Escape the winter chill and discover the coastal charm of Gearhart, nestled between Seaside and Astoria. With a population of just 1,462, this peaceful beach town is the ideal destination for a year-round getaway.
Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a round at the historic Gearhart Golf Links, Oregon's oldest golf course, celebrating its 120th anniversary this year. What began in 1892 with three holes has evolved into a stunning 18-hole public course, perfect for a springtime game.
For adventurous souls, try your luck at razor clam digging, armed with tips from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. The majority of the state's razor clams can be found on the nearby beaches, promising a delicious reward.
April is a fantastic time for bird watching at the Gearhart Necanicum Estuary, as migratory birds pass through. Look out for shorebirds such as the Western sandpiper, whimbrel, semi-palmated plover, dunlin, and long-billed curlew.
Seaside, a vacation spot dating back to the 1870s, is easily accessible via Highway 26 from Portland. Its oceanfront promenade offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, perfect for a leisurely stroll. With its charming restaurants, pubs, and cafes along Broadway Street, Seaside has retained its status as a popular family destination.
Astoria, with its gritty charm, is a city of contrasts. Fishermen are poets, loggers enjoy espresso, and Main Street welcomes both galleries and old-fashioned five-and-dime stores. Home to 10,000 residents, Astoria has a rich history and has evolved into a cultural hub, often likened to "little San Francisco." Victorian mansions and maritime relics coexist with trendy restaurants and tattoo parlors, making Astoria a fascinating place to explore.
The community has Tennis courts, Pickle ball and we have tried to carefully provide everything needed for a stay at the beach.
Gearhart is a lovely, quiet town built alongside the ocean, located just three miles north of the resort town of Seaside. The open, grassy fields on Gearhart’s shore side overlook the Pacific.
