VILLA LA COLONICA, Luxury Tuscan Farmhouse with Pool and Staff close to Florence

Boasting uncompromised peace and privacy, La Colonica is a traditional Tuscan farmhouse with air-conditioned bedrooms, a private swimming pool and chef services for six breakfasts a week. Located 30km from Florence, this fully-staffed villa is a short drive from Tuscany’s artistic and cultural hubs, while being perfectly positioned in the wonderfully private and secluded countryside.

The villa is spread over three floors and features beamed ceilings, terracotta floors, and generously-sized luminous rooms. Interiors have been refurbished to create an extremely liveable, charming and welcoming home for families and groups of friends.

The front door of the villa takes one from a courtyard into the fully-equipped kitchen whose doors open out onto the alfresco dining terrace. In the kitchen, a central marble table offers you the space to enjoy a handful of in-house cooking experiences with your private chef. Pasta-making and ancient grain bread-making classes to name a few. You’ll also find a wine cooler in the pantry, stocked with a collection of local niche wines that can be purchased for enjoyment during your stay. Turning right from the kitchen, one accesses an elegant dining room with a table seating 12, which in turn leads into a wonderfully spacious living room whose sofas sit on either side of a grand open fireplace. The recreation room — with a full-size pool table — next door is the perfect place in which to retire and enjoy a drink and game.

The first floor is home to five spacious bedrooms; each one with glorious countryside views and air-conditioning. Three of these bedrooms come with en-suite bathrooms; the remaining two benefit from a Jack and Jill bathroom — a full-sized bathroom that is sandwiched and accessible by both bedrooms. Additionally, the first floor is also home to a smaller (nevertheless, very cosy) living room with an open fireplace where travellers can tune out when they like. Accommodation at Colonica is completed by a double bedroom and en-suite bathroom on the lower ground floor accessed via the courtyard. This 6th bedroom has private access to the gardens and a furnished terrace, where you can enjoy a little “me” time with a cup of coffee or tea. This bedroom does not have a/c.
The gated wrap-around grounds of Colonica are furnished with several shaded and sun-drenched sitting areas. Directly outside the kitchen is the main shady terrace fitted with a modern lounging and dining area. It is here where you will spend most of your time soaking up the peaceful atmosphere and enjoying meals prepared by your in-house chef with family and friends. A few steps across a paved path leads to the decked swimming pool complete with modern parasols and sun loungers.

The vibrant 4-acre gardens surrounding the villa blend with the surrounding area, planted with centuries-old oaks and chestnut trees, Mediterranean flowers and aromatic shrubs. Where the villa's fenced grounds end, acres of the estate's sunflowers begin, painting in yellow the Schifanoia valley. No stay in Mugello is complete without a visit to Barberino di Mugello, Dicomano, Firenzuola and Scarperia. Further afield, Florence is only 30 minutes by car, while Siena, Pienza, Chianti, Lucca and Pisa are all conveniently reachable in under two hours’ drive.

Services
The villa comes with daily cleaning of the communal areas, bedrooms, and bathrooms for six days a week. One linen and towel change mid-week is also included in the rental fee. The rental fee also includes daily continental breakfast for six days a week. The table is laid starting at 8AM and cleared at 10:30AM.
