Reviewer Comments:
Where to start, there is a lot I wish I knew before coming here. In writing this review, I hope to help others with some information that I didn't have. This condo, as advertised, is modern with two bedrooms. The lighting is all florescent, unlike some of the other units in the same complex, giving it a third world, non-modern feeling. Warm lighting would go a long way here. The primary bedroom had no AC. There is a control on the wall, but it never got cool, the ceiling fan is noisy and at full speed does not help. Luckily, and unluckily, it turns out that this is one of the windiest areas in Mexico. I say lucky because after sweating through the first night and not being able to sleep due to high humidity and heat, we left the windows open the rest of the time and had some hurricane-esque breeze coming through to help. The unlucky part about the wind is that it killed the whole trip. The beach was unusable because of the waves and strong winds. There was a LOT of sargassum at the other end of the bay, but this northern part had little to none, which is why we spent the extra money to book here instead of on the southern side. What they don't tell you is the amount of rocks on the shore making it almost impossible to get out to the water. There is a tiny path between the rocks where I saw a giant stingray nestled, cancelling my plans to swim that day.Another thing to know about being on the northern side is that the only entrance to half moon bay is on the southern side and it has tons of speed bumps with a speed limit of 20km/h, taking forever to get in and out of the area. Also, during the day, there is a constant flow of micro tour buses going to Yal Ku lagoon.Another thing they don't tell you is that everything closes at 8 or 9 pm. The pueblo side of Akumal closes even earlier, around 5pm for the good taco spots. Nothing is open before 8am, so plan on cooking or going for a long drive to eat outside those hours. Akumal for
