Excellent alternative to hotels

The Ascott is far better than the majority of shanghai hotels. It has an excellent location and the apartment rooms are very well equipped. Staff are keen to help although their English can be a little limited. Another member of staff on the front desk would be good idea during the day. Otherwise no complaints and extremely good value.

BUSINESS TRIP TO SHANGHAI. CHOSE ASCOTT DUE TO ITS BRILLIANT LOCATION IN BUSTLING XIANTANDI. ROOM CLEAN/SPACIOUS, HOWEVER NOT PLEASED WHEN BEDLINEN CHANGED ON 3RD DAY AND ONLY AFTER I COMPLAINED TO FRONT DESK. NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR ANY 4 STAR HOTEL. STAFF ARE FRIENDLY AND OBLIGING BUT POOR GRASP OF ENGLISH MAKES COMMUNICATION RATHER DIFFICULT.AFTER 4 NIGHTS OF A 6 NIGHT STAY, CHECKED INTO THE PARK HYATT, PUDONG FOR REAL QUALITY HOTEL ACCOMMODATION.

Well located and comfortable

The Ascott Huai Hai Road is extremely well situated in that if you are a walker you can get pretty much anywhere from this central location. You can walk to Wei Tan (the Bund), Yu Yuan (Gardens), Nanjing Lu and many other places within 30 mins. It is surrounded by high end shops housed in renovated buildings on tree lined streets. There's a nice (high end) supermarket nearby (City) if you want to use the kitchenette that comes with the room (I had a Studio, 1 King Bed) and which offers pretty much all that you need for a 4-5 day stay. The room I had looked over the park and Yan'an Lu (elevated highway) but you wouldn't know (I was on the 14th floor). The room was comfortable. The only negative point I would make is that the WiFi signal was not strong enough to work on my Mac; I had to rely on my iPad and iPhone. This issue is not restricted to the Ascott though. I would choose this location again.

traffic jam, bad service, will never stay again

I booked one room apt and got a room (a regular hotel room, not an apt). I asked the guy who brought me my suitcase and he ensured me this is it.... On one of the days that's raining, I waited 20+ minutes at the lobby to know that they don't have umbrella to borrow any more. No one was attentive at all. The location is central if you are there to travel on foot, if you use a car, it's endless traffic jam... Breakfast is basic. Would never stay there again.

The good thing I like in Ascott hotel is that it has a very nice small but very clean kitchen and we were able to cook our own food. Reception staff were very friendly. The breakfast do not have reasonable variety of food and mainly cattered for Chinese. Over all the stay was good experience

Stay with Ascott Huai Hai

We stayed at Ascott Huai Hai Road for 5 nights and it was 1 of the best so far, for the amount that we paid for. Service has been top notch from the moment we stepped in. We had to change rooms once as the room below us had a burst pipe, we appreciate that they personally informed us of the issue, and managed to find us a similar room 2 floors down almost immediately. We had left behind my daughter's camera upon checkout and only realised it late that night. When I messaged the hotel via this app, I got an immediate reply from Ethan Chen. I still preferred to talk over the phone and managed to get through, afterwhich he offered to send the lost and found item via package delivery to our new hotel within a day. I offered to pay for the delivery service, but they waived it and said it was their job. Really touched by their actions and it is not something that we take for granted. We will reocmmend this hotel to friends and family who visit Shanghai in future!!

Property is not well maintained and dirty. Very dated, different from pictures on hotels.com. Breakfast is bland. Only good thing is the location. For this price, can go somewhere else much better.
