Shower Room: Cubicle Shower, Toilet. Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Decking. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. . This lodge is situated on the Wemyss Bay Holiday Park and is only a short stroll to the shore. Day trips can be taken to the islands of Cumbrae, Bute and Arran and are well worth the effort. Ayrshire is home to the Ayrshire Coastal Path, a 100-mile long coastal walk with one of the finest panoramic coastlines in the British Isles. Crowned with a superb backdrop of the ever-changing profile of the mountains of Arran across the Firth of Clyde, this coastline is steeped in history and teeming with wildlife, including red squirrels, deer, otters and seals and is a haven for bird watchers. Inland there are gardens and castles to visit, riding, racing and a choice of golf courses, with the world famous Turnberry and Royal within easy reach. Culzean Castle (owned by the National Trust for Scotland) is spectacular and is Ayrshire’s most popular tourist attraction. Ayrshire is also known as ’Burns’ Country’, and is steeped in tradition and history. Visit Burns Cottage, The Burns Memorial Museum and the Brig o’ Doon, the bridge from the famous poem Tam o’ Shanter. Dumfries House is just a short drive away. This 18th-century stately home is set in 2000 acres, with the architecture of Robert Adam and the furniture of Thomas Chippendale. Wemyys Bay is a great location for exploring the western coast of Scotland, local attractions include Kelburn Castle and Estate, which offers a magical mix of surprises like the secret forest, a giant’s castle or a wild west saloon, with crazy street art covering the funky exterior of the castle. Or maybe you prefer to take in the stunning scenery of the local beaches lined with colourful buildings or slide beneath the waves as you try out scuba diving. If you want shopping and nightlife then just over 50 minutes’ drive and you can be in the bustling city of Glasgow. As you would expect in Scotland, there are several top-quality golf courses within easy travelling distance or plenty of amazing walking routes.
