Wij heten u welkom in Ashford Old Schoolhouse in de prachtige omgeving van Ashford Estate en Cong dorpje tussen Lough Corrib en Mask. Geniet van het verblijf in ons historisch huisje gebouwd door de familie Guinness in 1853. Omgeven door eindeloze bossen wandel- en fietspaden en grenzend aan het prachtige terrein en de tuinen van Ashford Castle hotel. Cong dorp met pubs en restaurants ligt op slechts 20 minuten lopen door het landgoed.

We zijn blij om professioneel begeleid vissen op forel en de Atlantische zalm te bieden. Wij bieden een volledige hengelen dienst waaronder het begeleiden, bootverhuur en vliegvissen collegegeld. Er is veel te doen in het gebied voor het hele gezin - paardrijden, zip lining, golfen, valkerij, boogschieten en boottochten allemaal binnen 5 minuten lopen. Het gebied van Cong en Connemara is prachtig voor sightseeing, wandelen in de heuvels, stranden en kleine dorpjes met gezellige pubs. Kylemore Abbey, Clifden, Galway en Westport allemaal binnen minder dan een uur rijden

De accommodatie is gelegen in het gerenoveerde vleugel van het oude Ashford Castle gate lodge met aparte ingang, tuin en parkeerplaats. Lovely cottage in a great location

We thoroughly enjoyed are stay. The cottage was very comfortable, well equipped and clean. Frank and Kersi were great hosts. There are lovely walks around the grounds and down to the lake. Cong was quiet although I guess it will get busier as the season progresses. We look forward to a return visit.

Best Place We Stayed

We stayed at The Old School House for 5 nights in October. It was like something out of a fairytale! The house is a small little place in Ashford Castle grounds, which is breath taking! We will definitely be staying here again!!

Magical retreat

Charming hosts Kristy and Frank. Have a lovely cottage with everything you need. Stay a week and enjoy the gardens the trails the people and the history.

The ideal place to stay

My wife and I stayed for a week and couldn’t have been happier with the location and accommodations. Quiet, secure, and very clean. We won’t stay anywhere else when returning to this area of Ireland.

Great place to stay!

Amazing

This is the best VRBO experience we have had. This cottage is magical and sits right on the Ashford Castle grounds, a short stroll to the entrance to the Ashford Gardens. The gardens stretch about a 1/4 mile from the cottage directly to the castle. Along he way are spectacular gardens and always a Falconer along with their guests.the cottage is a walk to the village of Cong, a charming Irish village with pubs, restaurants, and shops, famous for the Quiet Man movie. This cottage and the surroundings were truly magical.

Sehr charmantes, historisches Haus in idyllischer Lage

Wir wurden nett von Kersti empfangen. Sie ist hilfsbereit und steht bei Fragen immer zu Verfügung. Wir haben die schöne und absolut ruhige Lage sehr genossen. Das Haus hat den Charme eines historischen Gebäudes und ist gleichzeitig gemütlich, komfortabel und mit allem, was man braucht, eingerichtet. Wir haben auch einige schöne Abende am Kaminfeuer verbracht. Und wir haben den Weg durch den Schlosspark genossen. Wenn man etwas in der Nähe machen will, kann man den Corribsee genießen oder das Dorf Cong besichtigen. In weniger als einer Autostunde ist man in Galway, Cliffden, Westport oder bei der Fähre zu den Araninseln. Wir empfehlen das Ashford Old Schoolhouse wärmstens.

Stunning location, beautiful wee house

Just driving through the castle grounds to this house was a treat. The house itself was just a picture. The best stay in Ireland North and south that we have had to date and we are both over 50 and 60. The location is stunning, the quietness and peaceful nature. Nothing to dislike and everything to love.

Peace and tranquility in a magical setting

The cottage is beautiful, Owners are lovely and always available for questions and assistance, never intrusive. Walking in the Ashford Estate gardens and paths through old growth trees, bushes and flowers is an unbelievable delight. This was our second stay and again a delight.

Wonderful cottage

My best friend and I wanted to find a cozy cottage in Ireland for our girls trip. We were hoping for something similar to the cottage in the movie The Holiday. It did not disappoint. We were so happy to return home in the evening after a long day of driving to see sights and just relax by the fire and watch our favorite Jane Austin films on the DVDs provided by Kersti. I also greatly enjoyed my daily walks to see Ashford castle on the road and walking paths. It was a wonderful experience.

Ireland adventure x 2

The cottage was magical. So quaint and beautiful. It was well laid out and was just perfect for the two of us. We loved being so close to the Ashford Castle and walking to the Falconry for a great adventure with the hawks! The hosts were great and welcoming and we felt we had our own private space the whole time there. It was another special time in Ireland for us and we love to get back soon!

A cosy retreat in an idyllic setting

Wonderful few days spent in this beautiful cottage with my family. It is full of charm and character and fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Situated on the grounds of Ashford Castle we were spoilt for great walks around the Castles gardens and is only a short walk into the quaint town of Cong. Throughly enjoyed our cosy nights spent by the stove fire ( generous supply of logs provided). Woulld definitely recommend watching the Quiet Man during your stay (dvd also available in the cottage) and recognising all the different locations from the film which surrounds the area. Even my teenager enjoyed it! Maybe a cliché but definitely memories were made, and hopefully one day we will return again to stay.

Perfect Tranquility 😀

Just back from a week at the Old Schoolhouse and I can confirm accuracy of all other 5* Reviews. The house is an absolute Gem set in the most perfect location. The grounds are beautiful for a morning/evening stroll (10 mins walk to Cong Village) and the Hospitality that Frank & Kersti provide is next to none. Until next time!

Ashford Cottage

This is a charming cottage in the perfect location. The combination of the original stone walls, hardware floors and the spiral staircase makes this cottage so unique and cozy.

Sehr idyllisch

Wir hatten eine erholsame Woche in einer sehr gepflegten und geschmackvoll eingerichteten Ferienwohnung. Diese Unterkunft liegt in unmittelbarer Nähe eines Castles mit Schlosspark und eines großen Sees, Spaziergänge am Abend daher immer herrlich. Warm and cozy, exactly what we were hoping for.

Location was perfect for doing the Falconry. A must do while staying. Close to Cong and driving through the castle upon entering and leaving was magical.

Very Charming

Frank and Kersti were very helpful in answering questions and helping connect us with a local pub to hold a birthday celebration. The cottage is extremely charming and the nearby town of Cong has some very cute shops and nice restaurants. Would stay here again.

My husband said don’t leave a good review…

Not because it was bad, but because we don’t want anyone to find out about this beat kept secret in Ireland! We stayed at the cottage for three days during our trip to Ireland. Each day we would take a day trip to different spots and it was so nice to come back to a warm fire. The hosts are Very communicative and even came to meet us once we got lost trying to find the property. The grounds are so beautiful, and we ate at the restaurant at the lodge once, which was phenomenal. Being a low season the weather made it to where I could have sat in the cottage all day with a book. We cannot wait to visit again !

Simply Lovely

Old Schoolhouse was delightful from beginning to end! Every darling detail is perfect in the house. Quiet, hearing the birds and sheep in the morning. Trails everywhere to hike, the lake, Ashford Castle and all it has to offer, with options of fishing and boat tours, falconry school, horse back riding and more. The perfect active get away.
