstück ist riesig mit viel Platz für alles mögliche. Die beiden Hofhunde sind ganz liebe Tiere mit einem freundlichen Charakter. Tolle Städte wie Pisa und Florenz sind nach kurzer Zeit zu erreichen und auch der Alltags Einkauf lässt sich vor Ort problemlos erledigen. Lecker Essen gehen ist für ca 70,- Eur für 4 Personen auch kein Problem.
