Villa Torno is a small paradise nestled in an ancient quarry on the shores of Lake Como and offers unique privacy. No neighbours, no noise, the right place to stop the watch and take "your" real time.
The sunset is absolutely amazing and in summer season you can enjoy it from this side of the Lake only, while on the opposite side at 6 PM there is no sun anymore, hidden by the mountains.
From within the villa you are already immersed in the atmosphere of the lake but from the garden you have a complete and captivating view of it, day and night, in beautiful weather but also in stormy weather which gave inspiration and pleasure to the poets of the Romantic era.

The approach has been to combine historic and modern elements in a way that enhances the innate beauty of each by virtue of its contrast with the other. The house is very private and surrounded by conservation land, wood and rocks. The priority is the relationship between the inside and outside living space. All the traditional materials were used in a contemporary way.
Villa Torno is nestled in a park about 5000 square meters, with natural woods and terraced gardens surrounded by the rocks from the ancient quarry.

The restoration was done preserving the original structure and materials wherever possible. It was restructured and completed in line with contemporary tastes, system efficiency and comfort. Erika, the owner of the villa, has decorated the interior with great care, enriched it by using various pieces of her own art and by pieces of primitive art.
Villa Torno, a place of peace amid nature and the vestiges of ancient activities. This place actually was a quarry where famous local stone “pietra di Moltrasio” was extracted and used to build many stately homes and also Villa Torno.

The stone is that of the house, of the walls and the walkways.
The art permeates the location and the life of those who imagined and created it.
The poetry is that of the lake and this magical place.

The Ancient Quarry

The quarries of Lake Como have provided the stones used to build houses, palaces, churches, bridges and an infinite number of stone walls that still terrace the slopes of the Larian mountains.
The stone was brought down the hillside
on the "lizze" (wooden sledges), and the journey continued on wagons and finally they were put on the “comballi”, which were typical large sailing vessels historically used on Lake Como for the transport of heavy goods.

These large boats with square sails went down to Como
in the morning, taking advantage of the Tivano,
the mountain breeze, and they returned north in the afternoon thanks to the Breva, the valley breeze.

Villa Torno and the walls surrounding the garden were constructed and restored with stones from the quarry, which was already operating in the 17th century.

As the house is in dominant position above the charming village of Torno, to reach the property you have to pass Torno and take a narrow uphill road of about two minutes. That is why in case you are renting a car, a 4x4 type with automatic transmission is suggested.
Once you reach the property, you park inside it and you have a ramp of about 80 steps up to the Villa...the ramp to Paradise!
The ramp is indeed the 400 years old historical way of the “via di lizza” ( road of the wooden sledges), that the owner Erika proudly preserved (The wooden sledges were held with ropes that the workers wrapped around the posts that lined the path).

For this reason, VILLA TORNO IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR PEOPLE HAVING DISABILITY IN WALKING.
Luggage is not a problem as there is always someone who will bring it up to the house on your behalf.
During the winter season in the case of heavy snowfall or a storm, it's possible there will be temporary difficulties in reaching the house.

A large living room with sliding glass doors that lead out onto an adjoining terrace and a breathless lake view.

The kitchen is in the old stone part with a fireplace.

4 bedrooms , two of them (ROMANTICA and ROCCE) with their en-suite bathroom and two (CAVA and TRAMONTO) sharing one bathroom, for max 6 people: master bedroom ROMANTICA with king size bed, bedroom CAVA with king size bed, remaining two bedrooms TRAMONTO and ROCCE can be prepared either with twin beds or king size bed, according to guest's requirement.
The house is equipped with free Wi-Fi, satellite LG OLED TV 55" ThinQ AI -billion rich colors - 4K cinema HDR - Dolby atmos cinema screen with Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming service, decoder, DVD and Hi-Fi System with bluetooth connection.
Your favorite music on your mobile playlist can be listened to in the house by simply connecting the mobile by Bluetooth to the Hi-Fi System.
In the basement, there is at guest's disposal a relax area with a unique bio sauna, located among the local rocks found during the restoration works. The bio sauna permits adjusting the percentage of humidity, choosing to have a typical hard dry Finnish sauna or a Turkish bath.

Enjoy the new unique outdoor pool, with jets, size 13x4 mt and the terrace with hot/cold water shower and relaxation area.
Take a moment of relaxation for the body and the mind, an alternative appetizer with the friends or a glass of wine enjoying the romantic lake sunset view.

The pool is closed from November, 1st to March 31st.

Torno is a really charming village that stretches into the lake with its rocky promontory.
It has maintained the forms of the ancient village in the narrow streets, the simple houses, the small and big churches, the characteristic fountains and the small square on the lake, it's called the little Portofino of the Como Lake.

It is about 5 km from Como and 15 km from Bellagio. It is very pleasurable to move around by public boats or simple walking in order not to miss the picturesque panoramic points that offer views of the villages, of the lake and of the mountains.

Please note that the reservation is personal, therefore the owner has to be informed IN ADVANCE by mail or text in case of change in the name of the guests staying at Villa Torno as well as in case of new guests / friends joining for even one or more nights.A copy of the personal document shall be provided.

Please inform the owner if you have kids under 12 years.

Please inform the owner in advance if you have pets, an extra fee could be applied.

The owner shall be informed in case of events or parties before confirming the reservation and shall give her authorization.

Tourist tax and stamp duty are included in the renting price.
