Dit huis aan zee kijkt uit over het zandstrand van Scratby, nr. Caister. Gelegen op een klif met toegang via een privé weg. Toegang tot het strand is via een zandstrand voetpad 100 meter van de bungalow, met oplopende toegang tot 500 meter. Twee dubbele slaapkamers - een met een queensize tweepersoonsbed - en een kleine slaapkamer met drie stapelbedden. Woon / eetkamer met TV / DVD, WiFi, 2 banken en een eettafel voor 5 personen. Keuken met oven, magnetron, wasmachine, koelkast met vriesvak. Doucheruimte en entreehal. Badkamer met douche en keuken worden opnieuw ingericht in oktober 2017. With only a few changes this would make this property 💯 better

Location was amazing with sea views from the windows, it was such a shame the pvc patio doors looking out to sea had broken sealed units making that perfect view spoilt! The place is very cosy with portable heaters keeping the place nice and warm. Kitchen was equipped with adequate cooking tools. Bed wasn’t very comfy but we are very fussy with our beds so possibly ok for others however when we stripped the bed upon leaving it revealed wee stains on the mattress topper and duvet which I reported to the owner for her to take up with her cleaners but I have to say it wasn’t very nice to think we had been sleeping on top of that all week! The place is a little tired in parts, The walk down to the beach is very close but if you have any mobility issues the path could be a problem however round the corner there is a ramp down to the beautiful long beach which is incredible. It’s very dark at night with no street lights so some lighting around the outside of the property would be helpful too. The outside back area was nice and secure for the dogs but the front was open.

Wonderful setting

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend, the setting is just wonderful, beautiful view and within easy walk down on to the beach. at the end of the road there is a convenience shop, bit further down there is a chippy and we enjoyed sunday lunch at Whites lounge bar, 10 minute walk away. As for the property, we found everything to be as described, good size rooms, beds were comfortable, well equipped kitchen and the communication with the owner, Kathryn, when we needed to ask a question was responded to quickly and very helpful. We will certainly look to return, hopefully next year but will make it a bit longer. One word of caution, when turning into Promanade Drive, be careful of the road surface, there are many deep holes on the unmade road, drive very slowly, but this was the only concern we had.

Peaceful getaway

Lovely place to have a peaceful break with our dog. A few things could do with replacing such as blinds and curtains but once you see the stunning view then these things are forgotten about. Just a short walk to the beach and some good places to eat nearby too. Would definitely stay again.

Not what we expected

We arrived after a 15 hours drive and the toilet didn´t work. We tried to phone with the host and wrote a mail but we didn´t get any answer. My husband repaired the toilet makeshift. We were there with six persons and there was no tabel where we could eat together. Fortunately the weather was fine so that we could eat outside. There were spiders everywhere and for six persons there was definitely not enough space. For us it was a kind of garden hut. The only thing that was great was the sea view.

Peace and quite

I loved this place. Yes there was afew things that could be done to the place. The days given for putting out bins need up dating. Hoover didnt pick up Drain outside overflow But its so peaceful and in walking distance to shops etc in Scratby and didnt think we would be able to walk through to Hemsby with the trouble they have had with paths and cliff falls but found another way to walk which only took 8mins . Would i stay again? Yes i would.

Sorry not for me

I'm sure everybody has different hopes for a holiday rental , my family and I have done this many times in this area. This was a short work break alone ( apart from my little dog ), unfortunately after the initial pleased impression of the kitchen and shower room , the rest of the property was not what I hoped for , sorry to say that but in my thoughts it needs a lot of work to décor and ceilings to make it match the lovely entrance through back door , also unfortunately hit and miss Wi-Fi so I only stayed one night as I couldn't work as needed. As I say each person has their own hopes for a rental , This was not what I was hoping for , nor would I book again or recommend. I am disappointed for me and my dog, I lost our mini break and in my opinion lost my money, also wasted time and diesel travelling from and then back to Kent in two days. Please believe I mean no offence with this review, I'm just being honest , the position of the bungalow is so close to the beach , it was a stormy the night I did stay and I could feel the sea air throughout the place and ceiling tiles. I hope it gets the attention it deserves, it could be nice and worth renting if it did.

Norfolk Beach Stay

The location of this property was fabulous and has sea views from the front of the property. We took our dog and it was straight out onto the grassy area in front of the property and a short walk down to the beautiful beach. Fabulous amenities a short distance from the property which included bakery, grocery shop, restaurant, bar and fish and chip shop. The property itself was a disappointment. Despite being the end of May the property was cold, damp and had a musty smell in the bedrooms. The largest of the bedrooms was very damp and I noticed my clothes feeling damp at the end of the week. Very tired decor throughout, with wall paper peeling off and polystyrene ceiling tiles that threatened to fall off during the stay. Lovely kitchen however. With the exception of the kitchen window we couldn't find the keys to open the other windows to let some air in which was desperately needed in the bathroom. There were 5 of us in the party and the property sleeps 6/7, however there was only a small dining table with 4 chairs. This meant we couldn't all sit at the table for dinner or to play games. The patio doors that see out to the front/sea views were discoloured, the seals were gone so the glass needs replacing. If it wasn't for the location we would have been very disappointed with this property.

we have been coming to the east coast since 2004 and we love it and have seen so many changes. Staying at Scratby was our first and we loved it. Relaxing and sea views , what more could you ask for.

Filthy accommodation

I made the mistake of booking before I read the reviews! Please read other reviews before you book or your trip will be spoiled. We couldn’t stay here because it was so dirty and grubby, although the host refunded our money straight away, it did spoil the start to our short weekend away as we had to find somewhere else very quickly. I’m surprised this bungalow is still allowed to be rented out in the dirty state it’s in. Dead flies, grubby floors, kettle was full of BROWN scale, couldn’t use it at all, the rug was filthy, the tap is hanging off in the kitchen, I could go on. If I could add the photos I would, even though previous people have left feedback the hosts have done nothing about it which tells me they don’t care. These hosts don’t deserve anyone staying at their property!! Steer clear you will be disappointed!!

Amazing outlook

We love love love the location. The accommodation could do with a makeover. Amazing views but windows are misted, desperately need replacing, hinder view across the beautiful outlook of the green and the sea. We stayed at easter time and kitchen tap needed repairing but has not been sorted. Rusty tin opener was a concern, left a note for replacement. Rug in living room badly stained, curtains mouldy. It is the views and location that draws us back, and yes we will return despite its faults.

Holiday

The location of the property is absolutely stunning with beautiful views overlooking the sea.The back yard is uneven under foot , cobbles and slabs and could do with weeding .On entering the property instantly we could tell we would need the clean thoroughly as there was spiders and cobwebs everywhere ,sand and debris in the cupboards.And to top it off there was a blood stain on the duvet cover along with other plumbing issues which was reported but no action taken. The bungalow needs a lot of TLC but we made the best of it once we had cleaned thoroughly. Scratby is a lovely place to stay with some amazing restaurants in the surrounding areas.

Good value, great location, but.......

Good value, great location, but....... beware of the road its on. Its a private road in BAD condition. the bumps and holes have an 12-18inch variation and you need a 4x4 to go down the road safely. As instructed, join the road from Beach Road to avoid the worse of the holes. Make sure you bring towels, tea towels, bath mat (yes a bath mat), condiments, washing up stuff etc as there are none. the shower is just awful. Run around to get wet. Apart from all that, its well worth the money, lovely location atop of the beach, great beds, comfy sofas, nice sun trap back patio area. I wish i could go again, but not with the road in that condition, i just cant risk the damage it could cause under the car.

Views straight to the sea

The property is exactly as described. It is naturally quite chilly (at new year!!) but there are heaters provided everywhere which warm the place up really quickly so you can still feel cosy the whole time while looking out over the sea. We saw seal pups on walks along the beach and really didn't need to use the car. Fab stay. Thank you.

We had a nice stay Nice seaview over clifftop Would say it is comfortable and had all you need including WiFi and Netflix. All though dishwasher is provided, it doesn't clean very well and you still need to wash all items. Value for money 6/10 Garden needs attention too many weeds out back to enjoy sitting out. For price It is overpriced taking into account its very dated and in need of cleaning and redecorating

End of season stay

The kitchen was well equipped and clean . I had to contact the owner the second day to tell her one of the beds didn’t have a clean sheet on it and that I had washed it .(wasn’t a bed we had planned to use but the mattresses on double beds were very firm.) One of the dining room chairs was wobbly and one of the wardrobes was very unstable .there wasn’t anywhere to plug in the beside lamp in one of the bedrooms. The property provided us with all we needed and was comfortable aware it’s the end of the season so we felt this maybe why the property and garden looked in need of attention . The majority of locals we went were very friendly there’s always an exception to the rule though . We had one very wet weather day and not all of the heaters worked to dry our wet clothes .(a modern trivial persuit would be a handy addition 😉) Ideal location for anyone wanting a base and no frills but worth the money we paid .

Fabulous short break

So glad we found this lovely little chalet with a stunning view of the sea. The beach is beautiful & peaceful. We used the local tea rooms & shops, where the locals were friendly and helpful. The chalet was comfortable with everything we needed.

Great Location - Wonderful Panoramic Sea Views

We all absolutely loved this holiday. This property was perfect for the three of us, my daughter has additional needs, the property has sturdy practical furniture, with space to manoeuvre and easy to wipe clean surfaces. Had everything we needed. Fully furnished kitchen equipped with everything for self catering (bar a fish slice - opted for wooden spatula), also had a secret hidden cupboard space which was useful to hide certain foods! Three bedrooms all with wardrobes and drawers, the shower and toilet were a bit of a tight squeeze but I still managed to shower my daughter, there is a washing machine and place to put washing out and sit outside. We preferred to sit out the front but there is also a private option to sit in back garden space. It is so lovely to open the patio doors and take in the fresh sea air. And wow, the panoramic sea view is just amazing. Makes you feel good to be alive. Everyone locally was so friendly and helpful towards us. Such a lovely area to explore. Lots of amazing beaches loved Great Yarmouth and Hemsby Beach. Short walk to local Scratby beach - the nearest track down to the beach is a bit steep with one big step - but we made it! Further along there is an actual sloping footpath to the beach. The road the property is on does have pot holes - but this makes drivers slow down and drive carefully which is safer for everyone. It's better to turn left out of the property as the road surface is better that way. The bins hadn't been emptied for a while but we didn't let this ruin our holiday and we made sure they did go out as requested in the owners information book. I loved it and would definitely stay there again.

Hi I am Kathryn and I manage the property on behalf of my mother who owns the property. I grew up in Essex but have been going to Scratby since I was born and have spent many happy childhood holidays there and still continue to do so. I have dogs myself and enjoy long walks on the beach with them and so it is only natural to allow guests to bring their dogs to enjoy the beach too. I have gradually been making improvements to the property over the last two years and this Autumn plan a new kitchen and shower room and a general refurbishment of the property. I hope you enjoy staying at 'Windyridge' as much as I do and maybe make return visits.

Windyridge is situated in a pleasant seaside village which has shops and restaurants to cover most of your daily needs. It is well positioned for the Broads and Great Yarmouth and for a trip up the coast towards North Norfolk and Cromer. The beach allows dogs all year round but in the summer they must be kept on leads at Hemsby beach.
