Stay in San Juan

Loved the house. It is even better in person than in pictures. The view is amazing. All the staff was super nice. It was clean and well taken care of. However, we did not find extra trash bags, so the cleaning was a little difficult to do. But besides that, I would definitely rent it again.

The view and the seclusion of the house Are the best features of the property.

While the house has a lot of potential to be a comfortable and charming villa, it disappointed in many areas: the entire house is in desperate need of a thorough cleaning that has not happened in a long time. The kitchen is poorly equipped with chipped and broken dishes and pots. The house is sparsely furnished and feels like the decor is only half acquired. Being unfenced we had to deal with the neighbour's unleashed pit bull in a daily basis. The 20 minute walk to town of $20 taxi ride made the house both difficult for small children and expensive. The view, the pool and the very helpful property manager - Elezier helped to compensate for the other deficiencies. We would not return to Oli Mar, but LOVED Nicaragua and its people.

Family Holiday

My wife and I and our daughter, son in law and 2 grandchildren stayed for 2 weeks. Normand was great in responding to any questions I had and arrange transportation from the airport to the house. The house is lovely overlooking a beautiful bay. The Location is about a 20 minute walk to beach access down a fairly steep hill. You need a car or motor bikes to get around. We rented motorbikes. Eliezer our caretaker was wonderful in showing us around and arranged transportation before we got bikes to wherever we wanted to go and made suggestions on what to see. The house badly needed screens as it was very windy every day and a lot of bugs blew in when we kept the sliding doors open. I understand that screens were installed after we left. The furniture also needed replacing and I Eliezier was going to shop for new outdoor and indoor furniture. There is no wardrobe in the master bedroom so you will have to put all your clothes on a bench. Please make sure you lock up the house and don't leave it open. The cook Felicita was great but our appetites couldn't do her cooking justice. We simply couldn't eat the amount she cooked so we cut down on the amount of times she cooked for us. Overall I would recommend this property to anyone wanted a place to stay. We had a wonderful holiday.

Lovely views excellent distance to town. Quiet and serene.

Casa Olimar was one of the great places we have stayed. The house was clean and spacious. The sun in the mornings and evenings were magnificent. Pacific Marlin subdivision is quiet and high end. The short distance to town made everything so much better. We would enjoy our days and come back to the beautiful house on top of the ocean to relax and power down from our busy lives back home. By far one of the best vacations ever.

Incredible views

This home is beautifully built with amazing views of the ocean. There is a lovely breeze that comes up in the early evening to cool things down. The owner Norman was extremely helpful with all our questions prior to arrival and really helpful with any concerns during our trip. Elizier, the caretaker, was what made our trip a 5 star vacation! He is extremely helpful, friendly and spoke great English. He made sure we saw and did everything! The home is placed on top of the hill so you get the great views, but you really need a vehicle. It is a very steep long hill to walk up in the heat! We rented motorcycles as the roads are extremely safe; everyone is very respectful. You must hire Felicita for some or all of your meals! She is an amazing cook and so friendly. We even went home learning a few new recipes! San Juan Del Sur is a great town with loads of restaurants, shops, beaches around and fun activities. The people are all friendly and the town is totally safe. On our trip all the furniture in the living room, dining room, and outside was worn and needed to be replaced. This was quite a disappointment for us. However by your vacation it should all be replaced as Elizier said he got the approval from Norman to replace everything. My only other recommendation is the home needs a deep clean. Overall our trip was wonderful but as most vacation its due to the people!

Exactly what pictures showed: Paradise in SJDS with easy access to town and several beaches

From booking to arrival and departure everything was smooth, easy and prompt. We never had to ask for information as Normand readily provided all we needed to know in advance. He also facilitated us hiring Felicita to cook for us. Great decision! She cooked all our meals, bought groceries and cleaned kitchen after so we could enjoy our stay even more. We ended up renting a vehicle, but if we hadn't, Normand could've booked transportation to/from airport as well. Eliezer, the caretaker went above and beyond by helping us with a couple of car rental issues and directions. He also provided information on activities we could do nearby. The house was just as described in the pictures. We enjoyed the pool and the outdoor space everyday! The house has amazing, breathtaking views from all rooms and outdoors space. If there was one suggestion, it would be to provide hand soap in bathrooms and to add closet/drawer space in the master bedroom. My husband and I have stayed in hotels and homes all over the world and this home rental experience was one of the best ones we have had. Our three elderly Nicaragua native aunts also had a great time! Overall, we had an outstanding experience and would highly recommend this property! We only wish our stay could've been extended. Casa Olimar is a private paradise in SJDS!

I stayed at Casa Olimar with some friends for 4 nights in April 2016 and used the home as a home base while exploring San Juan del Sur and neighboring beaches Playa Maderas and Playa Hermosa. The sunsets are incredible from the frontward and pool with an unobstructed view of the pacific horizon. The infinity pool was a lifesaver after a hot day of hiking or exploring. The location is close enough to town that you can walk or take a taxi. The houses caretaker was super friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding areas. He was able to make recommendations for dinner, places to visit and even helped us arrange reservations and taxis for several other cities in Nicaragua. The owner was very pleasant to deal with as well and we were given very clear instructions and information well in advance of our arrival. I highly recommend staying at Casa Olimar for your visit to San Juan del Sur.

One of our best beach experience for a long time!

First, Nicaragua is a great surprise. You feel safe, people are pleasant, easy going and very welcoming. In general and in particular at San Juan del Sur, the food is excellent. We all felt "light", healthy. I don't know if this is herbs, quality of ingredients but this is one of the great aspect of San Juan. It is cheap (easy to eat for $5 and dring for the same), the beaches around (Hermosa, Madeiras, Mayagual) are as close to paradise as it gets. The house is just outstanding...the view, the pool. It is spacious, well located in a gated community. Even when it is really warm, there is a gentle breeze and you can enjoy the terrace regardless of the temperature. You can hire a cook (felicita) and a chauffeur (Byron) both great people, friendly and great at what they do. You will love the place!

Great experience!!

I was a bit skeptical about renting a home in san juan, but say no more from the time i booked the house with Claudia to the very end, Claudia very nice great costumer service very professional and Eliesar the house care taker he was just awesome, we will definitely go back next year to oli mar villa.

Beautiful luxurious home on the hills of San Juan del sur

I loved the house location - it provided the most beautiful view of the ocean. It was quiet to enjoy a prívate barbq and it was close enough to San Juan del Sur to drive down for a coffee and dessert. Thank you Norman

Best 4 days of my Nicaragua trip

The house was great, just like the pictures. The view was beautiful. The homeowner was very helpful and quick to respond emails. The helper that was waiting in the home was very helpful and gave good recommendations for beaches and things to do. Our experience was great and would highly recommend.

Casa Olimar

Casa Olimar was a beautiful property situated in the outlying hills of San Juan del Sur Nicaragua. From the moment we arrived, property manager Eliezer made us feel at home and was always available to help us if we needed a quick ride to town, some information, or something planned. The house has all the amenities one would need for some time away from home and the sunsets are breathtaking. I highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a combination of luxury, value and proximity to SJDS. Thank you Normand and Eliezer!

Great Time!

I stayed at the house earlier this month for a few days with family members we all loved it! House was spacious and we all were able to sleep comfortably. We had rented a car so we were less than 10 mins away from San Juan Del Sur. The caregiver of the house was nice and helpful. I would definitely stay here again! The only thing I would like to recommend is putting screen doors on the main level so the guest can have the doors open to let some air in and not worry about flies/mosquitoes/etc. coming in other than that place was amazing!

Wow !

I stayed at casa olimar for 4 days with 5 of my friends, it was a great spot to start our trip, we all had our room and private luxury bathroom. Wake up in the morning, go on the balcony and just gaze at the view, then jump in the pool. In the morning , we always went to SanJuan by walk, took us 20 minutes to get downtown SanJuan. I would say it's the perfect combinaison of proximity to SanJuan and awsome view and you live in a palace ! Moreover, The manager of the place gave us some great advises, we could even hire a cooker and driver for cheap. Anjoy !
