In 2009 we built our own houseboat, a dream that came true. To wake up in the morning with the reflection of the sunlight on the surface of the water and hear the water birds singing is a unique way to live within the city. To share with you the experience and feeling of living on a houseboat in the canals of Amsterdam, we created a stylish and comfortable bed and breakfast on our houseboat. We are very proud of the result and would like to welcome you on our BedonBoard.
The BedonBoard is a beautiful light room with adjacent private bathroom in a new, spacious and modern houseboat. The room is located on a quiet walkway near the Westerpark and at 500 meters from the Jordaan.
The room has a comfortable king-size bed (1.80 x 2.10), a modern bathroom with private toilet, shower. There is a fridge, a water boiler and a coffee maker. You can also sit outside the B&B on the terrace at the entrance.
BedonBoard is located 500 meters from the heart of the Jordaan, in the historic center of Amsterdam. The Jordaan is an area full of small restaurants, terraces, fun shops alternating with beautiful canals, small streets and with a variety of wonderful historic buildings. The Jordaan borders on the well-known shopping area the Negen Kleine Straatjes (literally: Nine Little Streets) were you can also find many small shops and cozy restaurants.
Within walking distance you will find highlights like the Anne Frank House, the Westertower, the Dam square, the Royal Palace and the Amsterdam Historic Museum. BedonBoard is easily reachable by car and public transport (see below under “Accessibility”), but once you're here, the easiest means of transportation is by bicycle (see tab “Bicycle rental”).
The BedonBoard is a 10 minutes walk from the nicest shopping street in Amsterdam (and awarded second best shopping street of the Netherlands 2011): Haarlemmerdijk and about 15 minutes from Central Station or the Leidseplein.
It is a mere 500 meters walk North to the beautiful, and recently fully renovated Westerpark, also known as the “Culture Park” of Amsterdam. In Westerpark you will find a classic Victorian style park section, a large center section for cultural events and a more rugged part with trails for walkers or runners. Centrally located in the park you will find the Espressofabriek with simply the best coffee Amsterdam has to offer. Enjoy a superb breakfast in the nearby Bakkerswinkel. Every Sunday of the month there is a farmers market in the park. If you're looking for something very close to the BedonBoard, we recommend the Paviljoen.
In summary, a peaceful but central location in a nice neighborhood in Amsterdam.
ACCESSIBILITY:
From the airport you can take a train to central station (20 min). From there you can either walk (20 minutes), take a cab (approximately € 13) or take bus 21 (less than 10 minutes).
To take bus 21. When you arrive at Central Station, exit on the city side (main Exit). Take bus nr 21 and get off after 5 minutes at the stop “van Beuningenplein”. At the other side of the street you will see a large square with a play garden: the “van Beuningenplein”. Take the road left of this square (Tweede Keucheniusstraat) and follow 150 meters to the very end. You are in front of your BedonBoard!
When you decide to come by car. You can park your car almost always in front of the BedonBoard. However, Amsterdam is not very “car friendly” as the city charges rather high rates for parking. Alternatively, go to Park and Ride Amsterdam for cheaper parking options. The Park and Ride that is closest to us, is the “P+R Sloterdijk”. The cost for Park and Ride is € 8 per day. They offer return tickets for public transport free of charge.
