Looks can be deceiving

The apartment was fairly well appointed with necessary kitchen, bathroom & bedroom supplies. It does look stylish and modern. However, there are problems with the apartment. The main issues were the lack of heat in the apartment and the bad location.The water heater is not "on demand" but rather a 20 gallon (1/2 size) water tank. It is not sufficient for 4 adults to all shower in the morning. The wall heater unit in our bedroom did not work at all and the heater in the other bedroom barely warmed up. The host did respond quickly and came by on the second day - to tell us that the heater was indeed broken and it would take 15 days to get the replacement. No heater was supplied for the remaining 2 days.The apartment is outside of the central tourist area, not far from the restaurants etc. but certainly not in a touristy area. There were street workers (ladies of the ...afternoon) on the street. I was propositioned twice by different women. We did not feel unsafe in the day time, but we only went out in the evening once because our spouses did not feel safe. There were also several fights in the alleys/streets each night, with yelling and occasionaly police. We saw at least one drug deal take place each day. Since it was not the kind of location we wanted to walk through, we ended up spending a lot of money on Ubers to come and go quickly.The road in front of the apartment is paved in cobblestones and this made for a lot of noise when traffic went by.

Good, but could have been a bit better...

The apartment itself is quite charming and was very clean. We did have some initial check-in communication problems with the host due to having the wrong telephone number (we had to contact VRBO to get things straightened out), but after that got sorted out it was fine. The dishwasher was not in working condition so that was a disappointment (needs fixing or replacing). Also, we had problems with the oven a couple of times where the heating element would turn off on its own (turning the circuit breaker on and off seemed to fix the problem for awhile). There is some street noise, as others have mentioned, but we didn't find it that bad. More notable is the major apartment building reconstruction taking place next door - there was quite a bit of construction noise during the day. Lastly, there are a few "businesses" close to the apartment - one a few doors down on the same side of the street, and the other a few doors down on the other side. The ladies didn't bother us, but others may not feel comfortable with that type of activity nearby. Again, good, but could have been a bit better.

Das appartement toll ausgestattet, mega Lage,alles fußläufig erreichbar. Der check in sehr persönlich und hilfsbereit. Bei Fragen immer erreichbar. Toll! Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Great stay in Porto

This apartment is beautiful with all the amenities, the hosts are helpful and kind, and the location is perfect. It’s a great space to go to at the end of a long day. It’s lovely.

Beautiful contemporary apt with large terrace

The apartment was on the second floor of an older building, but was easy to get up the stairs. Once you do, it's beautiful! Totally remodeled, 2 bedrooms, large kitchen with full size fridge and washing machine. Large sitting room with tv and dining room with table and chairs. The highlight is the terrace which is exactly as shown in the pictures and it is private. Just make sure not to close the sliding door when you go out as it locks from the inside! I do agree with a previous review that the noise from the street goes on all night, if you're a light sleeper you may need to move to the sofa as I did. Great location, walked everywhere in Porto and convenient to 2 metro stations. We walked to the market most mornings. Good, local restaurants very close by, no need to go too far for a delicious meal! The only thing that may be offputting is that there are at least 2 doors ways, 1 across the street and 1 a few doors down that "ladies of the night" do business from. They are there day and night, which was a little off putting, but they did not bother us. Oh and there is construction next door,,, the walls were ripped out and you could see in from the terrace. Noise started at 8am and went until 5pm during the week. We weren't home during those times so it was no bother but looks like it could go on for a while. All in all, a beautiful place within walking distance to all Porto has to offer, highly recommend!

Lovely clean and spacious unit. Very responsive host.

The place was great inside but the outdoor noise level was loud pretty much all night and into the morning both Sunday and Monday nights we stayed there. There were two or three places that drew people to the street and we didn’t feel safe.

A short walk to the centre of the city. V well equipped possibilly with the exception of the toaste

Excellent flat and good location. Clean, very well equipped kitchen except for the toaster. Building works next door caused a problem as a huge amount of drilling was going on behind the party wall.

Well equipped and stylish apartment with private terrace.

Convenient location for metro and all tourist sites. Well equipped with everything needed for a stay. Check in really worked well for us. The only downside for us was the traffic and general street noise at night (but as country dwellers we aren't used to that so urban visitors would probably not find it an issue!). An enjoyable stay in a vibrant, friendly city.

Nice Apartment - Good Location - Busy Street

The photos and description are accurate. It is a very nice apt. Outdoor patio is wonderful. From front entrance on the street it is 20+ steps up a winding staircase to apt. Porto is far from level so many steep ups and downs but definitely walkable to many attractions. We also used Uber which was easy. Bolhao Open Air Market is about a 9 minute walk and there is a nice grocery store just a block away so super convenient. Very good restaurants nearby. Though only a block long the street is very busy and traffic noise can be an issue even very late at night. No a/c so nice to leave windows open but then traffic noise becomes a bigger problem. Not a big deal but the dishwasher wasn't working. The owner was away when we arrived but he sent a nice young man to meet us so checking into the unit was very smooth. Could have used more instructions on the use of the stove and washing machine but other than the traffic noise the apartment was great. If we return to Porto we would definitely consider staying here again.

Eine wunderbare Woche in Porto im Mai 24

Wir wurden sehr nett von Jeronimo in der Wohnung empfangen, uns wurde die Wohnung gezeigt und erklärt, wo wir was in Porto unternehmen können und wo wir einkaufen können und uns Restaurantempfehlungen gegeben. Die Wohnung entspricht der Beschreibung, die ausgesuchte Einrichtung und Ausstattung und die großzügige Terrasse hat uns sehr gefallen. Die Küche ist mit allem ausgestattet, wir haben gerne hier gekocht und uns zuhause gefühlt. Unweit haben wir einen großen Supermarkt und einen Obst/Gemüsemarkt gefunden. Die Lage ist ziemlich zentral, nahe bei einer Metrostation und in ca. 15 Minuten erreicht man die touristische Altstadt zu Fuß. Porto ist eine laute Stadt, überall wird gebaut und auch im Nachbarhaus zur Wohnung. Wir empfehlen Ohrstöpsel um ungestört ausschlafen zu können. Wir hatten einen sehr angenehmen Aufenthalt und kommen gerne wieder, und bedanken uns herzlich bei unserem Gastgeber!

The apartment was superb in every way. Beautifully furnished with top quality furnishings and fittings, and right in the centre of Porto, with all attractions within walking distance. L’appartement est parfait , lumineux, propre , confortable . Nous avons été accueillis chaleureusement par Sandra . Seul problème il donne sur une rue très bruyante la nuit et n’est pas insonorisé . C’est vraiment dommage .

Great Apartment

Apartment has everything you need for a short or long stay in Porto. Host was excellent. Met us at the apt and explained everything as well as providing an overview of the neighborhood. Metro stop is a close 5 minutes away and easy connections to everywhere. Bedrooms front on a busy street so if a light sleeper that might be an issue. Overall a great place to stay in Porto.

Absolut empfehlenswert! Immer wieder!!!

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt in dem Appartment. Spitzenmäßig ist die Terrasse! Mitten im Wohngebiet die Möglichkeit, bei schönem Wetter sich draußen aufzuhalten. Die Lage ist unübertrefflich: fußläufig eine Menge kleinerer und größerer Restaurants, Weinbars, Kneipen...Vom Flughafen mit der Metro und dann 5 Minuten zu Fuß - dann ist man in dem Appartment. Großer Supermarkt 3 Minuten zu Fuß.Vielen vielen Dank an Jeronimo und seine Mitarbeiterin - wir werden uns sicherlich wiedersehen!!!
