This lovely apartment is nicer than any of the hotels in the area and as nice or nicer than most B&Bs. For the same price (or less in some cases) as the aforesaid you get more space and comfort. The living room /kitchen area is large: a comfortable sofa, armchair, small desk and a huge TV define the living area which is separated from the kitchen further by a half wall. There is a table that seats four and the most adorable yet functional small kitchen that is completely equipped for man and beast( we didn’t have to unpack the dog’s dishes), including pod and French press coffee, plus all variety of beverage glasses. The separate bedroom is spacious: a very comfortable queen bed (with nice linens), nightstands WITH DECENT READING LIGHTS on both sides, a chest of drawers, a dressing table and a good size closet (hotel type amenities inside in case you forgot your robe or slippers ). The bathroom is clean and nice.
This is not some randomly put together basement apartment. Clearly a lot of thought went into its construction, and quality materials and finishes were used; no short cut hollow doors or cheap plumbing fixtures. The unit is very tastefully decorated with eclectic pieces and art, not looking like stuff that didn’t fit into the main house, but like pieces that were chosen to complement the space.
Add to this the fact that the apartment and the neighborhood are totally dog friendly. Also, downtown Asheville shops and restaurants are a less than five minute walk. The All Day Darling cafe is a block away.
The owners are very nice and are right upstairs if you need them but are not intrusive. We did hear them moving around, but not problematically. We have visited Asheville quite a bit over the years and so far this stay gets highest marks !
