Dichtbij het historische centrum van Porto en de portwijnkelders, in een rustig vissersdorpje, in de buurt van de rivier, de zee en de stranden. Men kan genieten van de natuur en het toerisme en toch dichtbij de belangrijkste toeristische en historische bezienswaardigheden van Porto zijn.

Het huis werd gebouwd rond 1930 en werd gerenoveerd in 2013. Het is een typisch huis op een locatie met een bevoorrecht uitzicht over de rechteroever van de rivier de Douro en de stad Porto. Gelegen in Afurada, een klein vissersdorpje in Vila Nova de Gaia, op loopafstand van het historische centrum van Porto en Porto wijnkelders.

Op korte afstand van de jachthaven van Douro en in de buurt van het natuurreservaat Douro-estuarium, gelegen aan de zuidoever van de rivier. Het reservaat is de plek voor de schuilplaats en het nestelen van veel vogels. Een perfecte plek voor vogelaars en natuurfotografen. Er zijn veel restaurants, kleine supermarkten en bakkerijen in de omgeving.

deze cottage ligt aan het water in de wijk São Pedro da Afurada in Vila Nova de Gaia. Reizigers die graag willen cultuursnuiven kunnen een kijkje nemen bij Casa da Musica en wie liever gaat winkelen kan bij Livraria Lello en Bolhão-markt terecht. Nice place, convenient parking, breakfast close by

The keys took us a bit to figure out but once we had it sorted it was fine. The bedrooms are quite tiny, so no room for luggage but we managed fine. Great little cafe at the end of the block where we enjoyed breakfast. Easy parking close by. Would book again!

Great Riverside Location!

We really enjoyed our stay. The bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs which wasn’t the optimal arrangement, but the villa is adorable! We loved the table and chairs on the sidewalk and met several friendly passersby. Great property manager even loaned us her umbrella! Thanks for a nice stay!

Charming Neighborhood

This is a lovely property in a charming neighborhood outside of “downtown” Porto. It was nice to be a bit removed from the main tourist hub, and there are free parking lots if you are traveling by car. Comfortable for our family of 4–2 adults and 2 teens. We walked into Porto which made for a fun, sight-filled day.

Authentic fisherman's cottage

We particularly enjoyed staying out of the city in a relatively peaceful setting. Local, fresh fish restaurants were plentiful and reasonably priced and all in easy access. City centre is easily accessible either a picturesque walk by the river or by Uber which was cheaper for us than public transport. There were 2 shops and a bakery on the door step. It was a perfect sized place for our family of 4. It would be too small for any more in my opinion. Overall an enjoyable stay and hopefully we experienced a little bit of 'old style Portuguese life'.

Family stay in Porto

Great location, easy walk along the river to Porto (45mins), bakery on the corner was great and would make ham and cheese rolls to take with you (very cheap). The house is good, has everything you need (no oven, dishwasher or washing machine as stated). Very quiet neighbourhood, friendly people around and some good fish restaurants - highly recommend the one opposite bakery, had queues of customers every evening so go early

Post Francés Way Santiago Stay

Nestled in the lovely Giai side neighborhood, one can enjoy the culture and food of the residents. There was a school concert in the square on Sunday. There is a lovely bakery just 1/2 block away. The Ocean is about a 1.5 mile walk away. The bridge to cross into Porto is 2.5 mile walk. The boardwalk in both directions is beautiful. The people are friendly and the food is superior.

Charming home in Vila Nova de Gaia

A charming fisherman’s house on the Vila Nova de Gaia side of the Douro. While the bedrooms are small, they are functional. The house was clean and equipped with basic amenities. Maria and Jorge were excellent hosts. They were in regular contact prior to arrival so checking in was a breeze. Maria came prepared with a map and recommendations for our 2.5 days in Porto. The view of Porto at night from The south side of the Douro is incredible. Recommend this property!

Very pleasant stay

My wife and I enjoyed our stay in this property. The description is accurate. Owners Maria and Jorge are very hospitable and kind and provided great welcome and ideas of activities and sites to see. We just stayed at 6 different properties in the last month and this was among the best. House is authentic home in a fishing neighborhood among real people. Not other tourists. Nicely decorated and equipped for the price. Parking was not a problem and getting to Porto easy. Several seafood restaurants in walking distance. Nice trail along waterfront to walk, run bike. We came beginning of Oct and temps were still warm so no heat or ac needed.

Great character, great value

This house is in the heart of the fishing community of Afurada and is quite unlike most tourist rentals in Porto. The house itself is full of character as are the streets and the river just 1 minute away from the front door. Owners,Jorge and Maria, have been very good to deal with and while it's not luxurious there is everything you need and everything works. A car is not essential but very useful and there is free on street parking all around. You see the daily life with sardines being grilled in the street and a vibrant local community using the streets as places to live in. The heart of Porto is easy to get to and no more than 10 minutes by car or a 35 minute walk. Local cafes and restaurants are inexpensive and good to experience while there are two big shopping centres within a five minute drive. We really enjoyed the stay and it will be a holiday we remember for a long time.

perfekter Standort

Die Wohnung hat eine perfekte Lage. Man ist zu Fuß in ca. 40 Minuten bei den Portweinkellern und der Brücke nach Porto. Immer entlang des Flusses. Supermarkt und Restaurants in direkter Nachbarschaft. Auch die Einheimischen gehen dort hin. Die Wohnung erstreckt sich über 2 Etagen. Wobei wir unsere Koffer unten im Esszimmmer gelassen haben. Sie waren zu schwer für die steile Treppe. Der Kontakt zur Vermieterin war sehr nett. Also alles wunderbar.
